DVLA and licence 14 May 2015 (Forum)
My driving licence expired on January this year, due to them making enquiries about my medical status. I have contacted them twice since Christmas, and have been told by them, that as long as my doctor says that I am safe enough to drive, I can carry on doing so. -
any - Buying Secondhand Cars. Easy !!! 20 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Your insurance company should be informed ( as had always been the case). 3. The no no's are you can't sorn it then drive it home, drive it home without taxing it, because the seller has to notify the DVLA incase the new owner gets caught on camera or has an accident or parking fine as these would come back on the old owner. -

She limped the 1 mile to the garage and after investigating they have advised that the chain drive to the oil pump has snapped and so they will need to replace. -

Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.6 Auto, juddering and cutting out 17 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Our rev counter hovers between 7500-12000 when we first start up but, once the engine warms up, goes down to 7500. When we are on the move, it drives fine but, when we are at junctions/traffic lights in drive, it hovers below 7500. When we knock it into neutral it reads 7500 again. When we drive around town/short trips, the car is fine but, when we're on the dual carriageway, after about 10/20 mins. it starts to judder. -
The pleasure of driving in Wales. 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Maybe I will regret posting this but having just spent a few days back in Wales for the first time in 18 months I have to say that the pleasure of driving around there increases each time I go back. As an ex Aberystwyth student, when I go back I tend to spend most of my time in mid Wales which is often overlooked and perhaps has less traffic as a result. -

I own a 1999 Honda Accord 2.0 LS Vtec 4 door Automatic. On starting from cold in the morning with the air conditioning or heated rear window on the drive belts squeal. It happens for the first 10 minutes from cold It only happens at tickover or when i pull away at junctions It is particularly bad on damp mornings I have replaced the following items in an attempt to cure this: Honda drive belts (a/c and Pas) Air con compressor Alternator Also it has recently had both timing and balancer belt and a Honda battery. -
Driving in the 90s and 100s 20 Oct 2006 (Forum)
No -not mph - years of age. Anybody else see the BBC 1 documentary last night on the aged drivers. Some pretty dangerous driving going on IMO and not a lot of seat belt wearing. I had to laugh at the forgetful but spirited 93 year old very genteel looking grey haired lady who was always leaving her walking stick behind . -
Carbon Taxes 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
- if I travel from Birmingham Airport to Malaga which way produces more emissions? 1. Taxi to airport, low cost flight B to M, taxi to my hotel. or 2. Drive B to Channel, ferry across either to France or North Spain, drive from Calais or Bilbao to M. Apart from the 4 days travel involved in the drive my guess is that flying is way better for the b***** environment than driving my car! -
Out of control Auto 7 Nov 2005 (Forum)
He admitted that he had accidentally touched the throttle rather than the brake. (Okay easy mistake to make) My point is that there seems to be a misconception that driving an auto requires less skill than a manual and that if you can drive manual then naturally one can drive an auto without much difficulty. Having driven both types I think that there should be some additional training/instruction given when somebody wants to drive an automatic. -
Karting in the street... 28 Oct 2004 (Forum)
A group of local kids have somehow got their hands on a powered go-kart - quite a decent one by the looks of it. However, they have taken to driving it up and down the street and often further - on to the surrounding streets via a moderately busy road. Now, I'd be surprised if any of these are old enough to drive and certainly the majority of those driving it are nowhere near 17. -
Civic Type-R Owners (Leatherpatches) 31 May 2003 (Forum)
Thanks for everyone's suggestions for a sporty car for £16000. I am currently following up some of the suggestions & going for test drives. I went for a test drive in a Honda Civic Type-R yesterday and as a result it has gone straight to the top of my list, although I do still have some other models to try. Unfortunately on the test drive the dealer didn't allow me to leave the city so I could not see what the car was like at higher speeds or crusing. -
