  Guys, I have an 04 Astra 1.6 SXI which is giving me a major headache, the car was driving fine until yesterday after which the vehicle refused to start, it will turn over but apart from that I am getting absoulutely nothing, I therefore: Checked that power is going to the spark plugs - it is. Checked the fuel pump - No power was going to the fuel pump I then bridged the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump ran OK (didn't try starting the car in case I damaged anything) From this I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that either the fuel pump relay is not working or the relay is not receiving a signal from the ecu to "switch on" the relay and allow power to run to the pump.

  The engine turns over, fires and runs for about 3-5 secs then cuts out. When the ignition is turned on you can hear the fuel pump running and after the engine dies the fuel pump still appears to be going. If carburettor cleaner is sprayed down the air intake, the engine will carry on running, suggesting that the fault lies with the fuel system.

  driving around town if i get stuck in traffic for a while i can watch the fuel needle move.. while i'm on a motor way it uses very little and can travel 40-45 miles at 55mph and the fuel gauge needle moves only from one side of a line to the other, when i come off of the motor way i can see it move again ..

  With many people getting EVs the demand for petrol and diesel will presumably decrease. I don't know which way prices will go...any thoughts?

  Uses a hydrogen fuel cell. Vast cost in power to produce fuel. A dead duck from a "green" perspective.

  Hi folks , my partners 1.4 TDCi is leaking air into the fuel system , especially when parked nose up on a slope. re priming the system with the manual primer solves the peoblem, but can anyone help by suggesting where/how the air could be leaking into the system , and how I can fix it.

  Our CMax 2.0L seems to have fuel issues. Firstly the fuel guage seems unreliable, secondly when putting the nozzle into the tank there is a startling release of pressure, and thirdly there seems to be a noticeable smell of fuel while driving.

  Hello,    I recently went to start my rover 620 which has not been started for a while, changed plugs, fuel etc, car turns over fine but will fire briefly then die. The car runs with easy start sprayed into air intake but as soon as this stops the car dies.    Any ideas, their is fuel up to the the bleed valve on the fuel rail,  Any ideas?

  Hi all ive been searching for days for a fuel pump relay Toyota said theyve stopped making them.Ive tried breakers yards auto parts,spare parts ,ebay ive trawled the internet for about 3 days.Ive telephoned everywhere.Ive emailed DENSO not had a reply yet.You name it ive tried everywhere.Is there anyone on here likely to know of anywhere what will sell them please.

  My fiesta won't start unless you prime it or it's really cold outside.No leaks changed primer bulb and associated pipes,air and fuel filters had injectors checked for leaks and pressure but they were fine.after all this it still needs primed to start and u can still see air bubbles.Any ideas welcome as this has been going on for weeks and I've left it with the mechanic for now as it's driving me crazy.

  The Bosch pump and fuel pipe on my 1993 ZX 16v have died.  I've been trying to get the seal, pipe and pump for it (rather than buy the whole unit).  Searches for the actual car don't turn up a load of choice and prices vary a lot.

  I am thinking about replacing the fuel filter on my 59' plate Fiesta diesel. It has covered 74000 miles and don't know if it has been replaced since new. Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of? Do I just replace the filter and turn over the engine until it fires?

  If my diesel car ran out of fuel, how do I prime the pump to get the new diesel through? Also, cleaning it today, I have seen a couple of plugs (green and yellow) under the front seats. What are these and are they used for anything?

  Hi has anyone heard of this problem, occasionaly when i break hard say exiting the motorway the engine completely stops and refuses to restart as if no fuel supply is getting through, after leaving it for 30 mins it restarts, its happened a few times now and baffles the breakdown man.

  Can you tell me why you believe this to be the case?  I'm aware of the argument put forward about cleaner fuel systems and delivering better economy it's just what is about one specific brand versus another. Regards, The Bandit.
