Honda Jazz III 2012 - Upgrading Infotainment 5 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Great car, but as its a 2012 it lacks a lot of modern niceties... No Integrated GPS (I have a Garmin Dash mounted), No Rear-Parking Cam or radar, Obsolete factory radio w/CD player and I really wish I had Apple Carplay on it. I am tempted to get a Garmin SD 65 and BC40 combo. This is not hugely expensive (about 400 Euros) and would give me some of the features I want with drilling holes everywhere. -
Seat Leon 1.6 TDI 2015 - Busted wheel bearings after front shocks replaced 17 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I found a garage who were well reviewed on google and on approvedgarages.co.uk to carry out the work and they came back with a good quote. Dropped the car off on a Friday and picked it up on Saturday and all was fine, for all of 50 miles. The missus commutes 60 miles each way every day all along the motorway, on her first commute to work on Monday less than halfway through the car started marking a whirring noise that seemed to be coming from the front, when she pulled into the car park at work the ABS lights came on and the steering wheel locked up. -
Vauxhall Astra Club - Head gasket? 7 Jan 2017 (Forum)
A few days ago, he noticed the creamy substance on the oil filler cap, and also the water level had dropped. he oil itself was fine. He took the car back to the garage, and was told that it was unlikely to be the head gasket, as this car has a metal gasket (excuse me if I have described this incorrectly.) He said it was probably condensation, and maybe an air lock? -
Any recommendations for large boot and 7 seats? 27 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Hi, I'm on the search for a car with a big boot, 7 seats, low running costs, can fit in a supermarket car parking space, good reliability, and can be bought secondhand without taking out a second mortgage. Yes, I do want the moon on a stick! We currently have a Golf Estate which is fine but the boot is not big enough for our needs sometimes. -
vauxhall corsa D - Corsa D 1.4 Automatic Gearbox Issues? 13 Mar 2014 (Forum)
The car has around 15K miles on it but the gearbox has issues. Sometimes the gearbox will just not move out of the Park position. It has been to a dealer whom suggested she give it more time for the electronics to do their stuff before putting into Drive. She did this and it was fine for a while but the fault then started to occur more often no matter how long she waited. -
Vauxhall Vectra B - Vectra diesel diagnosing injector seals 18 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I came home after a few days away and the car didn't start at all. They were cold days so I suspected the glowplugs. Tested these and they were all fine and there is power being supplied to them. After reading on this site people suggested an air leak. Also as it was parked on a slight uphill I suspected this was the case too. So I changed the leak off pipes today and tried to start it after the job was complete and still no go. -
Nissan Micra K11 - Car Shuts off Immediately. Cannot start properly 20 Feb 2013 (Forum)
For the past couple of days, my K11 has been having problems starting. Start of the day, the car would start fine - I'd drive somewhere, park up and leave it a while. Come back to my car to drive home, and the car has troubles starting - I just have to keep trying and trying before it finally started. Today, the same happened, apart from when I went to start it up to go home.. -
Mazda 6 2.0D (2007) - DPF,TCS,ECL Lights !!! 29 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Got home and turned off, came to it the folllowing day and all lights were out. Went for a run down the motorway about 12 miles 15 mins and all was fine, parked up at shop, went inside, came out and started driving and TSC and Check Engine Light came on. Left it over night again, got in and the TSC and Check Engine light were on so drove to my local garage to have it plugged in on fault reader. -
Rover 45 - Rover 45 Engine Failure 6 May 2012 (Forum)
Engine started fine but after a few minutes could hear a hissing noise coming from the back right of the engine and steam/spray coming from there. The car would then lose power. I am led to believe this could be a cylinder head gasket failure? -
Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 00 2.0 Cold Start Fast Idle Problem 4 Dec 2010 (Forum)
If i stop and turn the car off and turn it straight back on all is fine. The ref counter at idle sits 500RPM rather than sitting at 1000RPM. Can anyone offer any advice as to the problem, have just had the timing belts replaced at Honda Dealer. Have had the car at Honda but they couldn't replicate the hunting and as its getting into winter this is happening more often as i am having more cold starts. -
