  • British Motor Heritage to offer Mk1 Mini bodyshells 13 Feb 2017 (News)
Plus smaller rear window, rear side windows, and rear light mountings. The Mk1 also had different A-pillars and hinge reinforcements, different sills, front and rear parcel shelves. The bonnet, inner and front valances were also different – as was the numberplate mounting. A prototype bodyshell was created last year and since then BMH has commissioned additional tooling to refine the finish and improve the build quality. A spokesman said, ‘BMH has used the later front bulkhead crossmember assembly as retooling for this non-visual part would have been prohibitive, and opted not to form the rotodip hole in the rear seat squab; recognising that a significant element of demand for the new shells will almost certainly be for historic motorsport.’

Like the world-famous ‘NUB 120’ driven by Pat Appleyard, there are twin spotlights at the front.

The fact that it can be snapped up for just under a ‘grand’ makes it one of the best-value options for fans of ’80s metal.  The Montego was a successful car for BL, arriving in 1984 to steal sales away from the Sierra and Cavalier. Although derived from the five-door Maestro hatchback, Austin Rover’s new saloon looked quite different thanks to its sleeker front end and ‘three-box’ styling.

MoneySupermarket advises on how to avoid becoming the victim of a 'crash for cash' scenario, where other drivers deliberately cause a crash where you are theoretically at fault. Obviously the first thing to do is be aware of the behaviour of the car in front and leave a sensible distance between it and you. If you are drivingt an automatic in slow moving traffic, left foot braking enables you to stop instantly if the car in front stops suddenly.

It comes without tax or MoT, and will need full recommissioning, as will all three. The estimate for the Herald is £12,000-15,000. The two Dolomites are also also a significant opportunity to bag yourself a practical classic car, which you’re effectively going to the first driver of.
  • Hidden Heroes: Ford Escort RS2000 16v 7 Jun 2019 (News)

  • SKYACTIV. The future of cars according to Mazda – Driven. 5 Jun 2011 (News)
The diesel auto had been programmed for the very tight race circuit we were using, which meant it held third in fully automatic mode longer than I did manually.   What struck home most of all cars, though, was the feel of the steering, the faithfulness of the front end and the ride quality. Normally, given the types of corners, a front drive car would have succumbed to tyre howling understeer, but none of these did.
