  • Ford Fusion - Front Wheel Bearings 10 Sep 2021 (Forum)
Whilst driving between 30km and 50km a low humming or whinning sounds appears - it sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side ..... I asked my garage and he said without looking at the car it sounds like a front wheel bearing.... and said the price varies between front and back bearings....I have noticed this noise for the past two months....I dont drive a lot just locally and a rare motorway trip for about an hour....am I right to assume it is a wheel bearing and if so what is the cost of replacing this?
  • Parking Sensors 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Would any member of this forum care to recommend some retrofittable parking sensors. 1. Rear parking sensors, should be able to detect low walls. 2. Front parking sensors, need to be accurate at front "corners " of the car. Like many vehicles these days, you can't really judge where the front left corner of the car is and when reversing in to a kerb side space this is critical as you swing the front in, Same when coming out. 3, Colour coding should be available for the sensors. 4.

  • The heating has stopped working in my Mazda CX-5 - is there a solution? 8 Feb 2018 (Ask HJ)

  • Citroen C3 Picasso - Shunt dynamics - help needed 15 May 2015 (Forum)
This explains the minimal damage to the car in front and the damage pattern to my car. However, I'm struggling to explain the lack of substantial damage to the car that hit me. I don't know whether I was hit as the car behind was at the end of braking and therefore 'poked' into the car in front.
  • Spray on Window Tint 7 Sep 2009 (Forum)
A few days later a mate and I decided on a trip to the Isle of white (happening place in those days).....and having still had no trouble with the tint, decided to go in my newly blinged up motor. All was fine until we were waiting in the Ferry car park, it was a long wait so we got a couple of coffees and stood em on the dash........about 3 minutes later the tint was running down the windscreen and was such a snip mess that I couldn't see properly to drive.
  • Front discs 13 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Anyone know what causes front discs to rust? Just had to change my Peugeot 205 XLD front discs after an MOT failure due to rust. They were only two years old and I have done 15,000 miles on them. Perhaps I don't use the car enough or brake hard enough?
  • tyre rotation 3 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Hi My car is almost three years old and the front tyres are showing wear to about 2mm above the markers. The rear ones look fine, Is it a good idea to rotate front to back or just to buy two new front ones.
  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - Bye bye S60... :-( 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Unlike a lot of other manufacturers, Volvo seem able to design it so it all keeps working as the car ages as well. Literally apart from one heated mirror, everything works, and has always done so. I will miss its comfort, its styling, and its sheer feel good factor to drive. After 27,000 miles with the car, the only criticisms are its thirst (outside of motorway use), its appalling turning circle, its fidgety low speed ride, and its stingy rear leg room for such a big car.
  • Ford Maverick - Advice needed re a refund 28 Nov 2015 (Forum)
They would ring me on Friday. I paid a deposit, and was intending to pick up my car the following Saturday. Friday - No-one rang. I phoned them, and was told that the windscreen had been repaired but there had been a problem with the power-steering pump, which was now fixed, though the car was still at the garage.

  • Parked car heaters - any news? 1 Jan 2004 (Forum)

  • Spin tryer 22 Dec 2012 (Ask HJ)

  • Front lock-up on golf gti ???? 13 Feb 2006 (Forum)
However by the time the car got home the wheels had "Un-locked" themselves and were rolling freely. He was a bit baffled by this and put the car front up on jacks, (front wheel drive), and "drove the car" through all the gears without any problem.
  • New Car Time - Replacing Nissan Primera P11-144 6 Dec 2013 (Forum)
Other things are niceties, but I think if I had to put two things at the top of my list for other most desirable things, it would be: Front Fog Lights for the aesthetics - they really do change the look of a car (even though I don't use them) and heated front screen.   My current car is a Nissan Primera P11-144 1.8, so that is my benchmark.
  • Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 05 1.8 Climate Control System Problem 28 Aug 2009 (Forum)
This did not cure the problem and introduced a new fault - the airflow is now wrongly directed, for example I have to select the windscreen vents to get air to come out of the fascia vents. The car is back in the garage. They have replaced a resitor but now seem to have no idea what to try next. Any ideas?
  • Rust Repair Cost 27 Mar 2009 (Forum)
m after a ball park figure to get the following rust/paint repair carried out: Rust on all 4 wheel arches. 10p size rust patch on door frame above window 3 Bumper scuffs Rust along top edge of windscreen 10p rust on leading edge of bonnet. Car is metallic silver. From the looks of things the rust is surface rust, and has not eaten through the metal. I?m getting quotes later on this week, it would be nice to have a ball park.
