  • Ebay-Cheap HDI tuning chips, avoid or good? 11 Jan 2010 (Forum)
They all offer an item which seems to clip in line with your diesel HDi common rail injector, and claim to take most Peugeot Citroen (and BMW, and Ford HDi's) 110hp HDi up to 130hp, for somewhere in the region of £85-£100. Anyone got any experience of these? Here is a link to several on Ebay now, under search term 'HDI tuning Citroen'.
  • Citroen C3 Picasso (2009 - ) - Why so poor engine specs 14 Sep 2009 (Forum)
The other marks 1.6D engines trounce it on the numbers. I must admit to not noticing much difference on my test drives though. Mind you, the Kia and Citroen dealers nearest me are 30 miles apart so the tests were on different roads. Anyone got any thoughts on Soul vs C3 ? My current car (corsa - 56) requires MOT, Tax and a big service at the end of next month so I need to change before then (well, not _need_ but you know what I mean).
  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 04 2.0 Petrol - Flat spot when accelerating 30 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Not in exahust or leaks though just burns it. Engine only done 50K and serviced recently Will take it to our friendly citroen independent specialist later in the week to see what they say. I noticed the petrol filter not changed in the c5 at service, so maybe ?

  • What should I replace my Citroen Picasso with ? 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Just getting rid of my Citroen Picasso baked bean can I am on the look out for a new car. I like the "high up" cars and would love a 4x4 but am a bit dubious about the tax increases on these cars. It must be economical and reliable but I want something a tad more solid than the Picasso.

  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 2002 2.2HDi anti pollution fault (inter alia) 10 Jul 2008 (Forum)
About a month ago a warning signal on the dash board of my 2002 2.2 Hdi auto estate C5 indicated "anti pollution fault" among others including ABS failure The car contined to drive satisfactorily and after a while the alarms ceased only to return at a later date with a loss of power, driving below 50mph was satisfactory. The car has been into the main Citroen garage in Leicester five time and faults such as loose connection, blown fuse, faulty pressure sensor have been diagnosed. On each occasion the fault has reoccurred within a day or so of picking up the car.
  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 07 2.0 hdi fluid leak driver's side 24 May 2008 (Forum)
I realise the car is still in warranty, but, I'm going abroad next Tuesday and will not have a chance to see a Citroen garage. I saw small stain on driveway today. On investigation it is coming from bodywork/undertray on drivers side about a foot behind front wheel and a foot in from the sill. It doesn't appear to be oil, but then again it's not quite water.
  • Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 99 Suspension problems. 24 Oct 2007 (Forum)
I Have a Citroen Xantia W reg. Suddenly today, rear suspension wouldn't go up. Drove to work anyway, like on a pogo stick! Then brakes started playing up. Put foot on pedal, nothing would happen, pressed harder, suddenly they 'bit'.

  • Some Citroens can be ultra reliable! 6 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I often read here that French cars are not well engineered. May be true of one of the French brands, but im forming the opinion that Citroens are as tough as they come. Firstly they simply dont rust. I saw an M reg Xantia today and it looked brand new. On Wednesday a chap i work with who owns a Xantia 2.1 TD was telling me all about his car.
  • Citroen EGS Gearbox 11 Dec 2006 (Forum)
One of my cars is a Smart with a similar gearbox and although it is a bit jerky when fully automated, I am sure that more modern 'boxes with improved software improve on this - as seems to be the case with Citroens EGS. You can have either the control of a manual without the hassle of a clutch pedal in our ever more congested towns, or just go fully automated. Either way, you don't suffer the loss of inherent in conventional auto 'box torque converters, nor suffer the whines inherent in a CVT.
  • Citroen ZX 1.9 Diesel 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
My Citroen ZX 1.9 (Non turbo) Diesel has a strong smell of Diesel fumes at the exhaust (a lot stronger smell than normal - and most other diesels produce). The car runs fine and does not produce any black or grey smoke when accelerating.
  • PSA oil pressure switch 14 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I've replaced the switch (and topped up the oil) because I could see oil seeping out next to the single contact on the switch body with the connector off and the engine running. Now, I've had oil pressure switches fail before on Citroen CXs but I've never heard of them failing on an XUD engine. This is confirmed by the local Citroen dealer who hasn't heard of a failure either and the parts wizard doesn't keep them in stock. Anyone out there care to comment?
  • Citroen Synergie 1.9 TD Problems 30 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1995 Citroen Synergie 1.9TD, it's due an MoT and I know it's going to fail the 'smoke test' due to the amount of black smoke it pukes out when revved hard and the vehicle is staionary. The car has been treated with injector cleaner quite regulary, it doesn't burn any oil and fuel economy is good.
  • The search continues ... 18 Apr 2002 (Forum)
In the effort to replace Madame's ageing Citroen AX, we have at last got to a short list. Bye bye Citroen Saxo (too much like the AX). Bye bye Hyundai Coupe and Ford Puma (no room in the back). Bye bye Citroen Xsara (old man's car, according to Madame).
  • Citroen Xantia HDi brake pad wear 10 Sep 2001 (Forum)
My Citroen Xantia HDi 110 bhp estate was bought in November 1999. At the first service I was told that the front brake pads would need replacing in 4000 miles - I had done 8300. I had the pads replaced at the service to save taking the car back later.
  • Citroen Xantia 18 Aug 2001 (Forum)
Hot starting problems Car is hesitant to start when cold, but can be very difficult when hot (has been known to power up hydraulic system before starting, but has not yet failed to start) Been into Citroen specialist who has checked no leak from fuel pipe under bonnet and checked out fuel pump, injectors, etc. and fuel supply to them. He has suggested next step to have cylinder head off to check swirl chambers as lining may be cracked, but this will cost around £400 plus any repairs to swirl chambers, bit expnsive!
