Ford Fiesta - Door won't open from outside 26 Dec 2020 (Forum)
I couldn't get it to work properly, and the local agent seemed surprised, but didn't think it was connected to the electronics, where the ECU was replaced under warranty. I didn't want to pay for another one. A local firm got it to work, after dismantling and reassembling the mechanism, though he didn't find the reason for the failure, but it failed again a few weeks later. -
Skoda Octavia Estate - In a quandary but a nice one 14 Apr 2019 (Forum)
The value of the C5 is maybe 1500 trade in, so if it blows, no big deal we "only" lose 1.5k. It does have a fault in its ecu that sometimes disables the CC. But everything else works fine. So do we keep it till it falls apart/blows up, or trade it in for say an Octavia 1.5 tsi, or something YOU recommend. We do around 3/4k a year in the C5 thats it, we have an old civic thats a bit old/rough/dirty etc but is our workhorse -
Any - The death of recycled parts? 24 Oct 2017 (Forum)
If the car is scrapped and the parts removed the unit has a one time access to couple with the car's ECU and hence will fail to work a second time Another example he claims is the Main Dealers difficulty in diagnosing intermittent faults. Apparently the manufacturer requires proof in the way of a print out of a permanent fault before they authorise a repair under warranty. -
Renault Clio S 1.4l 8v - Wreg Clio turns over but won't start. 5 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I tested each injector in turn and they all work and there is good fuel pressure, I changed the crank sensor but no change. I even tried a different ecu/bcu/key kit and it was no different. Annoyingly the wiring on it doesn't match anything in the Haynes manual so before I begin the tiresome task of checking ALL the engine wiring can anybody help with this problem? -
Jaguar X-Type 2.0d - Positive Story 22 Feb 2016 (Forum)
We're all used to horror stories and reading HJ too much with accounts of failed DPFs, ECUs, etc. and huge repair bills is enough to give you nightmares and visions of imminent bankruptcy. So here's a positive story - I think so, anyway. Took the car (2004, 157k) in for service and MoT today to my local trusted indy. -
Skoda Roomster - VW Recall list 20 Oct 2015 (Forum)
From Wiki I gather they are the same engine, I understand the blue additive was probably switched off vw models but Roomster does not have this but scr? I would like to know how VW ecu when running cheat mode can get all the NOX past the scr/ dpf, does it also switch off the EGR valve. When running in non cheat mode after recall i.e. after being 'Mullered' will the emissions require endless servicing and at whose cost I would like to see full disclosure of the technical issues reported by motoring press and not be fobbed off by VW reflashing their box leading to lower economy. -
Vectra 2.0 DTI 16V Low Power 18 Mar 2014 (Forum)
The car has just passed the mot and when smoke tested it was well under the pass limit which makes me think the fuel pump is not delivering full fuel, is there any way to test these fly by wire pumps without selling my house and using a vauxhall dealer as it seems with these engines they have no idea what is wrong when the ecu light is not on.If anyone can shed some light on the problem please let me know as apart from low power the car is great. Steve. -
2003 Ford Focus auto 1.6 - Disconnecting the battery 27 Dec 2013 (Forum)
It was suggested that I disconnect the battery when storing it, I just looked in the Haynes manual to see which terminal I should disconnect first and read that if I disconnect the battery the ECU will lose the information stored in it's memory (KAM), this includes idling and operating values and any fault codes detected, it goes on.......... Also the Ford keycode audio unit will not function again on reconnection until the security code is entered (I bought the car from auction 7 years ago and was never given the code.) -
Ford Fiesta - Fiesta Idling too high 21 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I checked the error codes and I got this list P0460: Fuel Level Sensor Circuit P0171: System too Lean (Bank 1) P0704: Clutch Switch In put Circuit Malfunction I had previously cleared the ECU after cleaning the connectors and the only other one I had before this other than p2119 was p0704. The car is currently idling at about 1300 RPM but it is also unstable moving between 1200 and 1400RPM slowly Anyone have any ideas? -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol 2002 1.4 LS 16V Z14XE - Misfire Cylinder 3 16 Jan 2013 (Forum)
This isn't the first time this has happened (about the 6th or 7th) I've had the plugs changed twice, new coil pack, new ecu, new egr, and a software update but the problem still seems to be there. I've just bought a new Lambda sensor which I'm hoping to get fitted soon, I'm also going to ask if them to switch the injectors round to see if the problem jumps cylinder (to determine if the injector is at fault) or if it stays on the same cylinder. -
