  • Rover 420SLDT Starting Probs 21 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Hi,I was wondering if anyone has got any ideas regarding my starting problems.I went to start it this morning bearing in mind it was very cold with a heavy frost,I pre-heated it in the usual way but it wouldn't fire,I tried it again and once again there was no joy,now I know the glow plugs are ok as I checked them last weekend, the pre heat light comes on and goes out very quickly after about 4-5 seconds.I managed to get it started in the end by putting 1 jump lead on + and shorting the glow plugs out and then it started fine,it was almost as if it didn't preheat or for not long enough, has anyone got any ideas to help me out.I was wondering if the preheat relay was faulty???

  • Can I fit all-weather or winter tyres to my front wheels only? 21 Dec 2013 (Ask HJ)

  • Ford Escort (1983 - 1990) - 90 1.3 Rumbling noise from front of car. 25 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I took my ford escort 1990 eclips to the garage to let them diagnose a rumbling / knocking noise I have coming from the front of the car when driving. The noise has got louder over the past recent five months. The noise is less evident when going up quite a steep hill where I live. Also when steer the car on a bend to the right its not as load until I straighten up the car again.
  • Omega water leak into front footwells 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
I have recently acquired a V reg 2.5 V6 Omega and it appears to let rain water in to the front footwells (particularly the passenger side). This only seems to occur when the car has been parked on a slope facing downwards - the water seems to collect somewhere in the engine compartment in front of the dashboard whilst the car is angled and then flows into the footwell (from behind the plastic fashia panel near to the door) when the car is driven level.

  • Parking Politics... 16 Feb 2004 (Forum)
On Tuesday, the city council did this http://groups.msn.com/honestjohn/pologirlsparkingnightmares.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=175 to our car park, meaning that where you used to be able to get around 15 cars around the central circle and many more around the kerb, less than ten people can now park. The other option is to park around the front, on the roads that go around the flat complex.
  • Why do bikes have separate brakes for front & rear 9 Jan 2009 (Forum)

  • Mazda 3 - Window Misting 7 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Our car bought in 2018 is very good in most of the gizmos etc on it however there is one very annoying feature and we don't know if it something we are doing or something else.  You can be driving along with no problems and all of a sudden the windscreen and side windows mist up really badly and the only way to clear them is to put the fan on full together with the air conditioning.
  • Peugeot 406 GLX 1998 - Climate Control display blank 1 Jul 2010 (Forum)

  • Last night's booby prize goes to 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The driver of the Ford Focus heading Northbound around junction 27 on the M1 who had a large sat nav system (Navman sized?) half way between the rear view mirror and the base of the windscreen. They didn't appear to have worked out that the unit had a "nightview" setting yet, either.... On an up side, having been tailgated coming off the M5 onto the M42 by a large non artic curtain sided lorry, I was pleased to see him being pulled by a (presumably unmarked) traffic car at the next junction having, I guess, tried the same trick with him!
  • Nuisance Parking 3 May 2006 (Forum)
Someone has taken to parking directly outside his house meaning he's having to park down the street when he'd prefer to park outside his property. I'm inclined to think there's not much he can do except have a chat with the car owner or leave a polite note on the windscreen, but he'd appreciate any ideas/advice you can give. Thanks Lee -- You don\'t sell the steak, you sell the sizzle
  • High pressure spray wash 2 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Scared me --I could see my paint flying off down the road not to mention my wiper blades and bonnet badge. So i did not get over close --result a half clean car. Frankly it really needed a rub over with a sponge to shift the grime. Question how do you use a high pressure spray without dislodging your windscreen ? Any advice please.
  • Seat toledo ventilation problem 22 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I suspect it is a dashboard off job, and I am only really interested in doing anything about it if I can do it myself. It is not worth spending serious money on. There is no Haynes manual for this car so I do not really know where to start. Can anyone help?
