  my car runs fine but temp guage hardly moving,then it could be after 40 50 miles temp guage showing normal then goes back to cool,it does this every so often,when I put heater on or check engine by hand it's only I would say hand warm.As I've said it's running fine,but noticed tick over a bit fast when showing cold on guage then down to about 700 revs when guage decides to work.

  Just had a (genuine) cambelt kit fitted and noticed heat from behind the top belt cover - removing this revealed excessive heat from the top sprocket and the belt run to the right felt very tight - I had only driven the car 10 miles..... I am aware the tension setting can be tricky on these - any theories on the error made?

  my girlfreind has a new to us 51 plate fiesta, with the old style pushrod engine, the heater made a slight hint of warmth at first, so i suspected the stat was stuck open weve had a new stat fitted and now there no heat at all! even after a long run, the garage suggests its the matrix , would i wrong in thinking a 2001 car with service history shouldnt need a new matrix?? it would need to be totaly blocked with sludge to cause no heat wouldnt it??

  Hi all im a newbee so please bear with me. My rear demister and heated mirrors have stopped working. The power light does come on when you press the button but i checked at the rear screen and there is not a feed. The fuses are ok. Does this sound like a relay. Would i still get the light on the switch if relay was faulty.

  My current Polo is indirect injected and uses glow plugs to start. I know the fundamentals of indirect injection, but how does a direct injected car start like a petrol, i.e straight away without waiting for the fuel to be pre-heated ? Does the direct injection use glow plugs, and if not is the fuel heated up by the action of the piston moving up the cylinder and compressing the mixture ?

    I sent them an email (copied to the dealer) outlining the issues.   This afternoon I took the car to a very well-regarded insurance approved bodyshop.  The chap there was of the opinion that this probably wasn’t a stone chip but rather damage caused in changing the windscreen.  He felt that the corrosion started under the windscreen surround and had spread up.