Ford Galaxy Mk2 2.3 Ghia - Ford Galaxy Mk2 intermittent starting problem 2 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Now for the next 20 seconds to 8 minutes I repeatedly turn the key off and back on until eventually the red led stops flashing and the car starts fine as if nothing was ever wrong! Taking the key out and locking and unlocking the doors doesn't seem to help either! This happens on a totally random basis. Sometimes it won't happen for weeks and weeks, then it'll do it 3 times in one day. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 2.0 HDi P0230 Not starting. Injectors not firin 2 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Car ran but was a bit lumpy. THe car was traded in at a local garage and a lad bought it, 'drove' it home, parked it up. A friend bought it and decided to change the fuel filter and empty the fuel lines as he said he could smell petrol still. Since then, the car no longer starts! he had it recovered and the garage told him the HP pump was faulty. -
Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 2003 3.0 CDTI Automatic Gearbox Problem 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
I seem to be having a problem with the gearbox, I have done some research and look's like Vauxhall does have a problem with it's Auto gearbox. Basically, the car drives fine, pick's up speed as usual and the rest. Only when I lift of from stand still and when applying the foot brake, there is a slight judder in the gear change, especially in 1st and 2nd. I have been advised that the gearbox is knackered and that it's on it's way out. -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 2003 1.7D intermittent loss of gauges & indicators 7 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Friend has recently acquired ex RAF vehicle (a van with 15,000 mls) at auction, which on way home lost speedometer, fuel and water temp gauges, as well as the indicators. Got home OK with these symptoms, and parked up. Next day, fine all working, no problems. Got oil changed the next day by third party, vehicle behaved itself. Next used 2 days later, when this time it lost power. But gauges etc all OK. Driven further that day when it cleared itself (power restored). -
Bosch Super Plus wiper blades 31 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Firstly, I had to cut 5mm off the inner end of both rubbers to stop them fouling one another in the parked position. (And yes, they are fitted correctly ~ they only fit one way.) Fortunately the length of the metal inner stiffener allowed for this without me having to cut the stiffener itself. No such problems with the original blades or with Halfords? -
Grandad's Accord auto - advice? 16 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Put it this way - the only time the windscreen washer gets filled is at the annual service.... While shifting between drive and reverse and park there's a loud bang from the gearbox - does anyone know if this is normal? Apart from that it drives and shifts fine. I have a horrid suspicion it might be to do with the fact that my Grandad shifts into neutral at every set of traffic lights he comes to. -
Dealer indifference 11 Jan 2005 (Forum)
The procedure was: go into showroom, give them driving licence and passport, which they photocopied, sign a simple form stating that I'd pay speeding/parking fines, etc, and away I go with SWMBO and two kids in back. Wifey and I went today to sort out same in Mondeo with my local Ford Dealership. "No, sir, I'll have to come with you". "But there are four of us" "Ah, Sir, it's a five seater" "But that means my wife will be sitting in the back between the car seats. -
SEAT/VW 90 BHP TDI - Oil Pressure light 25 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The cars done 62k, its a one owner full MDSH car (I am second owner). This only started this week, its previously been fine. VAG dealer has suggested a faulty pressure sensor? I have trawled the web - the only info I've found is as per the above 2002 link. Has anyone else had this problem? I asked the dealer about the return valve - they where adamant that was not an issue. -
Buying but hardly any sellers 9 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I have come to the conclusion that if you want a car that is off the shelf with one or two options thats fine, anything complicated then going by my experiance its the local dealer and no choice! I was just surprised that when you think things are tough people would welcome the chance to sell you a car but no so. -
company car - The wrong number plates! In tears! Please help 17 Jul 2010 (Forum)
It's been MOT'd a couple of times and the MOT was signed off no problem each time too. Anyway, I've got a call from the local council, chasing me for a LOAD of parking tickets! I'm going to go and speak to them in person to discuss it, and explain the situation - I totally admit to some silly parking stuff, but as no one ever contacted me, I just thought that the follow-up on tickets was shoddy, and didn't think anything of it.
