Dealer Warranty (unexperienced owner) - vvvenc
I'm a new car owner...lots of questions please help!

I bought a secondhand Honda Jazz in July 2006 from Honda Dealer and got a 12 months warranty.
I am looking to book for a Service before the warranty runs out, but I heard that dealer service are very expensive (not sure how much at Honda), if I go else where (Kwik Fit or Nationwide Autocentres, or anywhere else you would recommend?), would I still get the warranty parts free of charge??
Or I have to go to Honda dealer only, for the free parts?

In particularly I'm concern on the Clutch being squeaky when lifted up slowly and the air-con not as cold as it should be (despite they recharged it at the beginning), would those be covered in Warranty? Does anyone know?

The MOT is due on 19/6/2007 anyway, so am I right in thinking to book for a "Service + MOT"?
"Interim Service + MOT", or is it worth to go for the "Full Service + MOT" since I only get it checked once a year?

Any suggestion and recommendation are more than welcome!! Thank you!

You can go to any VAT registered Garage and the manufacturer's warranty is OK - if it is an "insurance based warranty" by the manufacturer thye insist on their franchise stamp. A 3rd party warranty just waants the stamp.

If the car needs a 1st MoT on 19 June then it is likely the Manufacturer's warranty expires then as well. Ask around a 2/3 Honda gargaes - they all charge differently and ask a sfriend if he/she can recommend a local independent who can be trusted and get a price from them as well.

It look like the manufacturer warranty runs out on 19th June.

What I would do is RIGHT NOW book it in for an MoT (you can take it for MoT up to one month before 19th June - so now is a good time). Take it to an MoT station that you trust and let them know it still has some warranty.

There are then two outcomes:

1. If it passes then book it in at an independent gagahge for a service.

2. If it fails then take the fail sheet and see what it has failed on. If its normal wear and tear items like tyres, brake pads/discs etc then go to (1) above. If it has failed on warranted items then book it in at your Honda garage. Tell them it is for a service, but that there are 'XYZ warranty matters to sort out'. Obviously this service must take place before 19th June.

From the posters profile, it's an 02 Jazz, so it's not the cars first MOT.

Is the warranty an 'official' Approved Used Honda warranty or a 3rd party one?

I would be tempted to take it back to the supplying dealer and get it serviced there - no harm in calling a couple of other dealers to 'benchmark' the price.
Squeaky clutch could be anything from some part needing a spray with lubricant to needing a new clutch. Doubtful that the clutch would be covered under warranty.
I wouldn't normally expect the a/c to be covered either, but as they recharged it less than a year ago then maybe they'll look.

Honda servicing is expensive, but the car rewards with near 50MPG and they're generally bombproof.

Oh, and before it goes in for MOT, at least check for no obvious faults like blown bulbs or worn tyres.

Squeaky clutch - on Honda's normally just lubrication spray required - 5 minute job.
Aircon - Is it actually working? Do you hear the normal clunks and slight drop in revs when turned on?
The light coming on does not always mean it is actually working. Aircon always works better when the internal recirc. button is pressed.
An aircon specialist is often gives better diagnosis than some dealers. Normally charge £30 - £50 for a pressure test/diagnosis.

Saying that Honda aircon systems are not as good as others.
