Hot and bothered 5 Jun 2003 (Forum)
Before any suggestions are put forward, here's what I've already tried: New thermostat, new temperature sensor (it's definitely overheating - not electrical), new radiator cap, new radiator, new coolant, new water pump, back flushed engine (no blockages) and bled system for air locks. It's not losing any coolant and there's no water in the oil, or oil in the water. Any thoughts? -
Sloshing water in passenger footwell 6 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The engine started shuddering when I was stationary e.g. waiting at traffic lights, so I took it to a garage and was told that the head gasket needed replacing urgently & that the coolant was leaking. So I shelled out hundreds of pounds for the head gasket to be fixed, picked up the car tonight, and on the way home could hear the water as much as ever. When I opened the bonnet, I could see that the coolant reservoir had drops of water on the cap and sounded as if it was hissing/bubbling & it was still quite hot about half an hour after I'd parked at home. -

Toyota Yaris 1.0 2007 - Fan kicking in after a few miles 6 Aug 2022 (Forum)
Fan unexpectedly comes on after about 10 mins light driving. - Not leaking coolant. No warning lights shown. - Return (bottom) hose from rad is very hot, hotter than the input (top) hose. - Started doing this after I replaced the battery. But I would expect a blown fuse to cause the fan *not* to come on. -

Hi All, I've had some issues (coolant leak, EGR valve) with my car (Citroen C4 Grand Picasso). It's within 6 months since I've purchased the car and I'm wondering who is legally obligated to pick up the tab for the repairs, myself or the dealer? -

Mk2 Golf - Leaking radiator 17 Jul 2011 (Forum)
I have a Mk2 Golf with a 1300 engine. There is a moderate coolant leak from the sidewall of the radiator, where the mesh meets the plastic sidewall. The radiator is a replacement from the first, it is 6 years old. The leak rate does vary, the worst case is losing 3/4 of a pint in a week / 100 miles Will RADWELD work here? -

Citroen C3 - warning coming on saying engine too hot 17 Dec 2010 (Forum)

Ford Escort Petrol 1992 - Headgasket fear 3 Aug 2010 (Forum)
A friend has an Escort 1992. I suspect a headgasket fault as the coolant is oily in colour! I cannot understand however why the first plug in cylinder 1 is very oily, where it has oily deposits! The others do not have this however! Cylinder 1 has a low compression. The engine is 1.6 litre if this information helps. -

Overheating Mondeo V6 20 Apr 2007 (Forum)
My mondy is having a bit of a problem keeping it's cool! Called the AA out last night and we have no coolant circulation. With the thermonstat removed it still got too hot so it seems to point to the water pump not doing it's job. Can anybody reccommend a garage in Southampton? I'm hoping that it can be done for around £200ish else it's starting to become uneconomical. -

Vauxhall Astra 1.8 sport. Temp gauge 21 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I noticed after starting the engine after a rest of at least 90 minutes that there was flow to the top of the coolant bottle. I take this to mean that the thermostat is stuck open. Does anyone agree/disagree? Cheers. -
Mondeo leaking stat housing? 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I have just noticed a slight "weep" coming from the stat housing ie; the cover of my 2001 Mondeo tddi. It is as tho the cover is slightly corroded ..letting a small amount of coolant escape. The cover seems to be plastic (tho I could be wrong)...my question is can I buy a housing as a seperate item, if not is there any type of sealant/filler to use on the leaking section? Thanks in advance! -
Rover 214 heater problem 7 Mar 2006 (Forum)
CAR: 1998 ROVER 214 The heater matrix has been replaced & now it won't get hot. The vehicle has been raised whilst filling, and the heater was filled with coolant prior to fitting to try & prevent air locks. Any hints? (PS, it is one of my customers who is doing the job & I'm getting the blame because I supplied the part, any hints would be greatly appreciated!!)
