Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 1.4 petrol - electrical faults 25 Jan 2008 (Forum)
i have a Peugeot 306 lx t-reg it starts ok. if it's running while parked or i'm reversing there is no problem but as soon as i drive forwards all the electrics go, the dials go up and down the led display goes haywire then the engine cuts out also now the central locking does'nt work either i tried the battery terminals they were fine, i cleaned the points on the earthwire, still no joy. it's now becoming a pain. could it be the battery itself. it does seem to die quite quickly if the car ain't running. -

VW Sharan alternator 27 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Fortunately it's a company car and won't cost me anything to have it fixed. However, what puzzles me is that there was no indication from the dashboard lights that the battery wasn't charging. When the ignition was switched on a battery icon lit up but when the (diesel) engine started it went out. The first indications that anything was wrong was when the engine was a bit sluggish on the starter motor and the electric windows a bit slow winding up and down. -
Laying up car for 6 months 20 Sep 2006 (Forum)
We have decided to keep my girlfriends old car and store it in a garage for 6 months for my brother to learn to drive in. Question is should I be doing anything special for this short space of time. WIll hook the battery up to a trickle charger and leave the handbrake off so hopefully no battery and brake issues when it is to be used again. Should I change the oil (was done recently) and maybe run it once a week for 10 minutes to keep the engine going or is this doing more harm than good? -
Espace '01 2.2dCi 'Imobiliser' 31 Aug 2006 (Forum)
After 5mins of taking the keyin/out it works ! At lunch, 4pm or evening it's fine. Weird problem. Thought maybe a battery that charges from the ngine may be draining overnight ? I'm goin to replace the key fob batteries just in case. Any thoughts ???????? Nick -
Very slow starting Bedford Turbo lorry 5 Jun 2006 (Forum)
B reg, SH suggests it has been cared for. It runs no more than once a week, sometimes less, and is very slow to start. It has a new 95Ah battery but that does not have enough reserve to run the starter for the time it takes, so I have an older but serviceable 110 Ah battery that I charge and connect using jump leads. With this set up I can always get it started, but after a very large number of turns. -

306 S16 1995 Plip locks 12 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, The plip on my 306 S16 1995 was slowly become more of a hassle to open the car.....you had to play with it on the windscreen...eventally it stopped working from the outside, but did when you were in the car. My thoughts....battery...right, replaced the batteries, now it will not work at all. I have tried to 're-program' but still no luck. I was just wondering if when these babies pack-up do they just die, or die slowly? -
escort diesel starting problems 28 Nov 2005 (Forum)
just recently my 1995 escort diesel has become awkward at starting in the mornings. its not the battery that turns over fine. the car just seems to hang on the battery turning part for ages, doesnt want to cath .this morning after 3 long tries it finally started. when it does eventually start it sounds awful for a few seconds then becomes the trustworthy machine it always has been. -
Astra mk4 central locking 26 Jul 2005 (Forum)
My mate has an sri astra mk4. Since the car battery went kaput recently, the central locking won't function, either remotely or via the door lock. He's tried various methods of re-sycning the key (if indeed that is the problem), which usually involves turning on ign lights and pressing button, with no effect. -

ignition light - Vauxhall Astra 16 Jul 2004 (Forum)
a few days ago my astra 1.4 l reg when i turned the key the ignition light was not lit, but the car started, i assumed i had a connection problem somewhere and i sprayed wd40 on the leads, battery connections, and its only since yesterday that the ignition light has lit up, my car has a standard immobilser and alsrm fitted, my question is what causes it, and is it serious, the car has no problem starting up it starts first time, i had a alternator replaced a year ago, if the alternator failed i would have had a flat battery any thoughts??? -
Peugeot 306 remote key 12 Jul 2004 (Forum)
My other half's 306 (V reg) has what I assume is an infra-red remote key (the one with a red light next to the buttons). Batteries have never seemed to last very long, but the ones I replaced last week have already failed. There seems little point in just putting in new batteries every few days. Questions: Is this a fault with the key I can rectify myself? -

Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 95 2.0 XSI died and I'm too stupid to make it go 25 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I tried restting the alarm via the ignition and the cute little button just above it within ten seconds a time or twelve too.... The battery isn't the recommended battery; I seem to recall it mentioned something about diesels on the wrapper.......... The pulsing noise actually originates from around the ECU. when it died on me half the time I couldn't get a response from the immobiliser keypad- when I could, it made no difference. -
2 perplexing problems 1996 Range Rover 20 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Never had a whiff of starter motor problems in the previous two weeks. It was also curious that the battery was suddenly flat. I measured the current draw on the new battery with doors closed & unlocked (i.e. interior lights off & no alarm system) & engine and ancillaries off and got a reading of 0.5A which would surely flatten a battery in 3 days! -
Mazda 3 & battery / tracker issues 13 Jul 2023 (Forum)
I posted a while ago about my brother who eventually bought a Mazda 3 from a national dealer. The car was in Mazda's workshop for most of the time he had it as the battery kept draining. Now he's got his refund, here's what happened... He bought the car from Arnold Clark and almost daily the battery would die. It had gone to Mazda for investigation multiple times but they couldn't find anything. -
Logical diagnosis and guessing. 7 Jan 2002 (Forum)
"Since it's been very cold it has taken ages to start and been really lumpy, now today it turned over a few times and then the battery was dead" the guy (regular customer) tells me. So I'm thinking battery and/or glowplugs. For various reasons I couldn't get to him quickly and he said it was easier to use a local mechanic where the car was stuck. -
Skoda Octavia - Failing to Give Information about the driver 22 Dec 2022 (Forum)
When I finally found it I scanned it intending to fill it in electronically - I have poor writing! - and while hunting noticed my phone battery was dead. So I changed the battery (LGV20 has a replaceable battery) and is so doing must have licked the battery as it caught fire - scary since it woudlnt go it took a while to find womething to lift it up and thrown it out of the window - and took the thought of the request for information out of my mind it took a few days to sort out the mess (new carpet etc) and then I started in on the mail, discovered the request for information, filled it in and sent it off So I was surprised when, on or about 3/11 I received this Proecdural Notice (dated 27/10) charging me with Failure to provide information. -
JAGUAR X TYPE 2.0D 2007 - JAGUAR X TYPE CODE 34 / FLASHING CODE 34 / 33 7 Aug 2020 (Forum)
So I decided to disconnect the two pretensioner cables from the front connector, just incase there was a faulty connection, did this then put everything back in reverse order. Connected the battery and switched on the ignition. To my amazement the error code changed from 34 to 33, this indicates that the Front drivers side safety belt pretensioner circuit was at fault. So did exactly the same with the front seat, disconnecting the battery and waiting 5 minutes then removing bolts and then discounnecting the two pretensioners from the front connector, put everything back in reverse order. connected the battery again, and to my amazement I did not have any codes flashing, so it was just a loose connection under both seats.
