Legal Advice Sought 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
My motive for posting is this: I have to assume I am going to have a battle with a customer service dept and don't want to end up looking very silly. I will keep it as brief as I can. 3 weeks ago the brakes on my car partially failed (whilst stationary thank goodness). Not being a mechanic of any sort I called out a well established breakdown company and they very kindly put my car on a flatbed truck and drove it to the local branch of a national brake and tyre place. -

Peugeot 308 - Garage have sold me a faulty car 10 May 2022 (Forum)
They fixed this and had Peugeot pay for the claim. 72 hours after they handed my car back, the same thing happened again limp mode on a motorway at 70 mph with both engine management light and service light in red. This was yesterday and they full inspected and fixed the fault ( there was 8 faults recorded by my breakdown company) they tried to deliver the car back to me today, the driver heard a grating noise from the engine and told me he wasn’t happy to give me the car back. -
Peugeot 308 - Peugeot Problems!!! 6 Apr 2020 (Forum)
We’re taking it to another garage tomorrow for a second opinion, but if anyone could give me any advice as to whether I can take this up with Peugeot, or the finance company as in my opinion a car of this age shouldn’t be having this kind of breakdown. Thanks (Edit: paras inserted so that people don't lose the will to live.) -
Seat Altea - Seat Altea Breaks Down Randomly 17 Jul 2017 (Forum)
Any ideas what it could be (I am suprised about the gear 1 and 3 fault, since the first breakdown occurred while I was in gear 7)? And do you recommend returning the car at this point or what other steps can I take to ensure that the problem is identified soon? Thanks in advance. -

I bought a 2003, 53 plate Skoda Octavia vRS from a main dealer in July 2007. A condition of the sale was that the car was serviced according to manufacturers guidelines prior to collection. In addition to this as an "approved used car" it is subject to 1 years extended manufacturers warranty / RAC breakdown cover. -
Site Adverts and Pop-ups 26 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The greater part of the site holds a lot of useful and valuable information around motoring - whether this is things such as the Car by Car breakdown, Buying/Selling Cars and Road Tests and much more or things such as the useful website list. If you haven\'t explored the rest of the site, then I encourage you to do so. This all takes a great deal of people\'s time, in particular HJ\'s. -
Advice on buying a cheap used family car? 17 Feb 2020 (Forum)
4) Ford at almost 10 years old will need Timing belt replacement, which I will budget for, but does that mean the Mercedes will be cheaper to run as a result as I presume all other maintenance will be same thing on both vehicles? (Tyres, service, clutch etc) 5) For any car I will want to get some kind of warranty, and family members have used the AA breakdown+garage warranty in the past (35 excess, repairs up to £500 covered) and it's in the 200-250 range for a year. -

>>Useful underfloor lockable cubby-safe. Which you could get into with an old toothbrush. Its like waving a flag which says "Good stuff in car which you can get easily". >> The hill descent control works well. No it doesn't, it really, really doesn't. You might as ell put it in gear, leave the handbrak half on, leave the car on tickover and wander off for a cup of coffee.
