  • Crazy finance deal & "non passed driver" 28 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Way back in around 1970 a mate of a mate - who I met occasionally had a desire for a brand new car. He earned very little and there was no way he could afford `regular` finance. However, one day he turned up in a brand new Ford Escort. The horror story is, that he had managed to find finance over 10yrs - but was paying back more than three times the cash price of the car.

I'm just curious... what wheels do British MPs normally drive ? are they financed by the state ? or maybe they just use public transport ? Ours - though financed completely by themselves - are somewhat impudent :/ http://juniorfoto.blog.pl/archiwum/index.php?nid=10327520 - - - - - - - I am the only Pole over here.
  • Paid car off - finance still not settled 17 Oct 2016 (Forum)
That aside; what's the situation? Finance co told me they may be waiting until the settlement figure expires (6th Oct) but even then - that's not right? Is it? How can they list a car with finance on it?  1st payment comes out month end and I don't want that to come out, given we had the car barely no time at all and I've paid my money to the dealership to have them settle the finance.
  • Car finance and repossession 14 Aug 2006 (Forum)
I'm asking on behalf of a mate who doesn't know I'm asking but any light shed on the situation would be helpful. Rightly or wrongly, my mate bought a car on finance that was far too expensive for him and as such, he failed (apparently only once) to pay the monthly repayments, so the finance company came along and repossessed it. Now throughout all this, he's been saying that they'll sell the car at auction, and he'll have to pay the shortfall - so if the car was 20 grand, and they sold it for 10, he'd owe them ten.
  • Audi S5 - balloon payment 23 Sep 2020 (Forum)
3 years ago I entered a pcp arrangement with VW Finance. I have been discussing changing my vehicle.  No where on my PCP documentation is there any mention of guaranteed market value ( balloon payment). When asking VW Finance for this they referred me to the dealer, who has made me an insulting offer for trade in.
  • Honda civic tourer - Hpi register 10 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Hello. We found a new car on saturday, got accepted for the finance monday and looked at collecting it saturday. We are purchasing from a main dealer so i thought no issues as my wife works for the dealer. Just been informed we may not be able to collect the car saturday as it still has a finance marker against it on hpi and our finance wont pay the dealer until the marker is removed.

  • Car Finance Laws 23 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I asked for them to fax me a copy of the agreement so I could read the terms and check all the details before making a 200 mile trip to sign and collect. I was told it?s illegal to send finance documents out, Anyone know if this is the case or a made up story? Thanks Chris
  • Opinions on ukcarbroker 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Afternoon, Couild I solicit opinions on the above dealer, I'm looking to buy a new car and the quote comes attached to a finance deal (at what appears to a reasonable interest rate). Should I be wary of such a deal or is this normal practice, there is an option to terminate the finance without penalty after 3 months? Thanks for any advice
  • Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - HPI (Part-Exchange) 14 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Colleague at work has a Nissan Almera. He is looking to part-exchange. But still has outstanding finance on the car. Can he part-exchange this car? If so how does he make sure the outstanding finance is paid?
  • Broker Cancellation Fees - Read the small print 25 Jan 2017 (Forum)
We have just taken on board a customer who was originally going to go with Company A. They filled in a finance application form (and were also told that to apply for finance they would need to sign the order form up front) and went on their way. They also approached us for a quotation and we came in £15/month cheaper.
  • Dealer Messing Me About 22 Feb 2007 (Forum)
They ended up cancelling and putting me off until the following day. To cut a long story short, since then both the dealership and their finance department have strung me along for just over a week, giving me different excuses each time. First it was that the finance company had requested a HPI check on my part-ex, which was then carried out (despite me already being billed for this) by the dealer and faxed to their finance department, and then on to the finance company When I called the next day, they claimed to have not received it from the dealer, so more delay.
  • Dealership is refusing to give back my deposit 15 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I told the dealer before paying the deposit that I didn't have the cash to pay for the car outright, and explained that I would require finance to pay for the outstanding amount (about £2,700). I asked the dealer to arrange finance but the finance was rejected based on my credit score. Because this was a verbal / telephone contract I have no written T&C's, but I do have a voicemail message from a secretary asking me to call with my details for the finance proposal.
  • corsa 07 reg sxi cdti - finance on written off car ?!? 19 Feb 2012 (Forum)
right so the deal is some old biddy didn't see me today how i don't know i'm big enough but anyway ran into me and pretty much killed my car although drivable there is some substantial damage to drivers side and all my air bags went off quoted £1000 for body work alone nevermind air bags with insurance companies writing off cars willy nilly i don't hold much hope for them repairing mine which is pretty heart breaking for me i paid half when bought 2 years ago and the rest was on finance now i know the insurance will pay my finance but what about all the early repayment fees?!? for what i have left to pay on finance plus fees i'm litrally going to have nothing and i can't be without a car for uni, work and other commitments. the accident wasn't my fault and other party took full liability is there any way around the early repayment fees i'd rather carry on paying the monthly payments and just recieve the full payment from the insurance company but no idea if they'll let me (its with black horse) any info on all this would be appreciated i'm only a student and didn't expect to be bumped on my way to uni this morning and havn't got money to be splashin out thanks to someone elses mistake, thanks in advance
  • HPI Check: Is it bulletproof? 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Lombard Business Finance stated that the car was subject to 'Unit Stocking' finance from them; but the next day Lombard declared to me that this had now been cleared and that they now had no interest in car. However, this did not show up on the repeat HPI Check - still listed as outstanding finance from Lombard.
  • Main dealer ? 4 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Someone got talking to me yesterday about car finance . What he was basically saying is that if you where to go to a main dealer for a used or new car citroen being cit , ford being ford etc..........................you where more likely to get finance there than if you where to go to a used car supermarket .
  • Who is legal owner? 4 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Hi folks If a dealer sells you s/hand car on p/x without clearing previous outstanding credit to finance company (or telling you), who owns the car? If the finance company writes to buyer after two months of purchase saying they are repoing it due to unpaid credit of previous owner, how do you keep it?
  • Sourcing & Finance Broker - Q&A 12 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I'm aware alot of you hold a certain amount of animosity towards brokers and also understand a reasonable amount of it is well founded, but some is not. Thought I would give you all the opportunity to ask any questions you have of a Finance and Sourcing Broker (me) who runs a proper FCA regulated company (my company) and knows how things 'should' be done. I know this has a chance of becoming a broker bashing thread, but I am thick skinned and so long as you keep it civil I'm happy to participate.

Close friend saw a second hand car they liked and were trading theirs in. Their car had £200 negative equity which the garage stated would be paid to the finance company. The week they were due to pick up the car it was not ready due to too many things wrong with it. Friend then decided not to go ahead with the new finance and cancelled.purchasing the car.
