  I noticed the item in today\'s paper \"Warp Factor True\" (406 with warping brake discs). It reminds me of my same experience when my Rover 218 turbo diesel was a company car and the lease company garage kept replacing discs. It finally appeared that the cause was cheap brake pads that caused immense heat build up. Garage claimed the lease company had instructed them to fit the cheapest, not the manufacturer\'s parts.

  Been back a couple of weeks now, but thought was worth the thread. Had a C4 Grand Picasso as hire car for holiday in Spain with wife, 2 daughter and parents, although parents drove down in their Volvo had this as was reasonable cheap (EUR 300) and meant only having to take one car if all went out together.

  I would be grateful for any opinions or insights. Does this seem totally unreasonable? Should I even notice the burning, is it over-heating, why the excessive use of fuel? So many questions the dealership seem incapable of answering. Obviously I'm very unhappy with my GLA ownership and really want to reject it. We chose Mercedes because our previous car (a 2012 A-Class) provided 9 years of trouble-free motoring and we never noticed any DPF issues.

  Since the nights got darker & colder, I've noticed my lights and aircon dip in power momentarily (for maybe 1/10 second) but repeatedly. It happens in any gear and at any speed, although I suspect it's worse when the car is much colder. Today I had my aircon on 'windscreen clear' full power mode and the lights and fans were dipping frequently. I can feel a slight dip in drive also. The car is a clio dci (100) with just under 70k on the clock.

  Hi everyone my apologies if this is the wrong section, (Admin please relocate if not the appropriate locations) So I was hoping to gauge peoples understanding of the following event. Driving on the A34 which is a dual carriageway in Oxfordshire. I am in the right hand lane in my car following a car and a small van in front of me which is overtaking an HGV, in the left hand lane. I then have cars behind me, a Luton Van starts undertaking all the traffic and stops short behind the HGV which I am next to overtake, the small van then returns to the left hand lane and then the car in front is slowly speeding up.

  Had to jack the car up and put on the space saver spare the other day as the front off side tyre had a puncture. Jacking was done using the specified jacking point and car on level ground. Now I have a creaking noise coming from the windshield (appears to be front off side) This is intermittant but very annoying.

  This one has me puzzled. Every car I have owned with discs all round has put more dust on the front alloys than the rears. Most cars I see seem to be the same. I have had this A3 for nearly four years and more dust comes off the rear alloys than the front whenever I wash it.

  When I reverse (auto box) up an incline I get a distinct creaking sound from the front of the car (but not always on a flat surface).  I thought it might be the front disc pads binding but stabbing the brake doesn't stop the creak.  Could it be the engine mounts or maybe a drive belt?

  I am thinking of buying a Nissan Almera, It has been written off by the insurance as cat c. The dealer selling the car told me that he has replaced front head lights, front, back bumper and a passanger side wing. Its for about 2000 £ and is 7 years old. Do you think its worth spending that much money on this car??

  Did anyone else read the letter in today's Sunday Telegraph which blames manufacturers for sacrificing safety/stability of cars by introducing fwd as a cost-cutting exercise? I'm not sure I fully understand the thrust of the argument but it seems to hinge upon the fact that fwd cars are harder to control in emergency situations due to the steering being adversely affected by collisions.

  I bought this car new 3 months ago and have driven 3500 miles and am very pleased with it but recently there is a clicking and creaking noise coming from the front of the cabin somewhere. I don't think that it's the seats but my suspicions are that it might be the centre armrest or seatbelt buckles.

  I have just had my Car MOT'd and the garage called to say that it failed and needs the Front and Rear Brake pipe/lines replaced at a cost of £300. (they said that they need to replace over 4meters of pipe/lines). Is this a true reflection of the work carried out at £300 or am I getting ripped off?
