Ford Mondeo brake upgrade??? 2 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Hi there I own a 2000 Ford Mondeo 2ltr Zetec (no abs) and I was wondering how feasable it is to upgrade the rear drum brakes to discs and also whether there are any worthwhile upgrades for the front brakes? I find that the brakes are ok but if there are any good upgrades I would like to know as I feel they could be improved. -
chav 3rd brake light 16 May 2006 (Forum)
51 reg silver bog standard focus in front of me today. The driver braked, and I found myself staring at a 3rd brake light that had some kind of stenciling over it such that the red light now spelled "Focus". It was hard to make out, thus rendering the 3rd brake light somewhat useless in terms of additional warning of stopping. -
Why have electric parking brakes replaced handbrakes when they are useless for slowing down in an emergency? 15 Sep 2012 (Ask HJ)
IB of New Milton referred to electric handbrakes. They may be more efficient as a ‘parking brake’ but, at a stroke, car manufacturers are disposing of... -
all - Auto L foot braking...lets have a vote 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
The left foot auto braking debate rumbles on, I use the right foot foot for the accelerator and the brake. It feels natural, when braking the right foot is removed from the accelerator removing any chance of increasing forward motion. -

Renault Scenic 04 - Renault Sceninc Electronic Parking Brake 22 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi Can anyone help? My 04 Scenic has just had a service and MOT with new rear brake pads. The parking brake now doesn't work and I get the audible and dashboard warnings and the red light on the parking brake lever doesn't come on. The local garage have had it back 3 times and still can't fix it. -

Nissan Primera (1990 - 1996) - 1994 - rear brake noise 31 Jan 2008 (Forum)
From the past 2/3 days, I noticed that it makes an annoying noise (Like a wind before a storm) right at the end of the braking zone, whenever I brake. I can feel that the noise is clearly coming from the rear tyres/brakes. Recently we have changed the brake pipes and am not sure if that had any impact on this. This sound comes up only when I brake to stop the car in traffic, otherwise its quiet and perfect on motorways etc. -
brakes nissan primera est auto. 28 Nov 2004 (Forum)
on appearance at the local garage we were advised the brake servo needed replacing. Q. does it sound likely that this problem is being caused by a faulty brake servo. as they turne out to cost over £230. -
brake squeak 27 Aug 2003 (Forum)
I recently had new rear brake pads on my clk230 and from the start they have made a noise on braking. I have now travelled about 800 miles and the brakes still make a loud squeak, I was told by the MB garage that I should allow 1000 miles for them to bed in and then was told that I was using the brakes too gently! -
Air in brakes. 8 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Just looking at a ZX with "pedal to to the floor syndrome", as bad as I've ever known apart from moving the Land Rover last week forgetting it had no brake shoes or wheel cylinders fitted....we do get so used to a brake pedal with some action under it. Anyway this is a well maintained car with good brake linings/drums/discs. Calipers fine, as are rear brake cylinders. -

Brake fluid shelf life 15 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Although it's common knowledge that most brake fluid deteriorates in use through hygroscopic action, what is the 'shelf life' of brake fluid still sitting in its original sealed container?
