  Hi , I am From Mumbai india, I own A Skoda Laura AT. I am having a battery Draining Problem. I am Not able to start the car if i dont use it for 2 days . if it lies idle without use for 2 days my remote wont open the car. I changed the battery, I sent the car to authorised service for more than a month and they could do nothing !

  It has travelled 49000 miles on mainly short trips. I remember a previous car had a sudden and total battery failure at a filling station at about the same age and milage. Is there any easy test I can do to check the state of the battery? I know that modern types often give no notice of failure. Should I change it at a particular age or milage or will it last for many more years?

  Owned our Jeep for 5 years and had no problems at all then in the last 5 months we've replaced the radiator, then coupling on fan sheared and went through radiator so all replaced! Crank sensor then failed in Feb and then battery died! Replaced battery and something keeps draining it flat, garage has run tests and in fairness aren't charging us due to recent outlay - all to them. Yesterday mentioned a possibility of the alternator but we're at the end of our financial limit and thinking of ebaying it for parts!!

  Can you please advise how I change the battery on my 99' VW Passat, I can disconnect it , undo the main hold down bolt, but that's it ? I can't see how the battery is meant to come out of the compartment that it is in, all I can see are two options, bend / remove the trim from the bottom of the window ( not sure how) , or force off the rubber trim that runs along the fire wall, not sure this is suppose to happen either ?

  Big daughter is now at Uni, but car remains here so is unused for many weeks at a time. When she first came back for a break the car wouldn't start - flat battery. As it was the original battery I assumed it had had it and fitted a new one, fully charged. However it's happened again. I've recharged it, but not yet got round to working out how long it takes to drain.

  Hi my mum owns the above-mentioned Clio. The issue is, if the car is left standing for more than 4 days the battery is completely flat! She has had several new batteries and several people look at it saying things like ?it doesn?t make any sense!? There is nothing obvious like an interior light being left on. Has anybody heard of this or similar problem with the old Clio 1?

  Today I changed the battery of my neighbour's 97 1.4 Citroen ZX for her. Alas she lost the remote fob for it several years ago and when we connected up the battery the alarm armed itself for the fiirt time in years! The car still starts/drives but the alarm goes off when you open the door/bonnet/boot most embarrassingly.

  I've taken the screeching alternator off and am wondering what sort of daylight range I might expect of a fully charged 45 amp hour battery. In daylight the only electrical load will be the ignition system, brake lights and indicators, but it'll have to be started a couple of times too. Could be good practice for running an electric vehicle.

  Is it safe to charge the battery on my Honda Civic without removing it from the vehicle? I have a modern CTEK charger which is supposed to be safe to leave connected for long periods, but I just want to give it an occasional boost.

  i have connected the battery to my corolla 1996 to the wrong terminal by mistake. now check engine light is not indicating and cannot stat the car all the other accessories are ok. what should i check , pls help me. thanks, -chaguana

  Can someone plz help , ive got rain water coming into the car and soaking the carpet , i recently had to put filler under the battery as part of it rusted away its seems to be around the foot rest next to the clutch , I dont have a manual so im not sure if theres supposed to be a cover on top of the battery there is on the other side but not on top of the battery any suggestions ?

  I got stranded at the weekend with a flat battery -- I'd left my sidelights on. The mechanic that attended tested the charging voltage under idle and load & reckoned charging/alternator was fine. He didn't seem to think the battery was faulty, but didn't do a drop test.
