I've been looking around the Kia Soul, C3 Picasso, Fusion class of cars and narrowed things down to the Soul or C3 Picasso. What have they done with that engine in the C3 ? The other marks 1.6D engines trounce it on the numbers. I must admit to not noticing much difference on my test drives though. Mind you, the Kia and Citroen dealers nearest me are 30 miles apart so the tests were on different roads.
Anyone got any thoughts on Soul vs C3 ? My current car (corsa - 56) requires MOT, Tax and a big service at the end of next month so I need to change before then (well, not _need_ but you know what I mean).

ive ordered the vtr+ 1.6d and collect in a few days.
ive also driven the soul and to me trhe c3 has a much better ride and a little softer.
the 90hp output isnt the best in class but i found it fine for the type of driving i do.
I think hj rates the car pretty highly for a family runabout.

What is wrong with the Corsa? It is far more expensive to change the car than to have it serviced and MoT'd. If you need a bigger car then say so, and change, but if you don't, then why change a perfectly decent car?

If you want the extra space that the basic hatch like the Corsa doesn't have then also check out the Roomster and the supermini estates such as the 207(8?) and Fabia, they are virtually no bigger but give you more space than the next size of car up and are miles better than the Fusion (and I'd say the Soul, from the one I've seen!).
Decent engine choices as well!

After HJ's rave review I popped into out local Citroen dealer and took a look. I thought it looked liked a great package, however, when I sat in the back, I thought the seats incredibly hard - and not at all comfortable.
No idea what the Soul's like, but I was somewhat put off the C3 for that reason. Fed up children = no fun.

I thought it was good in the back. Lots of room.
I will have the need to ferry four adults + sports gear around to matches later in the year and I can see all of us getting in the C3 picasso with plenty of room in the boot for all the kit bags.
I should just get over this nagging nag about the C3 Picasso having an engine somewhat under-class and go for it. Now the VTR+ or the Exclusive .... hm

The way I read it is that the OP is going to change their car and wants to do so before the extra expense of fixing their old car comes up. Its quite a routine way to do things, Im not sure why it confuses you so.

It's also a 56 reg so is probably due a snapped cam very soon.

Er, this doesn't sound too good! Are they known for this then

The key thing with kids is room and easy to see out windows, when I looked at the Soul the windows seemed a little on the small side in the back compared with others... having said that the "looks like someone has stamped on the top of the car and made all the windows small" look seems to be the latest craze, so maybe I'm just being too old fashioned wanting large windows?!

Yep. Changing car anyway so changing before big-ish bills is better than afterwards.

Gary, honestly, m8, check out those other cars I've suggested before you commit yourself, you may be pleasently surprised...

I have looked at the roomster a while back when we decided on a Meriva for our other car. Didn't much care for it, nor the Modus. Haven't looked at the pug yet, will do. thanks.

Did you check the new Fabia estate as well? Bit more conventional!
