Ford Ka water ingress around tailgate. 15 May 2007 (Forum)
I have noticed a few drops of water inside the car at the rear tailgate, more or less in the centre of the car, where the jack sits. Will it be the tailgate rubber seal do you think ? I have tried adjusting the tail gate lock so that i get a tighter fitting tailgate, but there does not appear to be a way of adjusting it at all. Any help and advice please, Thanks all. Graham. -
any - bouncing remote signals off your head? 16 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Ok, you're going to think this is an early April fool, bit i promise you its a genuine question. We have remote plippers to open gates/shutters, this all they are programmed for. One of the shutters in the system sometimes responds sometimes it doesn't, a colleague who is in the yard all day suggested i place the plipper beside my forehead and try, now i naturally assumed he was pulling my leg, but amazingly it works, the remote operating better and from further away. -

OK, was at a well known family holiday centre like Haven, Butlins etc.. in the car park (with gates and barriers to prevent public entry) I went into reception leaving my 12yr old son and 5yr old daughter to get out the car and come in when they were ready. They came in and my son said the duaghter fell out the car and the door knocked the door handle of the car next to us. -

Toyota Auris - Handbrake problems 24 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My sister in law parked her Year old Auris on a slope yesterday (in neutral. Yes we all know it should be left in gear). returned to her car to find it had rolled into a gate and stoved in the front wing. She has no problem putting the brake on. Straw poll of nosey neighbours concluded "ah yes thats because the discs were hot when parked and the pressure eased off when they cooled down" Is it feasable in this day and age that a handbrake could really be so unreliable? -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Cam belt Change costs 4 Jan 2010 (Forum)
A good result, because otherwise the car would have been left in an airport carpark at 90?. I supplied the Gates cambelt kit - which had been riding in the boot for the last 18 months as a guarantee that terminal failure would occur. -
Volkswagen Bora (1999 - 2006) - 99 V Reg, 1.9 TDI SE 110. Engine Starting Problems 9 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I've replaced the glow plugs and battery, had the fuel filter seal checked out - was ok. Replaced air flow meter and waste gate due to other problem. Was told could be relay to glow plugs? -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - Good Insurance Service 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, Ten days ago I pranged my 04 Accord Exec, reared into a gate. What a mess! Rang Churchill, no problem, they had it booked in inside 24 hrs, I got a loaner, the menders (UK Assist) kept me informed of dates, and I had it back in a week. The job is really good too, with a 5 year guarantee. -
Riley Elf in a new skin? 20 Dec 2005 (Forum)
However, the body of the vehicle was a modern one and I could not identify it for the life of me (I was driving past at 30mph and it was behind locked gates) It was a hatchback, auto, jet black and there was a word on the right rear of the boot, a short word. At a guess, I would say it was a Japanese car....but no idea really if I am right. Any ideas? -
Land Rover Discover 4 Landmark - HPICheck.com not honouring '£30,000 Guarantee' 5 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Was worried about being ripped off so did the full check with £30k guarantee if data was wrong or car turned out to be stolen. No mention of restrictions to cover all the way through signup process and check all came back clear making me think all totally fine. They claim to have the most accurate up-to-date data and give full reassurance of their checks to the extent that they will pay you back up to £30k of your losses. -
Access to turn round 9 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I did not see the neighbour last night as it was quite late when I returned from home and I will be working away tonight, but my first action will be to speak to the guy tomorrow and ask if he would be reasonable and move the gates back 3 metres to allow vehicles to turn around. This morning SWMBO had to act as a banksman so I could enter the main road safely. She will not do this in the winter..... / raining etc.... / and of course sometimes she will not be with me. -
Ford fiesta. - Thoughts?low mileage, 2k in 2 years. Is this good? 4 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Things I was going to check , battery, flat spots on tyres. , blocked water runs and rust - tail gate etc. , oil change regardless of mileage. Fluids in general. I once bought a low mileages pristine sports car and the turbos blew within a week as the oil channels were blocked through lack of use. -
BMW 320i or 320d - xdrive or winters. 3 Jul 2019 (Forum)
The 320d has always been the one to have due to superior torque and economy, but of course we have Diesel Gate. Also not sure whether to go for drive which seem are around £1500 more and economy is affected or should I just put winter tyres on? Other option I have is 420 grand coupe as it is a full hatch rather than saloon, but sits a bit lower I think. -
Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 26-11-2016 Part 1 5 Dec 2016 (Forum)
While it never broke down, it was getting stressful waiting for the next failure, so sold it and bought a RAV4 Petrol Hybrid last week. Stay away from this VW diesel, the diesel gate recall will probably make it worse as they have to modify the air mass sensor mesh! Go petrol but not a VW one as new ones will have a Particulate Filter fitted! -
Lane hogging on-the-spot fines start today 21 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Drivers middle lane hogging, tail gating, and using mobile phones phones, face tougher penalties from today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23713732 As far as middle lane hogging goes could this new enforcement have unintended consequences, could we see much busier inside lanes with unsafe distances between vehicles? -
Driving test. 11 Feb 2010 (Forum)
(for the pedants here, I passed the eyesight test) Came out with a pass and 1 minor (failed to recognise the level croissing with no gates sign) Relieved. My son would have extracted the you know what had I failed! I may or may not go for a taxi license - depends on how bored I get. -
Oh Deer 27 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I know someone who lives in the nearby village and have asked him if anyone there is farming deer - although that is mainly to point out that their gate was wide open and that this may not be a good idea. I'm just worried that someone with a clipboard will turn up asking why my mandatory driver's vetinary undertaker's training certificate seems to be missing; if they do then I'd like to be able to say that I thought I'd done right.... -
mazda 6 gearchange 1 Oct 2003 (Forum)
My ts2 diesel estate 9000 miles from new has a frequently rough gear change from first to second and aglitch(grate) in the middle of the gate from second to third present from new and improving only slightly.Anyone had similar?Should i reasonably expect the dealer to fix this? Car otherwise excellent -rattle free with brilliant ride, handling, engine refinement steering and braking particularly .Engine not as flexible as some however so take a careful test drive if you like to accelerate out of roundabouts in third or from 50(as opposed to 60) in top on the motorway! -
Speedcam Anywhere app 13 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Google refused to allow the team to publish it on the Play Store, saying it was not possible to estimate the speed of a passing vehicle using AI alone – a claim proved wrong when the company provided a demonstration of the technology. An iOS version has also been developed but Apple has yet to approve it for distribution and has not given a reason for the delay. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/apr/10/speed-camera-app-developers-face-abuse-from-uk-drivers
