Helo all, can anyone tell me the points gap for my 89 1.0 micra? I set them to 0.28m as a roadside emergency coz it started running very poor and it turned out the points were not secure. It does run pretty smooth but i only guessed the gap so i would like to adjust them to proper spec Also am i right in thinking there are NO websites that will list the spec of all cars? -

Gas Conversion - Honda Civic 1 Sep 2005 (Forum)
I have a V reg Civic AeroDeck (Estate) and am considering having it converted to run on LPG I would like to know if anyone has had their Civic converted to run on LPG. Are Honda engines OK for Conversion?? Any Horror Stories relating to Honda Engines and LPG. I changed from a 1.6RT Renault Scenic that had an old Gas conversion on it (Non Injection type)and had problems that were quite costly. -
VW TDi - 1.9 vs 2.5 long-term ? 9 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Quick question - which TDi engine will last longer, the 130 TDi 4-cyl, or the 2.5 V6 ? I plan on running my forthcoming (used) Passat for a few years, and still can't make up my mind which to buy - at 3 years old the difference in price isn't that much. I am wondering if the less-stressed V6 diesel will last longer ... anyone out there run either a 130 or the V6 to some high mileages ? -

Rover 25 diesel problem 24 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I thought that running the engine with the MAF disconnected would have shown up as a fault and the light would have come on. Any one got any ideas? -

Mondeo running problems 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
My friend came round that evening with the new set of plugs and I tried to start the car to show him the symptoms and strangely it started!! Although it ran rough as it did the night before. I took the car for a long run so as the injector cleaner could do its work and it did seem to run a bit better. The next morning it would not start again so the following Saturday (last Saturday) I changed the glow plugs and since then (a week ago now) it starts first time every time, hot and cold but it still runs rough, no power, smokes a lot on hard acceleration especially in low gears. -
Vauxhall Astra 1.7cdti 2012 diesel - Running on two cylinders/lack of power 25 Apr 2022 (Forum)
Can anyone help? I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 cdti 2012 diesel, which is running on 2 cylinders and is powerless. It started to mess around a little, and I thought it needed a run up the motorway to clear the emissions, but this did not happen as it lost all power and I had difficulty in getting home. -
Hyundai i10 - Air Con 15 Jun 2021 (Forum)
A very genuine car from a genuine seller. Car hasn't been used much over last couple of months apart from a once in a while short run to keep things moving. Seller said (and I believe him) that a/c was working when last used, and I didn't think to try it during short test drive. Took it out for a short run (20 miles or so) and a/c is not working, or rather it does everything except blow cold air- fan works fine, compressor and engine fan cut in. -
Bin lorries - is the driver allowed to leave cab? 14 Apr 2018 (Forum)
However, whilst waiting, I did notice that the driver of the refuse lorry was also actively involved in the bin retrieval, emptying and return. The lorry was therefore running, not parked, no one at the wheel. Once the collection in that bit was done, he then popped back in the cab and drove another 15 metres on, at which point I could get by. Had a google on the legality of this, with conflicting results 1) The engine of the bin lorry has to be on for the compactor and hydraulics to work 2) There is a safety switch at the rear to cut the engine if needed 3) The law that says its illegal to leave a car unattended and running is not applicable to vehicles that require the engine to be running for loading/processing purposes, eg. refuse lorry, skip mover, cherry picker etc. -
Peugeot 307 CC - Peugeot 307 intermittent starting problems 28 Jun 2017 (Forum)
It will consistently fail to start from that point onwards.... until I press the gas a bit while turning the key. Then it fires up fine, and runs without issue and the engine light goes out...for another few days until it happens next! Once it's running, there are no signs of any problems, it runs perfect. The engine sounds good. The car is used quite a lot, probably 5-10 trips a day. -
'98 Fiesta Ghia 1.25L 16v - Engine struggling to run 13 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Theres no leaks or bits of metal anywhere so im certain I've not fragged it. theres still fuel to the rail even after 4 days and several starts. This time it struggles to run. Basically, I start the engine, it starts fine but then it keeps dropping to around 250 rpm then back to normal idle then immediately back to 250 rpm. this is constant. I have replaced the HT leads this afternoon and the issue still persists. -
FORD COURIER VAN 1.8 TD ENDURA ENGINE - Problemsw with engine starting 12 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Next checked glow plugs and all four were not working (extremely strange that all four were not working) Replaced all four and the engine started first time and glow plug light stopped flashing. I left the van running for 30 minutes then turned it off. The following morning would not start and glow plug light flashing. The symptons are the engimne fires but wont run on and the power steering electric motor by the radator runs on for about 30 seconds. -
Hyundai Getz - Cheap To Run Small Car Up To 3K? 14 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I really do not like french cars either except the 2 previously mentioned cars as I believe that they are Toyota running gear. I had thought about a Toyota Yaris, but then I got to thinking about a Hyundia Getz.. Sure they do not look great but I do not care. I just wondered are they reliable, economical and do they suffer badly with rust? -
Mercedes clk 320 - older car running report 12 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Great idea to start the running report on the new Volvo. Thought I'd give a try at one on my older car which I bought three years ago at 94k and registered in 2000 .I've got to 130k now and apart from normal servicing I had one large bill for a pse pump of £600 and was quoted £600 to fix the convertible roof at the main dealers. -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - 02 2.6 exhaust smoke when in kickdown 8 Mar 2009 (Forum)
The following day After driving for about 3 miles as I was about to exit a junction I put my foot down to accelerate and out comes a big bellow of smoke. I immediately pulled over and drove the car back home after a come of times running the engine the smoking ceased. The car runs perfectly in Idle and normal running speed. I spoke to a mechanic friend who initially thought that I might have put too much oil. However on inspection he found that the levels was adequate. -
Citroen Despatch (2007 - ) - 04 1.9 diesel poor running 5 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I posted a previous question about non starting and had to resort to getting an auto electrician firm out to fix the problem after spending 2 hours outside my house on tuesday in the rain they decided to tow it to there garage where they claimed to have worked on it all day wednesday cutting some security device off the back of the diesel pump telling me on Wednesday eve that it also needed new glow plugs so it would run just right.Got it back today with £350.00 bill but it now has a different problem than before,it starts ok now so that problem seems to be fixed but it flattens out like you have run out of fuel at between 20/30 it is as if it is being starved of fuel temporarily then as you drive through it it springs back to life. -
Dilema of my dying fiesta 7 Feb 2007 (Forum)
{car make added to header to clarify what 'Rattle' is talking about - DD} I have spent just over £500 on it since I bought it 3 weeks ago (including the purchase price) and its still not running right. I won't go into the technical side of it because that was discussed on another site but I have a feeling the engine is on its way out. The car has four months MOT and runs fine, but its got excessive white smoke which could indicate a head gasket failure (my tests so far are inconclusive). -
new Citroen C5 poor fuel consumption 17 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The M4 motorway run is about 40/41 mpg, about 34 mpg around town and an appalling 37 mpg on a recent trip to Cornwall! Both cars are used mainly for long-distance driving, both run on fully synthetic oil. The new car has travelled nearly 6000 miles now so it must be fully run-in.
