  As a lover of small cars generally, I was mightily impressed with just how good modern ones are. This one had everything I could possibly need, air con, climate, dab radio, Bluetooth, Android pairing , reversing camera etc etc. The 3 cylinder engine pulled nicely, with a very agreeable sporty sound, nice slick gearbox, well damped ride, decent handling, safe rather than ultimately sporty.

  We have 2 cars, one being a 2004 04 Astra 1.6 auto with 65,000 miles on it,  owned 44 months had a look underneath and some parts are rusting see pics, front exhaust pipe is blowing and air con is as efficient as it was. MOT due December and car cover 1500 miles a year. The other is a 2004 54 Skoda Octavia Tdi with 123,000 on it owned 59 months, cambelt & water pump replaced 4 years 42,000 miles ago and tyres due 6000 miles time MOT due next month.

    Checked the oil levels this is ok, as I have heard that over filling can cause the problem with an over revving engine.    Problem occurs when air con is both on and off. Could it be a sticking throttle response or something else, there are no ECU lights so would assume that it is not electrical.  It is also smoking a little more than usual.

  I am looking to buy a 4x4 but have not got a clue which one to get so if I say what I'm looking for maybe someone can throw a few ideas my way.I know I want a diesel one and I want a smallish one aswell.I'm not going to be doing much off roading its just my job involves driving along a beach about 40 yards to get to my place of work and theres a couple of rocks to go over so a car will just not do.I have a couple of children so I want something with all the toys you get in a car air con cruise control all electrics and a sunroof if poss.I was thinking of a jeep cherokee CRD limited that was quite nice and I quite like the rav 4.I will be doing mostly day to day driving on roads and my misses will want to drive it aswell school runs shopping etc so I want something thats as close to being in a car as poss not an agri type 4x4 something that pulls quite well ,so any ideas anyone.

    I currently have a Puma which is starting to need work doing and I think it may be time to change before throwing good money after bad.  I'm looking for a small car, preferably 3 doors, with air con that will be reliable to run, won't drink fuel and will drive well.  I quite like the look of the Fiesta and Ibiza - any opinions on either one or anything else similar?  Budget about £9k plus whatever pennies I get for trading in the Puma!

  Nice to drive, apart from occasional minor power drop, hardly noticeable, as if glow plugs and air con kicked in together, and CD player does not illustrate the CD name and track name. Only problem is I used to wail down the country lanes with my Toad "peep peep" and smile to say, my 15 year old Punto is worth less than your headlight, but now the tables are turned.

  Since then, (perhaps it was there before) we have had a smell of burning come through the vents in the car (no air con). When in town you usually smell it at traffic lights. And I think the smell comes from acceleration. Although after a long journey along country roads and some pretty big hills the smell was particularly bad.

  The guy that is fitting it phoned me to say it is different, I haven't seen it yet but he says the main of it is the same and something about the ignition is different? I know from looking at it when I took it to him that it had air con on it and my car doesn't but I didn't notice anything different. Can anyone advise me are there loads of different engines for a 1998, KFX (Chassis no) peugeot 306 1.4 petrol? Will it mean that fitting this engine I have is impossible?

  Autotrader values are all over the place with some dealer cars cheaper than private sales...going rate seems to be anything between £1300 and £2850 One owner + supplying dealer from new 3 keys, radio code and Peugeot security card 89k miles with book stamped up to 60k then reciepts from independent after No faults except outside temperature gauge reads - - - -.Working air con! 4 very nearly new Firestone tyres Gleaming china blue paintwork, seats look almost brand new. There is a small scuff on the back bumper and a tink dink on the door and that's it. Any thoughts appreciated it's a really good little car and I would really like at least £1850 for it.

  All, Just had a call from my dealer who is carrying out an 18K service on my pick-up, which is only eight months old. Supposedly the Air Con needs recharged - obviously due to all the hard work it's done this summer, and also for Front Wheel Hub Adjustment. Apparently both are chargeable. Ok, I'm a realist, the A/C recharge might need done, as no system is perfectly sealed, however in less than a year and still well within warranty?

  That sounds like a good deal to me, or is it?? If you arent aware, the spec is alloys, elec windows/mirrors,Front/back fogs, air con (not climate pack), cd colour coded spoiler, 16v, 125bhp. I'm sure all that means more toyou than me!! The salesman placed the sport between the LX and the ghia. Like the LX but with alloys.

  Or I have to go to Honda dealer only, for the free parts? In particularly I'm concern on the Clutch being squeaky when lifted up slowly and the air-con not as cold as it should be (despite they recharged it at the beginning), would those be covered in Warranty? Does anyone know? The MOT is due on 19/6/2007 anyway, so am I right in thinking to book for a "Service + MOT"?
