The company estimated the repair bill for Monday is likely to be about £60 million. It predicted the economy would lose a further £5.25 million due to workers taking time off to sort out damage to their cars.

  SEAT has announced a lower than expected price of £16,995 for its 210bhp Leon Cupra R, and deliveries have already begun. The hand-built front-drive Cupra R offers 147mph performance with 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. Modifications over and above the standard 180bhp Cupra R include twin force fed intercoolers, 18” alloy wheels, four-pot Brembo front brake callipers, faster steering at 2.5 turns lock to lock and SEAT’s Agile Chassis Concept (ACC) of special spring and damper rates and revised suspension geometry.

  People behind the wheel of the new Ford Mondeo are guaranteed "smooth and stress-free travel", thanks partly to new technology, the car manufacturer has suggested. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) that comes with the model ensures that drivers can take to the road in comfort, Ford said in a statement. Indeed, ACC also provides extra safety to motorists by utilising radar technology that automatically slows the vehicle down if a car in front puts on its brakes.

  At the Geneva Motor Show in March next year, Skoda will be unveiling its follow-up to the car. In addition, the company commented that it has performed particularly well on the home front. "To date Skoda has sold a total of 102,796 vehicles in central Europe which include the sales in Skoda's home market of the Czech Republic," the automaker stated.

  The system uses a combination of radar, sonar, and video sensors along with driver based parameters. When activated it allows the car to automatically adjust its speed to a that of the car in front, its lane position based on road markings, and the appropriate speed based. It won’t break speed limits, either. Drivers must still pay attention, though, because it’s not a fool proof system.
