• BMW 125d, 2013, manual, stop start - BMW 125d S/S potential duff alternator? 19 Dec 2021 (Forum)
  Apparently there are two different alternators for this model, and i need like for like, or the ECU will reject a new one if its wrong? I can't remove current one myself, access is limited, but it is a VALEO unit, S:7823343 Anyone had these issues with this car? cheers

  I have a 3 door seat Ibiza 1.4 and the electric Windows have stopped working both sides I have checked the fuses and they are fine. I have had feedback saying it could be water on the drivers ecu in the door. As I. Am not mechanically minded I would appreciate if anyone would have more information on this and possibly a link on how to fix please. Or any advice on how to sort problem. Thanks in advance people.

  Car runs ok. But running rich and at times smokes like a chimney. Black smoke. Checked with computer ecu saying air intake temperature 2 degrees C ? Any ideas? Cheers john

  The head gasket has recently been replaced but didn't solve the leak and was running ok until a few weeks ago. I have replaced ECU, EGR valve, and crank & cam sensors. I also have fuel in tank!! My question is should an engine start with the above compression readings? Thank you

  Does anyone know if it'll need coding (the garage didn't seem to be sure)? Also, I've seen ECU repairers who seem to be able to send repaired modules that don't need coding. So someone apart from Hyundai can get by the problem. Would be interested to hear from any Hyundai owner this happened to.

  (The car was bought from a Toyota Dealer, only given one key on handover, and have been writing them for 2.5 yrs. without success, to get an extra key :-( !). Local Toyota Dealer is quoting £1200 to replace ECU, & Locks. Why do Toyota Dealers not order New (Factory) key, on production of V5C, if necessary, and as a matter of course ?. If I could get a Factory Key, a local auto locksmith would program it for £40 !.

  Virtually all modern cars require these infernal ECUs' to be interogated using a diagnostic tool when the MIL illuminates on the dashboard. My questions are: what is the difference, if any, between a 'code reader' and a 'diagnostic tool'? I have read that in 2001, due to legislation in the USA aimed at reducing emissions, all codes had to be standardized, is this so?

  All warning lights come on but the car will restart immediately and drive Normally fora couple of weeks before it happens again. The locaL ford garage has found nothing so far and has reprogrammed the Ecu but the fault has happened again. Any ideas would be welcome as I can't trust the car at present. Thanks

  I got the throttle body cleaned at a garage and on the drive home the idle started dropping as low as 400rpm. I have reset the ecu and the idle has improved a little but its still not right. What I have found is that if I drive the car its fine for about 30 minutes but after this the idle drops to below 600 and the car shakes alot.

  When the car has been garaged and the overnight air temperature falls to below freezing, the engine fires up OK. Thoughts as to possible cause(s):- a sticky relay ?  and ECU defect ?  A short or problem with the immobilser electrics ?

  hi ,i have a 2.0 hdi 16 v engine code rhw . it has a problem when its hot ,it wont start .i can start it if i disconnect the tempeture sender unit cable      .this car starts every time when cold . i have change the temp sender unit with a genuine unit from citroen . i had a vechicle elec guy have a look and he said it must be an ecu fault.can any one give me any advice ,thanks ray.

  Hi There This my first post i hope someone may be able to help i have a astra with a misfire and have found no 1 injector is not working after changing them around its still the same i have checked the wirs from it to a small black box by the fuel ecu situated next to the battery has anyone come up against this problem before? and if so can you advise me what to try next ohh and i have changed the fuel filter with no change to the fault. Thanks

   My partner's 206 (27k miles in 7 years and not due a service) has taken to stalling when D or R are selected immediately after start up and trying to drive away.  ECU fault or plug change needed I thought. 2, The headlights are set to Auto and are now on at at all times which is';t right.I have offered to disable the Auto function but, as a lady of a certain age, she likes the Auto function to work properly and doesn't care to use her own judgement to turn them on and off!

  hi all ive a 56plate 1.6 16v hdi which has been fairly reliable upto yesterday the egine starts great, no odd smoke on start up , turbo was replaced and dpf removed/decoded from the ecu 2 weeks later , ive noticed im getting what looks like blue smoke swirling from my rear exhuast pipe soon as i let my foot off the accelerator,but soon as i accelerate smoke instantly clears and id fine , ive checked oil /turbo feels fine ,and isnt making any horried noises and is boosting as normal

  I pulled onto the hard shoulder and called the RAC. They came and stuck a laptop for diagnostics. It showed nothing though old faults coded included ECU fault and turbo fault?? I drove off and back home safely and not a problem since. Very frustrating and could have been disastrous if I lost power steering too.Thanks.

    The car is under warranty until September this year and has been back to the dealer's twice, they apparently carried out diagnostic inspections but found no fault records. The last dealer updated the ECU but there seems to be no difference. Am I expecting too much, are all these models heavy on fuel or is there any tuning that can improve things.

  Ive tried ressetting the BSI which takes the car out of eco mode but still does not start or turn, the car will than go back into eco mode After asking a few mechanics they have advised that the original diesel pump wil need to be fitted as its coded to the ECU, just wondering if this is correct.
