Can you warn car passengers not to put their feet on the dash? 23 Mar 2013 (Ask HJ)

Nissan Juke - Happy Pink has a new car! 17 Mar 2013 (Forum)
They say the best way to test drive a car is to rent one. So three years ago I was given an S-Max rental and three years later I am still driving the one I bought as soon as I got home. Christmas saw us in a Nissan Juke. Very happy with the car, had a good crawl over and SWMBO announced that it was a suitable candidate to replace the five year old A-Class. -

Toyota Avensis, Hyundai i30? - Advice, family car with big boot 6 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Your advice please for a large family car, from a novice car purchaser! We are 2 adults, 2 under 5's, currently driving a 14 year old Golf. Love this car as it is so reliable, but noisy, old, takes ages to defrost in the winter... We need more boot space and general space in the car, plus fancy something newer, especially as we travel to visit family on round 250mile trips a few times a year and want to go camping in France this summer, with all our camping gear. -
Ford Fiesta 1.6 TDCI or Citroen C3 1.4 VTR+ - Which Car To Drive To Spain In????? 31 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I know that the fiesta is better on fuel but theres other things to consider....... The fiesta is the Zetec S and sometimes the seats can be a little uncomfortable, Also the Citroen is brand new so has a 3 year warrenty where as the fiesta does not (might be extreamly useful if we break down! The Citroen is more spacious as well, although to me it feels like a sloppy boat to drive as im used to the harder suspension of the fiesta. -

The screw is turning on private parking. 4 May 2012 (Forum)
The Act itself is a mishmash but those that have an interest park up at (Free) http://www.tinyurl.com/7cjfay6 and read 4th Schedule Explanatory Notes. Interesting in that the Act mentions Surveillance Equipment (S.29(6)(b)) obviously CCTV but also " any other system for recording or viewing visual images for surveillance purposes". Surely this must bring in Safety Cameras and if so then HMG have to appoint a Chief Surveillance Commissioner AND a Code of Practice which will have Statutory Authority. -

Mercedes Vario - Mazda RX8 Seat - Securing of seat - mot question - fail or pass? 8 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Right, have decided to replace the horrid drivers seat out of my Mercedes Vario (camper in conversion) with some nice and tidy Mazda RX-8 Seats (as I rather like these) In the works - the fix to get this to work was to use 13mm plywood between the main seat (the mazda seat) and the mercedes seat mounting points where the old seat used to sit. All corectly secured with 6 bolts (m6/m8's) on each side to get this secured. This is due to the fact that the runners of the new seat and base holes don't match and using ply with off set holes this works very well. Can I ask - is using wood as a sandwich "filling" with off set holes between the mazda seat and main base of the mercedes a MOT fail? -
If Someone Gave you 50k... 1 Feb 2012 (Forum)
again MPG So then i stated looking at sporty yet realistic cars such as the new focus ST due mid 2012, Audi S range and BMW M series. Now originaly i thought this would be an easy task, choose your dream car but then it got me thinking you would never get this sort of money again. so whatever it is you pick you would pretty much have to stick with it. -
Audi A4 Allroad - what am I missing? a good Audi A4 Lease deal? 9 Jan 2012 (Forum)
I purchased my 2005 Audi A4 2.0 TDi 140 S-Line Avant - Leather, Navigation, Colour coded Optics Grille Kit etc with 78,000 on the clock Oct 2008. its now got 107,000 (approx 9600 p/yr avrg) and I am in the position that I have owned thrown far too much money at a 6 year car with high mileage and now looking at the lease option. -

Citroen C3 1.4 LX Petrol Manual - Citroen C3 - three issues, not sure if connected > 17 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I initially thought that this may have been the throttle housing, but this is definitely what he has written on the invoice. Needless to say, the fault(s) is still there - any suggestions? They don't have a lot of money, so I've given them a rough idea of the costs if the PAS pump or rack has gone or if it needs a new speedo. I've told them that taking it somewhere to get a proper diagnostic run would be the best option in any case. -
Any - Stupid excuses after a crash 17 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I immediately got out of my car and went to see if the man and his son (who was in the back of the car were alright. The HGV 's driver got out and his imediate response was "sorry pal, it just slid." Now call me cynical, but a "professional" driver should know that on a wet road your braking distance will be vastly increased, therefore you should increase the distance between you and the car in front, so this struck me as a very poor excuse for some completely incompetent motoring. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 99 2.0 - TC ABS speedo intermitant fault 25 Jul 2011 (Forum)
vauxhall vectra v reg 2l sri petrol with gas conversion added tc light was first to light up, now tc abs light up and speedo not working sometimes they will not go off on start up. if the lights do go out they then fail with in a few miles or work agian but i have found that if they do go out and i switch the tc off the abs light stays off and the speedo works but i can`t turn the tc off if the light is already lite i have removed the 10 amp f35 this time on starting tc nad abs came on dim and stayed on but where bright on pressing the brake and dim with brake off (didn`t try the speedo with fuse out ) the garage i that run a diagnostic said that it was a speed fault and the n/s abs senser at fault this i changed for a GM part. 90 pounds lighter problem still there i have check back with THE garage and his next plan was the ring at the back of the cv joint before i go this root {which part of the 3 separate requests asking for the year and engine details to be included in the subject header did you SO difficult to understand?} -
peugeot 205 gti - 205 gti 1.6 starting/wiring problem 22 Mar 2011 (Forum)
I have fuel and pressure at the rail and a good spark at the plugs. normally after about 10 mins of fiddleing i can get it going and runs well. I have found that the s.a.d does not have continuity through it, which suggests that s nackerd.but shouldn't stop it from starting? I then thought i would bypass the s.a.d plug with a piece of wire just in case it needed the continuity through it to work, however when i do this and then go to put on the ignition the engine turns over without having to turn the key fully. -
59 reg Mazda 3ts 1600 petrol - Clattering Mazda 21 Mar 2011 (Forum)
After seeing someone else who had a new Mazda 3 with piston slap and after great difficulty had a new short engine installed only to have the same problem again but even worse. I'm wondering if piston slap is a common problem with Mazda 3's. Has anyone else had this problem? Would be so grateful for any help, Many thanks, Barry -
Is this car "New" or should I haggle a discount? 18 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Obviously the car in question looked immaculate, but no doubt it has been sat in by a lot of potential customers, who will also have kicked the tyres, played with the controls and perhaps accidently put a few small marks on the interior/bodywork (I'm paranoid like that). I would be happy to still take the car, but surely a discount of a few £100's would be in order....but like I said there is no way I could prove it is that car and of course the salesman would just deny it....... Should I walk away?
