What do you miss most..... 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I miss the variable speed intermittent wipers - which I thought were the work of genius. My new car has automatic wipers that seem to have a mind of their own and prefer to be on the fastest setting even in light drizzle.... Madness. -

Tax disk reminders 31 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Now is it me being cynical, or a blatant money making exercise, the fact that this is the first year I haven't received my tax reminder for the car ? Nothing to do with automatic fines by any chance ? :o( Is it just my MOT, V5 and insurance certificate I need for one isn't it? I can never remember ! -
Who makes Mazda 3 auto trans? 13 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Does anyone know who makes the automatic transmission used in the Mazda 3? I know the Mazda 6 uses a Ford box and by all accounts it is not a good transmission at all. Does the 3 use the same box? If so it is probably something I should avoid. -

Road Tax fine (or not) 29 Feb 2004 (Forum)
My road tax runs out today and I intend to renew it tomorrow. However I have been told today that if you do not renew by midnight an automatic fine is sent out. Is this correct? If so I only have myself to blame but I thought you would at least get a few days grace?! -
Pug 106 Handbrake 5 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Does a Pug 106 Look 2 (98) automatic rear brake ( Bendix ) adjuster also deal with hand brake cable length, I get the impression it does not as they refer to hand brake cable adjustment ever 12K miles. If so is it the rear or front heat shield that has to come off. -

I have had problem with the automatic gearbox changing from 4th gear up into 5th & 6th gears when going up through the gears at around 3,000 rpm. I have taken it up to the redline before pulling back on the speed and changed gear manually. -
Mk3 vw golf - Can anyone help me with my mk3 vw golf automatic?? 1 Feb 2015 (Forum)
All the electrics came on when I turned the key but the engine wouldn't start up. Basically it was like when you try to start an automatic without having it in park first. I called the AA and after much head scratching I got my husband on the phone to him who said just bypass the ignition so it will start and I'll sort it out once she's home (he's an army mechanic). -
Nissan Almera or Toyota Prius? Any help? 26 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Hello, i am in the proccess of buying a used vehicle and i would like your advice!I am between a 2004 Nissan Almera 1.8 (gasoline powered 4 speed automatic with 55.000 Km on the clock and price 6.300 Euros) and a Toyota Prius (any year between 2005 and 2009 and price from 12.000 to 15.000 Euros). The Almera has very good reliability ratings, but,on the other hand,is quite expensive on fuel (i think that this is the case, since it is a 4 speed torque converter automatic fitted to a 1.8 liter engine) and tax (here...in Greece... gasoline has a price of -approximately-1.50 Euros per liter (and it is predicted that its price will rise even more),the annual tax of a 2004 conventional car with a 1.8 liter engine is 252 Euros (this is the data for 2010,as nobody knows what its going to happen the following year...) -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - Hired a Honda Accord in Cape Town. 18 Jan 2008 (Forum)
I have just come back from a Christmas New Year break in Cape Town. I ended up hiring a petrol Honda Accord with a gearbox which could be driven fully automatic or indeed switching over and changing gear by pressing the button on top of the gear stick. I just stuck with the automatic ( only the second time I had driven automatic). I ended up being impressed by the car ( charcoal colour with shiny black seats). -
Executive diesel automatic saloon 9 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Ok all I really really want an automatic however as I do 20k miles pa the maths tells me I have to get a diesel. Now I know lots of people on here say you need to be doing > 30k pa to make diesel a better choice than petrol but from my spreadsheet I just can't see how this adds up. 42mpg vs 32mpg for a typical midsized disel auto vs petrol auto adds up to a LOT of money over 20k miles, and I can't see too may costs going the other way (servicing maybe £100 tops and bank interest on having to take out a bigger loan perhaps £200 tops). -
2022 Citroen C3 & Dash Cam 3 Jul 2022 (Forum)
So I finally made my choice and bought a 1.2 110 Citroen C3 Automatic! I have two questions: 1) For those that have the above car, are you happy with it? 2) Does the dash cam activate when the car is parked? For example if someone drives into the car when it is stationary and not switched on. -
Any - Outsourcing our brains 7 Dec 2021 (Forum)
Driving home in early evening gloom the vast majority of cars had their headlights on. Those who didn't were relatively new. I wondered if they were on automatic. Then it is not your decision to put on lights but a rigid decision making system. I have concerns about over reliance on technology. I appreciate all the advantages but ..... -

Heading for Madrid after 23-11-2018? Beware 10 Oct 2018 (Forum)
https://elpais.com/elpais/2018/10/05/inenglish/1538733317_890210.html The traffic department automatically issues ECO labels for hybrids, etc. Unlike Paris, there doesn't seem to be a system for visitors to receive one. Not sure how "Occasional visitors may be allowed in by residents" will work -
Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Driveshaft oil seal, do both? 7 Aug 2018 (Forum)
Automatic box, one of the driveshaft seals has most then likely gone, haven't had a good look just yet but getting ready too when it occurred to me, if I'm doing one what's the possibility the second will go?
