Can I fit all-weather or winter tyres to my front wheels only?

My diesel Vectra will need two new front tyres soon. With the approach of winter this seems a good time to consider cold weather tyres or all-weather tyres. Would it be safe and legal to have cold weather tyres or all-weather tyres on the front and the existing summer tyres on the rear?

Absolutely not. They have to be on all four wheels or your car could go out of control when braking or when descending a snowbound hill. I recommend Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons for all year round.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
