I'm just curious... what wheels do British MPs normally drive ? are they financed by the state ? or maybe they just use public transport ?
Ours - though financed completely by themselves - are somewhat impudent :/

The PM has a bullet proof Beemer , a Landrover and a few others.
Senior ministers get Jags.
Further dow the food chain, ministers are often seen in Vauxhalls or Rovers.
MPs , i.e. not ministers drive their own cars and claim a mileage allowance for official use.

If the House of Commons courtyard is anything to go by, most junior ministers seem to be ferried around in Mondeos.

Whenever you see them on the telly, they either have a maroon Omega, a maroon Jag, or the premier has a black Range Rover. You know - the 4x4 ones.

For official use, PM uses either a Jaguar or a Range Rover. Senior SoS's get a Jaguar, the remainder a Vauxhall Omega. The one exception is Gordon Brown who could use a Jaguar but elects to take an Omega.

When Ken Clark was Chancellor he travelled in a red XR3i.

I see...
and what about Ken Livingstone ? I've noticed a guy in "Fifth Gear" trying to persuade him to take a ride in a Lex 400h... then it turned out it wasn't Ken after all.
