Does our Rover 45 have a coolant leak?

My wife has a Rover 45 1.6 litre petrol-engined hatchback. She recently had the car serviced by a local garage and we had mentioned that the coolant light was coming on. When checked we were told there was no leak, so we have now been putting water in practically every day to top up the levels, when checking underneath the car there is no evidence of leaking fluid. Any suggestions?

Failed 'O' ring gaskets between the heated inlet manifold and the cylinder head. The coolant then evaporates on the side of the hot engine block. It's important to replace these because the car has a very small coolant capacity and is highly prone to cylinder head gasket failure if it runs short of coolant.
