To the BMW X5 owner... 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
To the BMW X5 owner who decided to occupy four parking spaces at the local Sainsbury this morning during the busiest time, the dent on your nearside is from a car who struggled to squeeze in next to you, at which point the wind appeared to catch his door as he opened it *very* carefully, and the scratch on your bumper is from a heavily laden trolley, which also got caught by the wind. -
BMW E30 Cambelt Snap ( HELP ) 20 Oct 2006 (Forum)
My Cambelt snapped on my E30, M20 engine (BMW 320i Convertable 1991) . I bought the new belt and followed the Haynes manual to the letter for replacement. When completed the job, I tried to start engine but when cranking it sounds like any engine does if you crank it without the sparkplugs being in. -
BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 04 320d SE Tourer, oil consumption 9 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi, Could anybody help me out, l purchased a BMW 320d SE Tourer last year, on a 54 plate, l bought it 7 months old with 6000 miles on the clock, and since then l have noted it seems to use about 3/4 of a litre of oil per 2000 miles. Is this the correct oil consumption, for this type of car, as it seems excessive to me. -
BMW 5 Series Bluetooth Phone 2 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I have a 530d fitted with the bluetooth phone system, with a Nokia 6310i in the BMW supplied (expensive) cradle. After nearly two years of use I am not sure this is any better than a hard wired installation. My main criticism is the sound quality and reception. My understanding (from the dealership) was that the phone & cradle connector pins enabled a direct connection with the car's mirophone & speakers, aerial etc. -
BMW service and repair estimate 14 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I have been given an estaimate for my 5 year old 318 inspection 2 service plus repairs. My main concern is the steering vibration which has been put down to worn rubber bushes, BMW are reccomending complete change of wishbones as these can not be obtained separtely, is this true? They are also recommending a change of the crankcase vetilation valve and hose to cure a slight vibrating idle speed. -
USA 7 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Just got back from New York, I got in in the end after all the panic, and I noticed a distinct lack of BMW's. Loads of Merc S-Class and E-Class a fair few Lexus and of course loads of big American Lincoln Town car's but very few BMW's. I would have thought the X5 would have been a huge seller but I only saw one. -
BMW V8 Cuts Out 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
We have a 1998 BMW 535i V8 with an intermittent engine cut out problem. When starting the engine (generally when it is between hot and cold) the engine will fire as normal, run for a few seconds and then cut out. Often it can take 3 or 4 restarts until the engine will run normally. -

Stolen from Bridgewater (Somerset) on June 25th 2003. Vehicle now believed to be in Bristol area. Tel 07860 308872. Obviously I can't reproduce the picture here but it looks like a 3 door 3 series type body. -
Secure child seats for BMW 5 series 6 May 2003 (Forum)
I have tried to find a car seat that will sit securely in the back seats (I will need to put two baby seats in the back, one for a two yr old and one for a nine month old) but cannot find one that will not sway sideways. I have tried BMW, Halfords and even asked the Police! to no avail. The problem appears to be due to the slight bucket style of the seat itself and the belts coming from the centre to lock into the receptor which is in the seat itself. -
E30 BMW Overheating - Help! 16 Apr 2003 (Forum)
My 1991 BMW 318IS has suddenly begun to overheat quite badly. On the way up to London the needle was just off the red zone on the temp. guage and this was with the heating on full blast! The inlet side of the radiator is very hot and the outlet side and pipe is stone cold. -
BMW M3 EVO - Any advice? 30 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Hi i am now looking to buy a bmw m3 evolution from 1997 onwards. I really like the performance of them and the used market for them is quite reasonable when you look at other rivals (merc amg's, porsches, etc..). Basically I am looking to get the coupe version too. -
TMC 1 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Traffic Message Channel. Supposed to be the digital equivalent of TP for SatNav systems. I have a new BMW with SatNav installed, and the system is TMC enabled. Has anyone in the UK got it working? Seems to be confusion all round. BMW have said its not yet available 'cos Classic FM (th UK carrier) don't know what to charge, but the system's all ready when it is. -

BMW 3 Series Touring E91 - Buying the company beemer 18 Jan 2011 (Forum)
When I chose the BME I test drove an Octavia 4WD, which was quite a nice car, but too hight in Co2 emissions to have as a company car. Is it likey to have any better long term reliability than the BMW? Any suggested alternatives. I expect to do about 12k miles a year, like an estate to carry various clobber about, and have got used to diesel torque, having had 2 excellent 320Ds in a row (nothing went wrong with the first in 60K miles, this one is the new E91 and had to be resuced by BMW assist at 37K miles when the temperature sensor failed, stranding me. -
BMW 3-Series E46 Compact (2001 - ) - 01 2.0d Whats this fluid behind the bulkhead 16 Jun 2009 (Forum)
We have a BMW 320D compact in the family, good car, had it's share of problems earlier. Turbo went at 45K, replaced by BMW under warranty, whilst doing so they apparently replaced the risky inlet manifold, so hopefully she'll carry on for a while, now done about 115K miles, gets regular maintenance and goes like hell.
