• Focus heated windscreen replacement 3 Jun 2003 (Forum)
  Hi all We have a 2000 Focus 1.8 Zetec, with the Quickclear heated windscreen. A couple of days ago, the windscreen got hit by a stone, and a crack has developed near the top edge, and is starting to grow slowly. Does anyone know whether the heated screens can be replaced by Autoglass/Autowindscreens etc etc, or is it a job for Ford ?

  I have 99 T Reg Fiesta Ghia which has a heated windscreen. One half of the heating element works but the other half doesnt. I have checked the fuses but cannot see anything wrong. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Will i have to have the winscreen replaced?

  I know Fords are available with heating-elements in the windscreen; but as I've been looking around for a 'new' secondhand car recently, I've come across several mentions of 'heated screen'. (I'll feel such a chump, though, if the sellers are merely referring to the heated rear screen.)

  I can hear the relay click when i switch the dashboard switch on, which according to Haynes means that's ok? The next step is the main fuses in the engine compartment. It says there are 5 in my car, but only three are present in mine, each with a cable running off it to somewhereorother. The one involved with the heated rear windscreen doesnt seem to be present, and even if i put it in its slot there is no cable obvious to take the current away!

  The instructions say to place on the mottled area behind the review mirror otherwise the metalic coating on a heat reflectant windscreen means it will not work.However this area is taken up by the plastic housing of the City Safe sensor, so no mottled area. Another problem is I have an electrically heated windscreen again with metalic elements.

  Recently we got a large stone chip in our windscreen and ended up getting the windscreen replaced. Following this we then had cold weather and discovered the heated screen no longer works. The car manual states that a low battery can cause this to not operate, so I charged the battery.

  Hi folks, I have seen a previous thread but it didnt go as far as i need it to. i have a 98 306 D non turbo L, no AC EW or anything like that The rear heated windscreen wont come on, when i depress the switch i hear a click and the light comes on while switch is depressed but wont stay on? I have checked fuse 5 (meant to be for fans and timer) and also fuse 27 (meant to be for screen itself)?
