Steve Evans, chief executive of Accident Exchange, said: "Driver inexperience is to blame with people coming across marooned cars and hitting them, driving too fast or too close to the car in front." The company estimated the repair bill for Monday is likely to be about £60 million. It predicted the economy would lose a further £5.25 million due to workers taking time off to sort out damage to their cars. -

SEAT has announced a lower than expected price of £16,995 for its 210bhp Leon Cupra R, and deliveries have already begun. The hand-built front-drive Cupra R offers 147mph performance with 0-60 in 6.9 seconds. The adaptive cruise control (ACC) that comes with the model ensures that drivers can take to the road in comfort, Ford said in a statement. The system uses a combination of radar, sonar, and video sensors along with driver based parameters. When activated it allows the car to automatically adjust its speed to a that of the car in front, its lane position based on road markings, and the appropriate speed based. It won’t break speed limits, either. Drivers must still pay attention, though, because it’s not a fool proof system. -
