  So daughter has had a car accident and is making a good recovery, but her little car is a write off. It's now sitting in a yard somewhere, clocking up storage fees. I rang up the insurance company over a week ago, they took details, and said no problem, we will send you a letter. I expect they will want the V5 and MOT etc etc. Tax disc retrieved from dead car.

  In fact, the rear space for passengers is better than my C4 Picasso (5str) Dammit! However, the batteries take up a lot of the floor space in the rear hatch area so the storage space is very shallow. I was surprised at the amount of road noise coming into the cabin too. He pays 15 quid a year road fund.

  A quick blip of the throttle will make it fire immediately no problem, then it runs as sweetly as the day it left the factory. What could be causing this? It seems to have been kept in storage for about 6 months before I bought it, if that helps. My first guesses would be plugs or H/T leads, but I'd welcome the opinion of someone who knows what they're talking about before I go randomly replacing bits.

  Any ideas for the following requirements: Used for storage, not too keen on 4x4 image though A workmate found a VW Caddy 105PS TDI which is perfect, but they seem to be in short supply and none of the equivalent vehicles (Transit Connect / Pug / Citroen small vans) seem to offer the same kind of perfrormance I saw an ex-aussie Ford Falcon v8 2wd pickup on auto trader, but it was LPG only and I get the feeling that fuel prices won't be in its favour much longer....
• Vauxhall Omega (1994 - 2003) - no drive on new automatic gearbox box 20 Apr 2006 (Forum)
  I got the gearbox from a working low mileage late model, and then replaced lots of seals in it, some I did myself, and some an automatic specialist did. It has then been in dry storage for 6 months. We are wondering if it was because I emptied the fluid out of the torque convertor before, will this cause the problem, by there being no fluid being pumped, or should it fill when the fluid is put in?

  Vehicles without cover were immediately seized by police, who gave drivers 14 days to get insurance or have their cars crushed. Of those 174 were recovered and put in storage and 42 were crushed immediately. The fifth figure is a bit iffy though, as it later says During the three days, officers stopped any vehicle in a poor condition or with no tax disc.

  But importantly diesel not petrol can be purchased also at lorry depots, coal and home heating distribution yards. [allowable due to less stringent safety rules i.e. ?overground? diesel storage tanks] As a result diesel is sold in a really cut price environment thus benefiting the diesel motorist with much cheaper fuel. Could this ever happen in the UK? *UK price equivalent

  The heads up display is good, the safety features including the 360 view was quite intuitive and helpful in parallel parking. The storage isn't as much as SUVs of similar size, but again plenty for us and I'd say for most families. Overall a very satisfactory vehicle that is extremely comfortable, very quiet inside even at speed and good storage around the seats for things.

  As posted elsewhere, our old Subaru has reached the end of its working life after 20 years and needs to be replaced soon. We decided to buy a new car and looked at hybrid options but as we have to place the car in storage and are out of the country for up to 6 months of the year, hybrids posed a question mark. Now someone has suggested leasing or renting a car during the 6 or more months of the year that we remain in the UK and return it just before we left.

  Hi all, I'm interested in buying an old Luton van for storage for a few months and a small number of trips in connection with a house move. I'm looking at models in the 12-15 year old range with lowish (for that age of van) mileage of 150-180k. I can't get any helpful pricing, does anyone know where to look?

  Hi - need a new family car (baby due early next year). Car will mainly be used for urban driving with the occasional excursion further afield. Storage wise, just need something to chuck a chid buggy and associated paraphernalia in. Test drove a few cars and my wife really likes the Kia Niro Hybrid (Version 3 - 16 inch wheels). I thought the Skoda Octavia 1.0 TSI would be better though.

  The original 13 pin plug on my caravan has failed. Corrosion mainly due to being exposed during winter storage. I have a new one from Sealey. Different assembly but have worked out the alignment it is now just the wiring. Not all the colours are the same as the wiring diagram, but I have the old plug and the wires that connect it from where I cut it off.

  I notified the DVLA of the sale and have the usual letter acknowledging that I no longer own the vehicle. Now some 9 months on I've had an email from the buyer telling me that he's had the car in storage and that in order to get the vehicle registered in France he needs a copy of my passport. I've emailed back saying he's not getting copy for security reasons and I've had another email saying that without my help he cant get it registered.

  We are not aware of any reason that her licence should be revoked and we're both worried as they seized the car and knowing dvla and how slow they are,it could take weeks to sort out,meanwhile the storage rate will soar at £25 a day and we'll lose the car altogether. Any advice will be gratefully received.steve

  With the arrival of a daughter, our Golf TDi is no longer bigger enough to haul our camping gear (and now pushchair etc.) around the country, even with a roofbox. Given our storage needs I'd thought that a (used; <£8k) diesel estate might suit: an Octavia, say, or a Mazda 6, Mondeo or Avensis. When looking up the luggage capacity of these vehicles, however, they seem to carry little more than the respective hatchback, with presumably some disbenefit respecting fuel efficiency.

  I'd like to replace the Premacy with something (3 or 4 years old) that offers a similar seating arrangement (and preferably similar storage facilities) and I've looked at a VW Touran, but I don't know what else is out there (I would have considered a Mazda 5, especially since it has sliding rear doors, but they've made the middle rear seat narrower that the other two, so I've ruled it out).

  The u turn on the tax for at least a year (more than likely happening) Want a car I can enjoy but still fairly sensible storage reasonable MPG? So guys any pros and cons for my idea? Your knowledge and advice would be greatly appreciated by someone who has sod all technical knowledge with cars just like them to be fast and fun.

  4) what if you pass the breathtest at the station and it transpires the roadside tester was defective (you had had no alcohol at all) - are they obliged to take you back to your car or if it was lifted waive storage charges? I'm sure there are other issues but this'll do for starters.

• car in garage yard, require access to it 23 May 2007 (Forum)
  colleague had a crash with another car, his (my colleagues) fault & car insured TPO although no-one injured, police got involved & 'kindly' arranged for car to be towed away now it is in some garages' yard, £150-odd fee for removal plus £12/day storage need to get shot of the car ASAP as don't want to incur any extra charges than the frankly horrendous charges so far. Need to get access to the car to retrieve personal effects, e.g. umbrella & suchlike once done, the car can then be scrapped.
