  • Frank Skinner 11 Dec 2001 (Forum)
Watched the Frank Skinner show tonight, very good observation / joke. Speed camera's are to be painted a bright colour so that everyone knows where they are. Why don't they paint store detectives a bright colour ?

  • any - rear dashcam 8 Feb 2018 (Forum)
I have just fitted a new Yi fairly basic dashcam to the back window, handily my car has a rear power outlet so that bit was simple, i've fed the wire along inside the trim and inside the tailgate door trim up to the top NS corner which is swept by the rear wiper, loosely cable tying to the existing flexible bellows at the hinge point which houses other wires and the rear washer pipes, i could have delved further and threaded it inside the ducting but considerably more dismantling was in order, cable was ideal length for this. Just waiting for the micro SD card to arrive now, the camera unit is recommended by the Techmoan chap as a basic, i wasn't going to go to the expense of a Transcend camera for the rear. I'm not sure yet if the camera will retain date/time stamp sufficiently during its off periods, time will tell, so at the moment i have disabled said date/time stamp on the assumption no stamp is better than the wrong one, do you think the time stamp is important or would you chaps leave it off too?
  • What dash cam would you recommend for £100? 26 Oct 2017 (Ask HJ)

  • NIP Lost by Camera Partnership 17 Jul 2014 (Forum)
HI there, I would be interested in hearing peoples advice & opinion. On the 10th May I got caught by a mobile Camera - 38 in a 30 a fair cop.  The NIP arrived about 1 week later.  I carefully filled it in and being the cynical type posted it it back as recorded delivery the day after it arrived.  I heard nothing for 3 weeks before I received a "you've not replied letter please send information".
  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) VIII 15 Aug 2003 (Forum)
As there was no signature on the form and no other evidence available to the prosecution upon which to prove the identity of the driver the conviction must be set aside, said the judge. The case is regarded of great importance because of the rapid increase in police speed cameras. The judge was told similar cases were spreading "like a virus" to magistrates courts up and down the country. The case arose after ex-Manchester United player Yorke was fined £350 and ordered to pay £1,000 court costs by Manchester city magistrates after the 31-year-old's Porsche 911 turbo was clocked doing 61mph in Princess Road, Withington, where there was a 40 mph limit, in May 2001.

One of the comments to this video said that the dark coloured car in front of the camera may have had a diesel engine.     http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/motoringvideo/10347802/Drivers-terrifying-crossing-of-floating-bridge-in-Russia-goes-viral.html
  • Number Plates on UK Cars 24 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Many cars now have deliberatly scruffy numberplates - that is the numberplate appears to have a stain on it. I assume this is to fool the speed cameras. Does it work and don't the police stop and warn for this offence?

  • ANPR cameras - they work y'know ! 25 Oct 2007 (Forum)
They were very polite, courteous even, when they realised the situation and the fact that Lancashire police had forgotton to take my details of the stolen register. So, it just goes to show these things work. I think I might even make it onto 'Police, Camera, Stop !" Cheers jdc
