Not sure I would buy another next base cam 14 months old and the battery is goosed Next base not interested in any Goodwill claim saying the recent heatwave would have caused the battery malfunction Hmm strange that that a device designed to sit behind a windscreen in all weathers has a weak battery -

Car Recommendation 22 May 2018 (Forum)
Hi All, I have really been struggling to find my next car of choice which I intend to keep for the next few years. I want it to be slightly luxurious, no bigger than medium sized, ideally an automatic (but no biggie), petrol, and more importantly have all the extra such as pano roof, heated seats and sensors or reverse camera. -
Main dealer used John Cooper Works Mini Clubman - Haggling 18 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I really don't like haggling. On a 5live interview with a couple of motor trade professionals, it was said that these days car dealers cut margins so tightly that the advertised price IS the price. Are you wasting your time with main dealers when it is a 100% cash purchase. I used to think that anyone walking into a showroom and paying the price on the windscreen was an unbelievable mug. -
Vent phone holder any good? 19 Mar 2024 (Forum)
It is frustrating that modern cars don't have built-in phone holders. I do have a built-in navigation system, but prefer to use the one on my phone. The windscreen is a far way away and these Amazon phone holders seem to use both suction and glue. -
Peugeot 307 - mystery unconnected cable 8 May 2011 (Forum)
while checking for a leak on the windscreen wash water bottle (reservoir) i removed the wheel arch cover and found a mystery cable branching from the one which is connected to the bottle, it has a yellow connector and is about 18 inches long have looked long and hard but cant see any where to connect it, i've never had any work done on this part of the car since new , is it for retro fitting fogs in the spoiler? -
Unlucky - but lucky - seen in passing - incidents 11 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I remember driving past a car at the side of the road on the York bypass about 20yrs ago. The driver was sitting there with his white shirt drenched in blood and guts. His windscreen was concave and in the centre of this area the remains of a cock pheasant could be seen, mostly retained in the glass. -
Astra F (1997) Heater Controls 24 Mar 2010 (Forum)
I'm guessing this is a problem with the switch, but what I find strange is that the 4 on the dial is on a separate indentation to the 1,2 and 3, and the owners manual says to use 4 for demisting the windscreen, but says to rapidly warm the car I should turn the dial to 3. Has anyone had a similar problem to this, and if so, what's the easiest/cheapest/best way to fix it? Thanks in advance Kev Preston, Lancs. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 01 1.8 Third brake light problem ? 20 Jan 2010 (Forum)
the brake light on the inside of the car on the rear windscreen has come loose and is dangling from its wires, still working. Is it a legal requirement to have a working rear tail light, or can i just take it off. I have tried previously to stick it back on with superglue, but it only lasted a few months. -
Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 00 1.5 Strange Instrument behaviour 14 Dec 2008 (Forum)
SWMBO's Saxo diesel has developed a strange glitch with some of the instruments lately. The clock has started to gain two hours a week and the temperature gauge now emulates a windscreen wiper, sweeping up and down from top to bottom all the time the ignition is on. The only thing down to the car recently was when I fitted new glow plugs and I can't see a connection with that. Anyone got any ideas? -
Wiper Blades 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
They clear water really well but they make the most horrific scraping sounds on the glass unless there is a lot of water present. If it is just drizziling a bit it is awfull. I have tried windscreen polish as advised by the garage but this only helps for a few miles. Is there anything I could do to make them less screachy. Would silicone spray on the blades help or will it just smear? BTW they have been like this since I bought the car in November. -
Rover 414 Si -wet footwell 26 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have just got my first car, a P reg Rover 414. I think its great, but last week after leaving it overnight in heavy rain , the drivers side footweel was soaked and had a pool of water in it. My Dad says he's looked in all the obviuos places, sunroof, hoses, door seals , windscreen seal but can't see any obvious place for the water to get in. -
What price BMW Mini? 20 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Driving past my local Stephen James BMW Mini dealership the other day, I saw, outside on the forecourt a new (presumably) Mini convertible in white/cream with a price tag of some £27k+, in the windscreen. Doing only a modicum of research, I could not find what type of Mini this could be to cost that amount of money - does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Would anyone in their right mind pay that amount for that sort of car, I wonder - Yes is the probable reply, I suppose. -
Road Angel & Installation 2 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Just bought one of these devices owing to frequent encounters with cameras.Excellent at highlighting local blackspots, North Derbyshire, where I have indeed seen several accidents in recent times.Local fixed cameras all highlighted as well. I'll want to make the installation neater in due course. Car is a 2001 Passat- anyone had experience of concealing a power cable? I'm hoping that there is a gap between the dashboard and windscreen to feed the cable to the steering column area where hopefuly there will be a suitable power source. -
Electric failure (temporary) Merc 11 Oct 2001 (Forum)
I have 1998 C class Mercedes estate 1800, auto, which is great - except that while my wife was driving in France there was sudden electric failure covering windscreen cleaner, turn flashers, and door s were unlocked. A friend with an E class said a similar thing happened to him. With my own car it was the second time it has happened - but without any attention all is now ok.... any ideas or has anyone else the same problem? -
Mazda MX-5 Mk1 1997 - Heated rear window wiring 10 Oct 2011 (Forum)
There's an existing female connector just behind the passenger seatbelt post, then there are 2 'spare' connectors by the battery in the boot; one white/opaque with wiring of 1-2 mm thickness attached and a black one with approx 4 mm thick wiring, presumably carrying a heavier current. I believe one of these two would be used when an electric aerial is fitted, however this car has a manual 'screw-in' aerial. Finally, there's a further black 'spare' connector just behind the carpet in the boot, close to the number plate. Excuse the lengthy post - I'm sure this is an easy job once I know which of the car's connectors come into play, and would like the satisfaction of doing it myself if I can.