Peugeot 206 - Intermittent starting problem 12 Jan 2013 (Forum)
The same problem occurred again, and the garage cannot seem to replicate the problem, telling us that "the car starts every time". We know that it does from cold, but not when warm. The second suggestion was that we have the ECU replaced, an option that we does not appeal owing to it's cost and the fact that there is no guarantee that this would solve the problem either. The car is spending the weekend at the garage, where, on Monday morning there will, no doubt be more scratching of heads! -
Ford Mondeo - DPF and oil warning 2.0 tdci 24 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I'd be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this, as at the moment I am not sure whether to wait to get it serviced in a couple of months time, or whether it needs an immediate oil and filter change and an ecu update. -
Vauxhall Corsa D 1.3 CDTI 90PS 2007 - Erratic revving 4 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Problem occurs when air con is both on and off. Could it be a sticking throttle response or something else, there are no ECU lights so would assume that it is not electrical. It is also smoking a little more than usual. I have given it a blast down the motorway to see if the problem would clear. Any ideas? -
Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet 2005 1.6 petrol - intermittent camshaft knocking 15 Apr 2011 (Forum)
ive had the oil and filter changed.used a fuel additive to remove any carbon deposit on the valves and had the camshaft sensor changed.the ecu light stays off after resetting until the engine is cold .When i start it from cold the camshaft ? knocks briefly and the engine management light comes back on .my mechanic says its unlikely the camshaft is worn because of the low mileage and because the engine/camshaft doesnt knock when the engine is warm. -
Renault Scenic 1.9 - electronic fault warning light 8 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I then went to the garage and paid £40, they printed out the following; Connect to sun scanner and read ecu memory for faults, intermittent fault stored with egr valve flow p 1826, cleared fault from system and reset, no fault present on road test, customer to monitor, if fault returns a new egr valve will be required. -
Ford Mondeo mk3 2ltr zeetec 51 pate - Speedo drops to zero and starts to missfire 13 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi anyone had a similar experience, it would appear to get worse when the electrical load on the car is increased. Have cleaned all the earth points and had the ecu cleared and rebooted with the latest software updates but still the problem exists. This firstly started when i changed a dipped head light bulb which when they were turned on stopped the engine.Cleaning the earths seems to have got rid of that problem but now i am left with this intermittent fault. -
Mazda 3 ts2 2.0d 2008 - Sump oil rising fast 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Last month it was towed into a Mazda main dealer with the sump oil level very high, loss of power, uneven idle, and run-on after switch off (no dash warnings). The dealer reconfigured the injectors, made a service update to the ECU for the DPF warning setting. Mazda refused the warranty claim saying this is a serviceable issue. I note from the injector readings that one injector is way different to the other 3. -
Hyundai i20 - Hyundai i 20 10 Nov 2010 (Forum)
However, I did own a Getz and when under warranty was almost faultless and even if the fuel consumption was a bit heavy for a 1.3 ( 37 mpg average) the car was excellent value for money and reasonable to drive. Yet when the warranty went, a month later the ECU decided to die, leaving me stranded and with a £ 600 bill. This had obviously narked me big time, and I vowed never to buy Hyundai again, but the way the i20 is reviewed is making me think again. -
Ford Focus - Cooling fan problems 30 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Unfortunately it still happens. They say it's a fault however can't find it. Its due to go back in for a new ECU. I have asked for a replacement vehicle as I feel this fault has gone on long enough. This was rejected by the dealer. After speaking to the finance company involved with my car they advised me to reject the car. -
VW Polo 03 1.2s - Engine warning light on for trivial problem 27 May 2010 (Forum)
Interestingly they couldn't see a fault-code for the failed light, only some other minor transient faults, but anyway......this blown bulb cost me over £27 in the end. How can it be right that the ECU retains the warning for a blown bulb permanently and doesn't clear it when I replace the bulb? Obviously I had to get the fault cleared as there's just the one warning light on this car, for everything from trivia to impending disaster.
