MG HS - Buyers regret. No thank heavens 9 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Daughter was told that the DAB radio function (missing on some models in the past year or so) and a dab pliug in kit on the windscreen provided instead, had been fixed and new models should arrive fully equipped. So went to order one with the proviso that would check the car before completing purchase and would then pay balance r if not wnated return of deposit. -
Toyota Avensis (2003 - 2008) - 05 2.0 Condensation in Near Side Headlamp 20 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Dear All, Changed the dipped headlight and sidelight lamps on Saturday morning. Headllight was a bit fiddly due to close proximity of windscreen washer filler pipe. Put car through car wash and noticed a few hours later condensation on inside face of clear head light plastic lense. Could not see how moisture entered headlamp. No damage to headlamp lense and both the head lamp shroud and side light lamp all seamed secure. -

The plan is to roll out to other cities. There are four bands, older cars are excluded from day one. Cars in band 2 will be excluded from 1st Jan. 2010 when a review of the NOx levels will be done and if necessary future plans will be made to exlude the next band of vehicles. -
Microfibre Magic 17 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Hi gang - just bought one of those super duper microfibre cloths tjust to give it a try. Super! Great at removing all sorts of marks from hard surfaces and terrific on the car. Removed my sons' sticky finger marks from the windows and the 'film' which always seems to coat the inside of the windscreen and removing smears etc. from the dashboard etc. Haven't tried it on the exterior as I haven't washed it for a while but I'm sure it's going to be great - we suffer from hard water and unless the car is properly dried after washing any remaining droplets leave an annoying limescale residue. -

Hi all, Parked my car on the High Street in High Wycombe today, as its a Bank Holiday Monday, a lot of people were parking their cars a long the High Street like they do on Sundays. I parked my motor in virtually the same spot as i did the sunday last week, but this time as i came back about 10 mins later, there was the dreaded ticket slapped on my windscreen, gulp!!!! -
new honda civic 30 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Screeching Brakes, creaking underneath which after many visits to the delaer resulted in new suspension struts on a car of 1500 miles! New windscreen seal as faulty. Yes the Honda dealer is helpful but on new honda all of this plus rear body fender not fastened --a Japanese car build in uk. Thing is i changed from bog standard Astras which never had a problem or rattle they just drove. -
French bred 3 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Particularly noticeable, and impressive, were the many Renault 4, 9 and 11s, some well over 20 years old, most battered and bruised but still up to the job (and with their current MoT equivalent certificates on the windscreen). Perhaps Renault made their cars simpler then and, QED, they were more reliable? Oh (and this hurts) an interesting footnote: was in a Peugeot main dealer with a relative, and noticed the hourly labour rate displayed - 27 Euros (£18ish) an hour. -
Police do U-turn on blue washer lights 5 Apr 2004 (Forum)
This may surprise some folk... A chap fitted blue LED windscreen washer lights, as used by boy racers et al. He was seen by the Police who, understandably IMHO, fined him. The motorist, who is too old to be a boy racer even though his car is an ageing Fiesta, didn't want to make a fuss, and stumped up the fine. -

Xantia Suspension Strange Behaviour Help 27 Jun 2007 (Forum)
i have taken the following notes and measurements on the suspensions settings and behaviour, ive referred to the settings as 1,2,3,4 with 1 being the lowest setting and 4 the highest. from starting the car and putting it on setting one, both the front and rear suspension sits down correctly and measures, front 31cm from arch to wheel centre approx, rear 24.5cm approx then put it to setting 2 (normal ride height) the rear rises up but the front stays down, front 31cm, rear 32cm then setting 3, car sits up properly both front and back nice and level, front 40.5 rear 42.5 then setting 4, rear stays at 42.5 front rises to 45cm thats what happens when you go through the settings, if you go back to setting 1 (lowest) then, setting 2 it behaves as above, if you then go to setting 3, wait for the stop light to go out then put it straight back to setting 2 then the front rises to the normal ride height along with the rear and measures front 38.5 rear 38.5cm if you go from setting 4 (highest) to setting 3 then the front drops down to the bump stops and the rear sticks up on high. -

Why front end is lower? 19 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Many cars (hatchback, saloon, SUV etc.), when viewing from side, appear as front end lower than back end. Is it a deliberate design? If yes why so? Do they expect rear end to go down with passengers over time? -

Peugeot 205 diesel hatch - N/S front wheel no drive 8 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Hi, I have lost drive on the n/s front wheel discovered after jacking up the front end. Guess this is a drive shaft issue but is this an easy remedy with replacing or not cost effective? How difficult is this to replace DIY or garage. The car now has 250,000 on the clock but still runs well and is in great condition for L reg.
