Seat Ibiza 1,2S 2009 - Starting problems and possible software solution 28 Nov 2014 (Forum)
My daughter's car often won't start after standing unused for only 2/3 days - no power from the battery. The battery is OK, current drain is acceptable when engine is turned off, it's charging OK with the engine running. I've read elsewhere that a software upate has solved this problem for other people, but my dealer doesn't know of such a fix. -

Citroen Saxo 1.1 1996 - Clicking noise from ECU 12 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Can anyone shed any light on a clicking noise coming from the ECU. When I turn the key the ignition lights don't come on. When I put a light load on the battery (which is fully charged) the clicking slows down, with a heavier load the clicking stops, but still no ignition lights ... the battery refuses to show any signs of life. The lights don't come on even though the clicking slows down or stops. -

Nissan Micra (52 or 53) - Cant unlock Nissan Micra either Remotely or Manual 1 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Neither of the keys will unlock the car remotely or manually (via passenger side door). Do the batteries in the keys need to be 100% to unlock the car manually ?? - I am pretty sure that the car battery will of course be flat but I would have thought that would not have affected opening the car manually ? -

Peugeot 205 - Starting Problem 6 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Sometimes you turn the ignition and the warning lights come on but when you turn the key further to engage the starter all the electics go off completely ie clock, warning lights, the lot. So, open the bonnet, disconnect the quick release positive battery lead, then reattach it and everything back to normal. Except yesterday this quick fix didn't work and I had to jump start it from another car. Could this be a battery fault, a dodgy lead (which looks fine) or some strange Peugeot electrical gremlin? -
Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec - Delay on ignition 30 Sep 2010 (Forum)
HI, I recently changed the coil, ht leads and plugs and to make the engine warning light go out I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. Since then I now find when I start the car there is a about a 1 second delay between turning the key fully to when the start motor actually kicks in. I think this is related to me disconnecting the battery and may be linked to the immobiliser doing it's checks. -
Audi A3 + S3 (2001 - 2003) - 03 1.8T Audi stereo power supply 9 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I've been told in the past that the way that the Audi stereos are powered is that they receive a constant feed from the battery and when the ignition is turned off would continue to supply power to the radio. If there is no demand for power then the stereo cuts off its demand for power itself. Hence, if you install a handsfree car kit to an Audi and re-use/piggyback-off the stereo power supply that the battery will drain and eventually go flat. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.25 Revs dying when cold 22 Feb 2009 (Forum)
when the engine is cold, somtimes putting the clutch down will now make the revs die completly to 0 and the battery light etc will come on. Sometimes it will save itself from dying at around 400 revs but the battery light will still flicker when it goes that low. Its only ever when the engine is completley cold and once warmed up its absolutley fine. -
BMW 3-Series E36 (1991 - 1998) - 98 2.5 alarm advice 9 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi, my car has been at the local garage waiting for a reconditioned propshaft, and my mechanic locked the car with the key rather than the keyfob, assuming this would lock the car without arming the alarm, as he was on holiday for a week. 3 weeks later, I unlocked the car and the alarm sounded, and the battery's fairly flat. Is there any way of locking the car without setting the alarm, or how can I disable it, as it just drains the battery when left for a few weeks. -
Vauxhall Omega (1994 - 2003) - 1996 2.5 Engine management light 24 May 2008 (Forum)
Parked the car last night and set the alarm. Car was running normally. This morning the car wouldnt start. The engine management light and battery light stayed on after turning the key and after resetting the alarm. Starter operates normally.I have disconnected and reconnected the battery without success Can an alarm immobilizer cause any problems with the engine management system/light (car alarm locking appears to be operating normally). -
Honda CRV Radio Won't Turn Off 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
When this happens, nothing will disable it - and the volume/on-off control is inoperable, i.e. turning it does not alter the volume and depressing it does not turn off the power. The only solution is to disconnect the battery. When the battery is reconnected, and the radio code re-entered, it will work again for a period, and the fault will then recur. Has anyone encounetred this problem? Is it a fault with the radio, or is it in the car's electrics? -

A Class open windows 11 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Colleague at work has a 51 plate A class. She said it broke down at the weekend (initial diagnosis alternator, later revised to battery, which was replaced). Today she managed to lower 3 of the windows which then would not go back up again. We managed to lift the windows (hand on either side of the glass and depressing the up switch) and get them to stay up: is there some sort of re-set process that should have been followed after installation of new battery? -
Carpet Removal - Pug 306 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Dear Backroomers, With all your extensive knowledge of all things motoring could you please provide some help on lifting the carpet up on a 306, I need to get a few wires down the length of the car and so far I am not clear on how to do it. Secondly my key fob is going through batteries a little too quickly. I bought two new lithium batteries for it on Saturday and by this morning they were both dead, I\'m guessing this isn\'t the normal standard! Any ideas on what the problem may be? -
