Kia stop/start system?

I have a 2014 Kia Cee'd 3 1.6 CRDI Eco which I am pleased with on the whole but puzzled by the Stop and Go system which refuses to work when the conditions for heavy demand on the battery are prevelant. For the most part it does not work if we are doing "supermarket trips" but a run of 80'ish miles brings it back to life although not always. I thought of putting the trickle charger on occasionaly but was warned against this in something I read recently which suggested some chargers are not suitable for this. On a recent short trip it started working even though I had the air-con on. Your comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on the residual charge in the battery. You can keep it fully charged with a 'battery conditioning float charger'. Definitely do not use a traditional battery charger for this job.
