BMW reliability again 27 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Regardless of whether you have a full BMW service history, the dealer will never change the auto fluid. Many of these boxes are failing around the 120-150k mark - often well outside of warranty and to a cost of £3.5k plus VAT. A good independent or automatic transmission specialist can and will change the fluid for you (and any good BMW independents will recommend this anyway). This is commonplace in the US and means the 'box should last the life of the car rather than being the cause of it being written off. -

We will then have a three month warranty with the garage. Carshop in Northampton. Just wondering what the general consensus is whether you would buy a 67 plate car that had these lights on or look for another one? Cheers. -
new reliability survey; time to change opinions? 25 May 2016 (Forum)
However, on the forum the current thinking is; don't touch French cars (dodgy electrics), Vauxhall (only average) and Mazda(diesels are rubbish). Maybe these manufacturers have turned a corner concerning production and quality control. I suppose any recent or current opinion from people using these vehicles might be useful in correcting or affirming the long held views of many( myself included). -

2002 corsa electric power steering 23 Nov 2005 (Forum)
The electric power steering on my 2002 corsa is intermittently failing. Family owned from new and just six thousand eight hundred miles on the clock, the car had a new rack under warranty 18 months ago with 4000 miles on the clock. It spent a year off the road before my dad passed it onto my daughter when he had to stop driving. Now just as my daughter is to take her test in the car in two days time the power steering fails intermittently whilst in heavy use, eg part way round a three point turn. -

Do they perhaps remove the gearbox so they can drain the torque converter? Not in 4 hours they don't. As the car is just out or warranty it will be going to our usual independant for servicing. -

Citroen DS3 - Citroen dealership caught speeding in my car 17 Jul 2012 (Forum)
have had an issue with my local citroen dealership where a member of their staff has been caught, without my permission, using my car for personal use, and caught speeding, whilst it has been in for warranty repairs. the car went in with engine issues, sudden loss of power and no acceleration. the garage has had three oportunitys to fix the car. the first time they did a software reset and gave it me back. the second time they replaced the timing chain and other associated parts. the third time they replaced the fuel pump. the car is, for now, OK but I've now had a letter from the police over an alleged speeding offence. this is dated to a Sunday, at 16:00, outside of business hours, at a time when i did not have possession of the car and had not given permission for the person who used the car permission to do so. surely this is classed as theft i would like to refuse the car and have my initial deposit refunded. the car is now 13 months old, i have owned it from new, having bought it from the garage where this offence has taken place advice would be greatly appreciated. -
