Volkswagen Touran II (2010 - ) - I'm buying a Touran! 11 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Drivethedeal is able to get one for me 2.0 TDI SE with about 4 grands worth of extras for a shade under £19k, an amazing £4k off. Ok, enough plugging - is the car any good? does anybody have any good/bad comments? it fulfils my critera, growing brood, economy, just falls down on the looks department. Has there been any known problems with the engine? I've already had a look at the car-by-car breakdown, and I also noticed that there's a replacement due next year (but which should have come out this year)? -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 2001 1.9 diesel - injector problems! Please help! 12 Jul 2008 (Forum)
A diesel injection specialist replaced one of the injectors but it broke down a few days later. Another injector was replaced but it broke down again. A few days later another breakdown and the garage replaced the final two injectors. The car ran OK for a month or so before breaking down with the same symptoms. However, this time the fault cleared itself after being turned off and allowed to "rest". -
Berlingo - Very noisy tickover. 4 Aug 2007 (Forum)
The car has since failed a further three times with the same symptoms! I'm waiting for a call back to see when the garage will be able to look at the car again. Above taken from a 2005 post regarding similar symptoms. -
Yaris engine design fault - any advise? 4 May 2007 (Forum)
(Another aside - the car-by-car breakdown lists knocking from the front as a sign that the anti-roll bar bushes are failing. I've had this for over 3 years and mentioned it while the car was still in warranty. The garage claimed not to be able to find anything and told me it was OK. -
Ford focus econotec diesel 2008 - Car chooses when to start - Help!! 21 Aug 2021 (Forum)
Drove all the way to Wales from Brighton, then travelled within Wales. The car worked fine. The following morning, it wouldn't start. The breakdown service we use could find no faults when the recovery person put his diagnostic equipment on the engine. He checked the car over and was perplexed. -

Ford Focus 1.6 Engine Troubles 5 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Price was possibly a bit on the steep side, but time was short and I got £250 for my worthless old VW Polo and a year's warranty. Anyway, at Christmas I had the car serviced and the cambelt done at my local Ford garage. To cut a long story short, the new tensioner failed and they ended up replacing all the exhaust valves along with a few other bits and bobs. So far so good, car was running fine when I got it back. -
Recommendations for Agila: 3 choices ... 12 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I hope no-one will start trying to talk me out of an Agila, because it's taken us a while to get this far, and it does look to me like a very good VFM kind of car. The high seats and the easy loading boot appeal to me, and I've looked at the Car by Car Breakdown and searched the discussion forums without being put off. So specifically, the local dealer is offering: 1. -
Effect of having insurance cancelled 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
The broker managed to sell my sister a breakdown policy, suggesting it would be very helpful when making the Norfolk to Birmingham journey. Midway through the policy, after a failed break-in attempt, my sister didn't want the car at uni any more and tried to transfer the insurance back to the Norfolk address, where the car would be left. -
Nissan Juke - Nissan Juke Won't Start 23 Apr 2019 (Forum)
Its a push button start , and we tried both key fobs and changed the batteries in the fobs, but no joy. Breakdown recovery checked the cars main battery which was fine, and tried a "reset" by disconecting the battery temporarily, but car still wouldn't start. All the dash lights come on, and the radio works etc, just no engine ! -

mercedes s350 bluetec - New S350 continous problems currenty in workshop 11 Jul 2011 (Forum)
Several weeks passed by while they attempted different fixes, which didn’t make any difference. The car was finally returned early April, still with intermittent gearbox issues but none serious enough to warrant a workshop recovery. · On 21 st May the car broke down again where there was loss of power and thumping sounds coming from the rear, again breakdown were called out and attempts to repair were not successful, the car was recovered back to the dealer on Monday 23th May, they found various faults with the car and are now awaiting instruction to repair. -
Kia Ceed Sportswagon - Engine just blew up.... wonder why? 22 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Then there was a loud bang and it was onto the hard shoulder. The breakdown guy came to the same conclusion I did i.e. big end gone and sure enough he checked for oil and it was bone dry. He got the car cheap, it's going to be uneconomical to repair and he just has to chalk it up to experience but given the information I've been able to provide, would any of the backroomers like to hazzard a guess as to what went wrong and why? -

Treating your car well - fueling 23 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I was wondering what peoples oppinions are on fueling up your car. I have limited knowledge but i see fueling your car with good fuel as beneficial in lots of way. I admit i have limited knowledge but surely putting good fuel in will help prevent long term damage or wear and tear on the mechanics; especially in diesels. -
Servicing. Why bother? 30 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I'm not saying that this 'schedule' must be followed but taking your car to a main dealer for servicing seems expensive when I can only think that they 'suggest' to change parts when really they have a few more months or 1000's of miles left on them? The only reason I can think of taking it for a regular service is that it may stop your car from breaking down, but hey, a car regularly serviced can breakdown just as much (I've had such an experience) . -
Peugeot 807 2.2 HDI 2004 - Peugeot 807 Stalling 14 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Once I turn the key to start it, it starts and then gradually drops below the 1000rpm and then dies. It is not always responsive to the throttle during this time either. If I park the car at work and dont use it for the 8 hours I'm there, it will often stall upon starting again later that day. My fuel economy isn't great either - especially on urban driving, much better on long journeys.
