  • Front discs 13 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Anyone know what causes front discs to rust? Just had to change my Peugeot 205 XLD front discs after an MOT failure due to rust. They were only two years old and I have done 15,000 miles on them. Perhaps I don't use the car enough or brake hard enough?
  • tyre rotation 3 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Hi My car is almost three years old and the front tyres are showing wear to about 2mm above the markers. The rear ones look fine, Is it a good idea to rotate front to back or just to buy two new front ones.

  • Citroen C3 Picasso - Shunt dynamics - help needed 15 May 2015 (Forum)
This explains the minimal damage to the car in front and the damage pattern to my car. However, I'm struggling to explain the lack of substantial damage to the car that hit me. I don't know whether I was hit as the car behind was at the end of braking and therefore 'poked' into the car in front.

  • Front lock-up on golf gti ???? 13 Feb 2006 (Forum)
However by the time the car got home the wheels had "Un-locked" themselves and were rolling freely. He was a bit baffled by this and put the car front up on jacks, (front wheel drive), and "drove the car" through all the gears without any problem.
  • Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - 05 1.8 Climate Control System Problem 28 Aug 2009 (Forum)
This did not cure the problem and introduced a new fault - the airflow is now wrongly directed, for example I have to select the windscreen vents to get air to come out of the fascia vents. The car is back in the garage. They have replaced a resitor but now seem to have no idea what to try next. Any ideas?
  • Rust Repair Cost 27 Mar 2009 (Forum)
m after a ball park figure to get the following rust/paint repair carried out: Rust on all 4 wheel arches. 10p size rust patch on door frame above window 3 Bumper scuffs Rust along top edge of windscreen 10p rust on leading edge of bonnet. Car is metallic silver. From the looks of things the rust is surface rust, and has not eaten through the metal. I?m getting quotes later on this week, it would be nice to have a ball park.
  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - leak in passenger footwell 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
for a while now my partners car has been quite damp in the passenger footwell. Obviously this has become worse this winter. We have dried it out as best we can and then got the hose pipe out but cant find where it is coming from.
  • Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 1997 1.3 - water in NSF footwell 14 Dec 2007 (Forum)
My better halfs 1997 Ford Ka 1.3 has a water leak on the NSF only, I have sealed around the windscreen , but this did not work, so dont know if its the door seal or the inside of the wing, the car does not have a sunroof, all other footwells are ok. There is another site which states this as a common fault, they want £12 to register before letting you know where the probable fault is, thought ot would be better to try the cheaper option first.
  • Polo Mk3 battery well 20 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Call me nuts, but I don't like the battery sitting under the windscreen driver side. The car has gone all rusty in there and water leaks into the footwell, if it is parked facing up-hill. I had it welded a good 6 - 8 years ago and it is now all rusty again. (originally it was caused by battery acid leaking from the crappy VW battery which was supplied from new (previous owner), I put a sealed one in. but the damage has been done.
  • Old wipers---new wipers 19 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Once upon a time I was taught how to stop wipers making that vile scraunching noise on the windscreen. Grab 'em where the arm meets the blade and give 'em a twist--direction depending on scrauch on the up or on the downstroke. dead simple. However more and more cars have these fancy pants solid rubber blade things without the mass of wobbling bits of bent metal. grabbing them by the whatsits and squeezing does not have the desired effect.
  • Parked car heaters - any news? 1 Jan 2004 (Forum)

  • Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - Bye bye S60... :-( 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Unlike a lot of other manufacturers, Volvo seem able to design it so it all keeps working as the car ages as well. Literally apart from one heated mirror, everything works, and has always done so. I will miss its comfort, its styling, and its sheer feel good factor to drive. After 27,000 miles with the car, the only criticisms are its thirst (outside of motorway use), its appalling turning circle, its fidgety low speed ride, and its stingy rear leg room for such a big car.
