  • Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - Windscreen chip repair query? 27 May 2009 (Forum)
I called {windscreen repair company} to arrange a chip (garden pea in size with two several small cracks either side). They explained that the engineer would come out and assess it chip and advise if a repair or replacement was necessary.
  • Passat or RAV4 - VW or Toyota 11 Nov 2024 (Forum)
That's why I can buy RAV4 Hybrid 4x4 with 1-year warranty for 35 000 EUR (29 051 British Pounds). It's a dealer certified 1-owner with 44 000 kilometers on the clock (27 340 miles). The car is just 2-years old with 1 year remaining original manufacturer warranty. Not bad I guess?   It's all I need, actually, with intelligent LED Matrix lights, heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel and 222 horsepower.

Then recently the same person offered to buy the car. My mum was not impressed by his attitude and hence the reason I am contacting you. Are you able to advise the best course of action and perhaps a trusted contact that me be able to assist with finding an appropriate windscreen.

  • Autoglass Radio Advert 6 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I assume therefore that modern screens are much more stronger than older ones and therefore less breakage claims? Second question. In the advert it states (not word for word) that a windscreen is part of the cars structural strength and, if it is chipped or cracked, it could affect the airbag activation!!! How do they work this out? And how are they allowed to scaremonger like this on a radio advert?

  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 02 2.0 Washer system 26 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I had it checked out on Tuesday and had the ECU reset - since then, no faults or warnings On Thursday, going home, I tried to use the windscreen washer and the wipers worked fine but the screen washer didn't - neither front or back. Looking at Haynes it would appear that the washer circuit has its own fuse, which I will check tomorrow. If the fuse is ok it would appear that the fact the washer isn't working could be down to 4 things - washer or switch fault, electrical fault, kinked/blocked pipe.
  • Did you know that Legionellaire's disease can be caused by contaminated screenwash? 14 Oct 2010 (Ask HJ)
While agreeing entirely that it was daylight robbery to want to charge £46 to flush out the screenwash system ("Car Clinic", pM8, 16th October), may I...
  • Mazda 2 - Stick or twist? 28 Sep 2019 (Forum)
It was bought outright in 2010 for £7495 with  33k miles and has been reliable, with yearly servicing and just a few suspension parts and a pulley wheel replaced. It's on its original exhaust, battery, clutch etc. Yearly mileage around 7k. It's been a good car, although a horrific green colour, but it's starting to show its age.  In the next few months it's due a service and MOT. There are a few jobs that need doing; exhaust heat shield mounts at manifold have corroded ,  rear wheel bearing is very rough, suspension clonk from the front and a couple of tyres are very close to the wear indicators.
  • Ford Mondeo - Flickering Sony lights 30 Mar 2012 (Forum)
(very distracting when night driving) I have done some investigating (fiddling!) and found if I use main beam or put heated front or rear screen on it reduces and almost stops the flickering. If I put on all three then it stops. If I turn stuff off then it gets worse and I think it then also shows up slightly in the dash illumination but very slightly.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 06 1.8 What is the correct battery spec? 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
The reason I believe I need a new one is that it turned over fine first attempt this freezing morning. Left it for 10 mins with heated screens on. Well thought I switched them all on, but front one seemed to have turned off, so turned it on after 5 mins. Then switched car off for 5 mins. Got kids in and then tried to start it. Turned over but would not go.
  • SAAB 9-3 Convertible - Air heater Fan and air conditioning not working 30 Jan 2014 (Forum)
I have a 2004 Saab 93 Vector(auto 2.0). Today the heating air fan and air conditioning have just stopped working. Meaning no air seems to be coming out at all ! I purchased the car in June 2013 and ever since I purchased the car there has been a clicking noise that came on for 5-10 seconds after I switched off the air con or heating fan.
  • My battery has lasted 17 years. Is that common? 5 Nov 2020 (Ask HJ)
This is not really a question as such but I've seen your advice that car batteries are designed to last 3-5 years. I have owned a 2003 Citroen Xsara Picasso...

  • BMW 3-Series E46 (1998 - 2005) - 01 1.9 Rear Heated Window Failure 7 Oct 2009 (Forum)
Guys, My RHW has been causing bad reception on the radio for 6 months and then failed altogether. I have replaced it and it does not heat up. The fuse is OK, and the dash light works and times out. Ther does not appear to be any voltage at the cable end so I wondered if their was a relay in circuit somewhere? Any ideas please, Steve
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 heat shield falling off 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The heat shield under my Focus which protects the fuel tank area from the rear exhaust silencer has partly come away and is hanging down. My local independent says they will have a go at re-securing it, or remove it completely if it cannot be repaired.
