  As some of you know  i start work early, a 3.15am start from my house is quite normal so it has to be reliable. Last thing i assumed was battery issues, top line Yuasa roughly 4 years old, it came with a 5 year warranty but blowed if i can find the receipt or remember where it came from, voltmeter in car shows high charge rate from start gradually diminishing to the 13.9v level as the battery reaches full charge.

  All fixed now i've got ignition light when it supposed to and all charging fine,  i've run Toyota 4x4's for years and that's the first major failure i can recall apart form the odd bulb. Twin batteries on these vehicles, wired in parallel so still 12v starting, and yes i did charge them both fully so they have an equal starting charge...common sense tells me it would not do either battery any good if you only charged one, but if i had only charged one battery would it lead to one or other of the two failing before it's natural time or would they equalise without any issues?

  The car was being driven along when the headlights suddenly drained, the battery light started clicking on and off until she eventually died.  We had had the problem the previous day and presumed that a cell had died in the battery. We put a high performance battery into the peugeot from my other car and it seemed to solve the problem.

  BTW, he said that the operation was more difficult on Diesel Foci due to the bigger battery ...... maybe a case for moving it out of the way.

  it was round to the scrapyard for a new old one. Needless to say, once the recycled motor was fitted, the engine started easily on the old battery this despite having been dumped outside for two weeks in a semi-discharged condition. I know the sensible thing would have been to retain the new battery, but there are greater emotions in play here than common sense!

  AA came and jumpstarted it. he checked the current drain from the battery when everything off, and registered it at 450mA, as opposed to skoda guide of 150mA. took car to skoda, told them. they said faulty cell in battery, replaced battery. with an electronics degree, i fail to see why a faulty cell in the battery would cause excess current to be drawn from the battery.

  Hi,     We own a 2009 Honda Crv EX 2.2 diesel car for a year now. A couple of months back we've noticed the car battery went dead twice on us so we decided to invest in a new one. To our surprise 2 weeks later the new one went dead too! So we swapped the old battery (thankfully didn't get rid of it!) and charged up the new one (also double checking nothing had been left on inside the car).

  In the real world, this isn't going to happen, and in any case, isn't 500 charge cycles less than 2 years of daily use before the battery is worn out? No doubt, like the lithium-ion batteries in mobiles phones and laptops, the battery range is likely to diminish over time, such that the actual range could be much less than 250 miles towards the end of the cars life.

  I charged my battery up the wrong way and when I tried to put it back on car it was sparking like mad , thought something was left on that took high voltage! Anyway it was the polarity had changed in the battery When I put a new battery on it lights up the ignition but wont crank.

  I’m hearing reports that the 12 volt auxiliary batteries aren’t up to the job in the HRV, Jazz Crossstar Hybrid and new model Civic. Often requiring a call to Honda assistance who attend and jump start the car . But after up to six repeat experiences when the car is left in the garage for a week or lots of local runs , owners are resorting to buying a “ jump start “ pack.

  All is working fine now. Although this would not have helped me yesterday I am looking to buy a jump starter and battery charger in case I am away from home and need one.   I found a good review site on Youtube the Gooloo GP 2000 and the Imazing came out well on tests but these only available in the USA and would rather order from the UK.

  My alternator went yesterday after my battery warning and stop light had come on. ABS and power steering went just before I managed to get it in to a tyre/battery garage to have a battery test. They then diagnosed it as an alternator issue and helpfully drove me to the nearest garage who do actual car repairs.

  I connected the negative jump lead back on to the chassis (saw a spark) and tried again. Totally dead. Do I need a new battery?

  On average they are between five to eight years old.  With the slow  return to work about to begin-I wonder how many flat battery, locked brakes and non starting callouts there might be in the next few days? If none-then isn't it amazing how modern cars can be left static for such a long period without any basic care and maintenance?

  I am going to be fitting a new battery to my Caddy and wondered if i am likely to have to re enter the radio code?. I'm asking because i don't have it!. Just been looking through all the paperwork i got with the van and can find no reference to a radio code.

  I want to fit an auxiliary (leisure) battery in the boot of my vehicle. It would be easier and less intrusive if I could get it in the engine bay but alas that would be too much to ask so , boot it is. Anyone fitted one in any estate. Not just my car.

  I am looking around to replace my 40 year old 12v 6v halfords charger with a modern compact battery conditioner that will deliver a 12v and 6v charge and has a plug in hook up facility. I am surprised how very expensive some of them are eg £60 upwards and that they are only 12v. I have come across a brand called  "Maypole" specifically model MP7423 12v 6v.

  Changed the starter motor - same fault. It will start with jump leads but not using its own battery. Changed the battery - same fault. Symptons suggest i'm not getting live from battery or ignition to starter motor. Any ideas? Cheers

  This morning got in car and battery charging light on dim. First thoughts were dodgy brushes or other alternator problem, light would go out at about 3000 RPM (but sometimes came back on). When arrived at work switched off and then noticed light came on dim (rather than bright) when engine off and ignition in position I or II.
• Honda Jazz Hybrid - Honda Jazz Hybrid 15 Nov 2012 (Forum)
    We hadn't considered a Hybrid but the price for this one is attractive and all Hybrids have the CVT transmisssion.    The reviews on the Hybrid are broadly favourable.  my one reservation is the battery pack which is expected to last the life of the car but I see that Honda will only guarantee the battery pack for five years. Should the battery pack be a concern?   I've had Hondas before and they are pretty bullet proof, it  would be my intention to do what servicing I  can, myself  ( using Honda parts to maintain warranty ).
