MR2 import servicing. 21 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Is there somewhere with a list of spec differences compared with UK cars? Are any parts really specific to the import. Does it make any difference if it is a new import compared with one that's been here a while? Any help appreciated, Tony L are you about? David -
Mitsubishi Galant 21 Sep 2001 (Forum)
On the HJ website 'Car by Car breakdown' section for the Mitsubishi Galant , he writes: "Mix of officially imported and grey imported VR4s. Only pay grey price for a grey". How can you tell a grey import if you are buying a second hand Galant and do grey imports create any problems for owners? Also, has anyone any experience of these vehicles? -

I’m currently looking for a 7 seater car and I’ve seen quite a few Japanese import which fit the bill but I’m just wondering if I would have problems in the future when trying to maintain or repair an imported car. Toyota Estima - Future Grey Import petrols 16 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Hi Due to changes in legislation like many others living in London I'm having to replace my 04 Sharan TDI. I'm considering an Estima 2.4 Auto imported from Japan. Budget is around £6k. Are there any changes to legislation that might be in the pipeline that may affect petrol grey imports in future. Thanks for your advice. -
Importing a car 23 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I am thinking about buying a car at auction. It is from Australia. Not registered in the UK. No V5. Described as having "duty-paid import documentation." Has anyone got experience of importing a car. What papers should I be looking for? What do they look like? Is the duty VAT? Also, how easy is registering a car with DVLA? It is a 1920s vehicle, so I would be looking for an age-related numberplate. -

Audi S3 - Imports 11 May 2016 (Forum)
When entering in the reg number to pay for the Dartford crossing, it came up with the suffix "S-A" after the model type. This made me suspicious that it may be an import and I now notice that the car came via Paragon Automotive who seem to specialise in perparing imports for the UK market. Am I being paranoid and even if it was imported, is that detrimental to its value? -
Toyota Auris and Auris HSD - Motorpoint and imports 24 Sep 2013 (Forum)
I am currently toying with the idea of buying a <1 yr old Auris Hybrid from Motorpoint. There seem to be lots of glowing reviews about Motorpoint however I understand that they import most of their cars which then do not come with a standard warranty. Would I be correct in my reasoning that as the Auris is a UK built vehicle, any cars on motorpoint shouldn't be imports and will therefore come with the standard UK spec and warranty? -

New, Import or demo 9 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Hi I really would like anyone's opinion of the following: I have seen three 'new' cars: One from Motorpoint( Irish import.uk spec) A new car from a main UK dealer and a UK demo with 5 k on the clock All are similar spec The demo is the cheapest then the import about 1,000 more and then the new one about 1,500 more than the import. Is it worth the saving on the import or would I loose about the same when I trade it is later..Also how much of shoud the demo be reduced Also the demo only has a two year warranty thanks alan -
Importing a LHD 15 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I'm thinking of buying a new car (not sure which one yet) and would like to import one from Belgium/Holland. I know I will be able to order a RHD car but it may take a while for delivery. I don't mind sitting on the wrong side of the car when driving so I'm thinking of importing a left hooker. -
Vauxhall Dealer selling imported Opels 25 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Why would a Vauxhall franchised dealer be selling an brand new right-hand drive un-registered Opel Astra? Could this be a car imported from Ireland which was destined to be re-badged as a Vauxhall but can't now because of the recent publicity given to this illegal practice? I'm referring to the illegal practice of re-badging, not the legal practice of importing.
