  • Help pick an SUV, auto, petrol Max £16K 5 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Not too bothered on inbuilt sat nav as can use the phones sat nav as only used sparely anyway. Like toys inside, but happy to add afterwards (rear camera, parking sensors etc) Thinking of things like Mokka X, 3008, 2008, Vitara, Grandland X, Kuga etc Also what's best way to buy? Outright, cash, bank loan, car finance, PCP? Heard on PCP that you can't add anything to the car, like parking sensors or camera or any own things would want if handing back.

  • Mazda CX-5 - Has my Dash Cam been installed wrong? 23 Jan 2017 (Forum)
and the rear image is upside down - seems as if the camera was installed the wrong way up. Also the installer has placed the front camera so close to the Rear View Mirror mount that I can not slide the Dash Cam to the right in order to remove it - the Police in my area have warned locals to do this as there has been a rise in car break in's just to nick the Dash Cam.

  • Foreign drivers let off 25 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Most speeding drivers caught by the force face a £60 fixed penalty and three points on their licence. However police said that if a driver is registered outside the UK, the camera offence is currently "rejected".'' Now go to France and try speeding or choose another european country and fail to carry your fluorescent jacket, spare set of bulbs, warning triangle and see if you get ' let off ".
  • An American law we should follow? 4 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I have heard many people discussing this innovative piece of legislation and wondered how it is policed in practice? Cameras surely could not be utilised? Does this mean for example, that travelling at an indicated 30mph in a 30mph area, as soon as I have 5 or more vehicles behind me, I have to pull over to let them speed past?
  • Red light ticket 19 Dec 2004 (Forum)
All i can say that it appeared safe to proceed and the other drivers gave way to us on signal controlled junctions and roundabouts. Now, assuming the camera had film in it (do they still have film? or are they digital now?) and so on, do i accept the fine and (gulp) the 3 points on the licence, or would i get anywhere appealing to their better nature?
  • Accident :-( 1 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I really can't face dealing with insurance companies right now, especially not with a £500 excess! This should of course be possible to claim back. Can I urge anyone who doesnt carry a camera to buy one now! They are only a few quid, but now I have clear evidence as to the position of the vehicles, prevailing road conditions etc. etc. Lovely start to the new year :-( Blue
  • Checking Up on Us 8 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Musing to myself driving home last night (as one does) I got to thinking about what checks are made on us as drivers. During the last week I recon that my speed has been checked on around sixty occasions by static cameras, on at least two occasions by mobile cameras and I have been stopped at a routine road block to check my tax disc. During the same period nobody has checked to see whether I have a driving licence, whether I have insurance, whether I have an MOT and my vehicle is road-worthy, whether my eyesight meets the minimum standard, whether I am intoxicated, whether I am under the influence of drugs, whether I am taking prescription or over the counter medication which is impairing my performance, or indeed whether I am carrying a knife or gun.
