Peugeot 406 Hdi 110 2001 (Y) RHZ - Cutting out and Lack of power 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I also have a 90 bhp Hdi of the same year, so I.................... 1 Swapped the low pressure Bosh pump in the tank, 2 Swapped the relay next to the ECU under the bonnet, 3 Done a like for like swap of the vacuum solenoids on the bulk head. SO TO SUMARISE, My 90 BHP now has all of the above parts fitted to it off of the 110 BHP, it goes fine!! The 110hdi will tick over for hours, but when driven will cut out in about 300yds, the engine light is still on and it will not rev over 2800 rpm.Untill this happened, the car was running fine. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.6 cooling fan too keen 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
New thermostat and cooling system flush to no avail, despite careful refill and bleed to avoid airlocks as before. Have disconnected battery for a few hours in attempt to let ECU self-reset but no change. If I arrive home with fan frantically whizzing away and switch off for a few seconds, then restart, fan is off. Very baffling. -
Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 91 1.6 Fuse Box/Fuel Pump Intermittent power failu 8 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I know 100% that it is a problem with the cables(loom) that connect to the fuse box,, the problems is every now and again the fuel pump will cut out, i have had the car specialists in to look at it, since being told to replace the fuse box, fuel pump relay and ecu, the problem still persists, when the engine cuts out i proceed to 'wiggle' the fuse box itself whilst coasting down the road, and the majority of the time, this caues the fuel pump to start working, this fault must be caused by a loose or faulty connector on the loom, ofcourse i have no idea which connecter that connects with the fuse box does what! -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2001 HDi intermittent lack of power 10 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I have just tried linking out the switch with a piece of wire which i thought would give me a fully performing car again, but this has not worked. Is the ECU clever, and expects the switch to break and make every time a gear change is done ? (i.e. when the throttle is released) Which would explain why i cant fool it... I noticed that some sort of lubrication has leaked on to the switch again like last time which could be making it fail? -
Mazda 323 (1998 - 2003) - 01 1.6 Intermittent flashing engine check lamp 7 Aug 2009 (Forum)
By the time he's arrived at the dealer the light has stopped flashing and has gone off. Now, I was of the understanding that the ECU stored the fault code, but perhaps I wrong! Has anyone had experience of this problem? Whilst I owned the car I had the engine check lamp come on and it was a defective knock sensor to blame (known 323 problem). -

Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.0 Washer system 26 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi Guys Previously you have been of great help to me and I hope this is quite simple Last Monday when leaving work I had an anti pollution fault. I had it checked out on Tuesday and had the ECU reset - since then, no faults or warnings On Thursday, going home, I tried to use the windscreen washer and the wipers worked fine but the screen washer didn't - neither front or back. Looking at Haynes it would appear that the washer circuit has its own fuse, which I will check tomorrow. -
Jeep Grand Cherokee (1999 - 2005) - 99 4.7 Automatic gearbox problem! Please help!! 25 May 2009 (Forum)

Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 04 2.0 Lack of power at 74k 16 Mar 2009 (Forum)

Renault Laguna II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.9dci Engine "stop" light and other problems. 15 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Please help, i bought a 03 reg 1.9dci laguna a few weeks ago and started experiancing problems i was driving down the motorway when the engine stop light and the engine management light came on. i pulled over an it would not start again so i got recovered... a mechanic mate of mine looked at it and now its seems to be a ecu or injector fault as its losing the coding..is this a regular problem or can anyone shed any light.. hes fitted a fuel filter and got the diesel to maintain pressure but apparently the injectors are working intermitently thus allowing NOT enough fuel through hes also eplaced a turbo solenoid and cleaned the egr valve and throttle body... short of taking it to a main deal who will probably charge a fortune im and hes at a loss he did say i needed to obtain the code for the key. how do i get this what do i ask for and roughly how much is it? -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 1.6 Petrol - Erratic starting & idle from cold 11 Nov 2008 (Forum)
suggested I replace the Idle air control valve which I did. The problems are still there though. I have also reset the ECU which initially made things worse then settled back to the above pattern. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -
Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - TDCi "transient overboost" -- what triggers it? 8 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I'd be very interested to know: --> is it only triggered when the pedal is floored (similar to kickdown in an automatic)? --> or is the ECU clever enough to give overboost if the pedal is 'stabbed' quickly, over a certain defined range of pedal travel? --> is it only available in certain conditions (i.e. coolant / oil temp above a certain range, exhaust gas temp in a certain range etc) I would have thought the driver has to actively initiate it with a determined right foot -- especially after the "unintended acceleration" lawsuit that hit Audi in the US in the 80s. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 1999 X20XEV Should the fuel pump relay be warm to 23 Apr 2008 (Forum)
In theory they should be dissipating very little power, just the current through the actuating coils, so i don't see why they should be warm. Is this normal doctor? P.S. Simtec 56.5 ECU -
Fuel consumption figures 16 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Underlying the official figures lists is a fun, intra-industry game in which one firm\'s boffins try to outsmart another\'s by ECU tweaks and other arcane manoeuvres. Intellectually satisfying to them, results in league-table positioning for their bosses, but of no consequence to the rest of us - apart from how the resulting VED hits our wallets. -
Volkswagen Polo III (1994 - 1999) - 1998 1.4 - only running on 2 cylinders 7 Feb 2008 (Forum)
(it always has a good spark). swapped injectors with 2 and 4. Cleaned out the throttle body twice. Sent the ECU away and had it lab tested, no problems at all they say. Its now out of MOT and won't pass because of the high emissions, its practically undrivable anyway. My independant garage doesnt know what to try next, I've also heard horror stories of people going to the dealer and spending £1500 on similar problems and it's still not completely fixed. -
306 hdi cooling fans again (sorry) 15 May 2007 (Forum)
Failing that its gona have to go to a spark but my main question is, is it worth getting a diagnostic done incase of an ecu fault or just get it into a good auto electrition? cheers -
406 8v Turbo - Warning light issues 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
This is particularly annoying if your overtaking!! I disconnected the battery for some time to reset the ECU - made no difference. I have taken it to Peugeot for engine diag info. The results showed 2 errors recorded, one for the oxygen circuit and one for the turbo switch. Peugeot have offered to change both for a generous £250! -
Fiesta TDCI injectors / oil burn 23 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Any suggestions as to the underlying problem? I think 2002 was the first of the TDCI fiestas so maybe a design fault or ECU issue? January 07 oil light comes on and topped it up with 4L of oil, End Feb 07, and 1500 miles later oil light on again and 2.5 L added, (all i had in the garage) anyone have any ideas on this? -
1997 Alhambra 2.0 auto - opinions? 27 Nov 2006 (Forum)
From the CBCB, I gather these have JATCO autoboxes, which seem to enjoy a good reputation. There have been issues with water ingress into the ECU and autoboxes locking in park, though. So, my first question is, what's the backroom's verdict on this as an MPV? Worth a look or steer well clear? My second question is, as this would be bought as a car to run to the scrapyard, would the 2 litre/auto combination be capable of towing a caravan or small trailer (with a suitable cooler fitted to the box) or would I become a rolling roadblock as soon as I set off for the ferry? -
Troublesome Scenic 22 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Our 2005 Renault Scenic has had the following problems : 1) Steering lock failing to disengage - has been replace under warranty, but the new one still intermittently sticks. 2) Auto-box not changing smoothly - gearbox ECU changed under warranty. 3) Gear lever came off - repaired under warranty. 4) Rear brake squeak - fixed TWICE, but now back again (apparantly Renault will only fix it twice under warranty!) 5) No spare wheel!!!
