  Hi I?ve noticed a small knocking sound near the front end of the car (it?s like a double clunk, so to put it.) It mainly happens when the cars slowing down and turning, also the car seems to be getting a little under steer. Any ideas as to what the cause could be?

  I have a May07 a6 avant with xenon and steering 'linked' lights. I travel to France twice each month and noww winter is here am using the car in the dark in France. Audi say that I cannot use headlight deflectors due to the heat generated by the lights and don't know whether there is an adjuster to switch the lights from LHD to RHD. Nothing in the manual.

  Hi I am new to this site, have a question, about my sons Peugeot 306 xldtl, desiel engin car, let me explain he was traveling up motorway, engin over heated, hot water, coming out very hot ,got car home eventually. .it has been looked at tried to put new starter motor, no luck, seen by someone else, been told the valves have bent, the cam belt faulty, should he buy new engin, or new head, any surgestions as to what he should do, get rid of it maybe,?

  Hi looking for advise, I sold the Corsa SXI 1.2 1.6v person came back with it over heating, white smoke, running badly and over pressured coolant. I took the head off, got it skimmed, new head set set and rebuilt. All seemed well it runs very smooth person was happy, 10 days later get a call stating that the temperature light had came back on and the it had lost its coolant again.

  I'm assuming now I have to replace the caliper as the internal adjustment parts are not allowing the piston to retract slightly to release the disc. The wheel heats up after a couple of miles. Any help would be appreciated before i spend my hard earned cash ! Mikeymike

  The next day I took it to get a new spring fitted (I know I should have got the 2 done) but I only got the 1 side done. Since then, there is a strange noise coming from the front of the car, it only happens when there is 1 person in the car, if there are 2 people in the car it doesnt do it. With hindsight I realise I should definatley have got both front springs replaced and i,m presuming / hoping that this is whats causing the strange creaking / rumbling noise.

  I am thinking of buying an 06 registered Mondeo from my local ford dealer. It is a 1.8LX and around £9700. Seems to have a/c and heated screen as standard. What should I look for and what sort of mpg should I expect . Appreciate if anyone has any comments.

  Is any old black tape suitable for masking headlamps for continental driving. It has been suggested that some tapes can absorb enough heat to crack the glass or melt the acrylic on some newer headlamps. Bought masking material is not very expensive, but is the silver backing and special (removable) adhesive worthe the cost?

  Whilst rebuilding an escort gearbox I appear to be unable to fit a replacement 5th gear onto the splined shaft. I tried loads of heat and lots of pressure but it refuses to go all the way on, I know they are tight but this is solid any ideas Regards Peter.

  I previously had rear bumper sensors on the old one and I propose having them installed on the new. With the new car I can see nothing of the front of the car at all from the driving seat, which has made me consider sensors on the front bumper too. I live in an urban area where street parking easily is rare. Are front sensors more trouble than they are worth (from what I read) or are there sets on the market that do the job fairly comfortably?
