V5 information incorrect 9 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I have bought a 2011 Mondeo that is a German Import. It has a 60 reg. The V5 shows the date of 1st registration as 1 Jan 2011 however I have a print out from the Ford ETIS system that lists the build date as 2 Feb 2011 (which is consistent with the model since it has stop start fitted and it wouldnt have been fitted if built in early Jan) and the warranty start date as 11 March 2011 (warranty starting from the date of delivery per Ford terms). -

Hyundai Tucson 2.00 CRDT Limited 2007 (56 plate) - Tyres and ESP 29 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Nexen aren't a budget tyre but they're not up there with the best and the main reason I've gone for a 4x4 is to make life easier if we have another winter like the last two, so it's important that the tyres perform reasonably in slippery conditions. Has anyone any experience of these tyres in winter conditions? Question two. Does anyone know if this model incorporates ESP as there is no control for it or is fitted and permanently active with no manual override as in my wife's Vectra. -

Electric Cars 1 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My view is that battery electric vehicles do have a bright future as a niche product - small urban electric cars and vans where range is not an important factor. I think the G-Wiz, though very basic, has paved the way for a generation of better and slightly bigger urban electric vehicles. Modec electric vans (roughly Fort Transit sized) and trucks appear to be quietly gaining favour in cities. -
Servicing a low mileage vehicle - necessary? 27 Oct 2009 (Forum)
I pointed out that the last 2 services have only been 'interim' ones, as will this one, so we're already perhaps pushing our luck. I've never done DIY servicing so that's not currently an option. So what do you think - how important is a yearly basic service on an aging low mileage vehicle? Any ammunition I can use in an argument will be gratefully received :-) -
Need a home servicer for a feature 7 Aug 2009 (Forum)
If you're able to help, click on my link and email me with your name, age, profession, car and location. Profession is important because we want to show that regular people can and do tackle service jobs themselves. Nothing too strenuous required. I'll have a chat with you and a photographer will pop by to take your picture. -
FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - Problem with Pirelli tyre 1 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I thought it important to bring this to owners' attention as I appreciate not many drivers check their tyres thoroughly and to find out if anyone else has experienced this. We have got a 1.2 G/Punto which has covered about 15,000 miles and both rear tyres although they have plenty of tread left are showing signs that the side walls are collapsing and both front tyres have actually got a lot of wire sticking out through the tread patterns around the entire circumference. -
Renault Scenic (1996 - 1998) - 1998 1.6 auto- engine won't start. 26 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I wonder if the car is worth repairing but he has just spent £350 on it (tyres, exhaust and mirror) in preparation for the MOT. The car is important to my Father as he not very mobile and uses it to get around. shouting hushed -
Mitsubishi - Too Much Advertising 5 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Wherever you go theres an ad giving you huge discounts well beyond the norm. Now I might be suspicious especially with suggestions that Mitsubishi have taken over the UK Importer, The Colt Car Company, but is this panic advertising? I do understand that the manufacturer will have a vastly bigger advertising budget to Colt Cars but there still appears to be far too much especially in a shrinking market. -
Is now a good time to buy a 3 year old MINI Cooper 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Am a bit concerned that the MINI bubble may burst with the financial panic going on at the minute and as we are looking to keep it only 2 years or so, residual value is important. No good offering alternatives as I have tried that and a MINI it has to be unfortunately. Her perfectly reliable 11 year old Rover 214 that we have owned for 7 years isnt trendy enough in the works carpark anymore I suspect! -
is she completly off her rocker 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
my sister in law bless her drives an imported(from the US) chevy avalanche, this is one big truck, i saw it for the first time today and it completly blew me away its a beauty but when questioned on the specs of the truck she gave me that look that only women can give in response to anything automotive or sport related. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - (99-04)2.2 petrol - ABS problem (UK car in Malawi) 19 Apr 2008 (Forum)
We have a car here in Africa that a customer imported from UK so different to our normal specs. however the brakes are giving a typical ABS pulsing sensation when braking at slow speeds (Brake and clutch together type speeds) and there is a significant grating noise as the vehicle stops. -
Speedometer size and position on the dashboard 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
are we all supposed to be deaf?) Also the gradations on many speedos are set at 0;20;40;60;80;mph etc whereas the most important speed is 30 and 70mph and 50mph is almost as common as 40mph. I know most of the cars are produced abroad now but do the designers of cars never visit GB when they specify the instrumentation What are the journalists doing about this? -
Toyota Yaris (1999 - 2005) - New tyres required opinions please 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Two new front tyres are required on SWMBO Yaris - at moment 195/50/15 Toyo Proxi's are on and they have been very good tyres - I have done a search and have come up with a list and all are priced around £55-£65 each -budget tyres are not considered Toyo Proxi's Avon ZV3 Goodyear GT2 Continental Eco Contact or Premium Contact Michelin Pilot Elacto 2 All these tyres fall in same price bracket give or take £15 the pair - before I go out and get some more Toyo's has anyone any views on those I have listed or any I haven't listed - tyre noise is not an issue as the Yaris is about the noisiest car I have ever been in but wear and wet grip is important Thanks Dave -
New Car This Summer - Ideas 18 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I would like to get something that is fun to drive for when I am home and has a bit of class to it. Also residuals are important as I would like to tie my money up in something that isnt going to sit at home for 3 years depreciating like a stone/fiesta. I dont mind something a bit older (but not too much) and with a few more miles (Fiesta has 32000) as I wont be putting that much on. -
Buying car over the phone / internet 2 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Surely this is unfair contract terms applies as a company cannot just cannot opt out of the law on one hand. On the other this company uses EU regs on car manufacturers and import cars from wherever - undercutting UK based companies. Have we any BR lawyers about? -

Car recommendation for my fair lady 31 Jan 2006 (Forum)
First of all, am I right in thinking that she'd be safer in a say Suzuki Grand Vitara, than a Golf? And also importantly would this still apply if it was the 3-door Grand Vitara/Rav4 say. Important 'cos the shorter length would be easier for her to cope with, living in Laaandan. My budget is 4000grand. Could buy old Grand Vitara, but Rav4 out of reach I think. Honda CR-V to big. HR-V too expensive still.
