In November 2016, Watchdog reported multiple instances of insurers cancelling black box policies for extreme speeding, including Hastings Direct. In fact, like James, many of the policy holders owned cars which couldn't even reach the speed they were claimed to have done. -

London is officially the most expensive place in Britain to get your car fixed with garages charging up to £170 an hour, a new report revealed today. According to the 2006 www.warrantydirect.co.uk Garage Labour Rates Survey, which compares franchised and independent garages, British motorists fork out an average of £72.28 an hour for a mechanic's time - with the Capital topping the table at an average of £86.51 or £116.53 if you opt for a franchised dealer. -

While everyone knows what a Mk2 Golf is all about and can instantly identify with one, the Jetta is a more specialist cup of tea. It’s a great car, which shares the Golf’s running gear and much of its interior, but it’s neither uniquely handsome nor as well-known as the legendary hatchback on which it’s based. As a result, it’s a rare beast, with less than 50 GTis still registered on UK roads, compared to more than 3000 Mk2 Golf GTis. -
Land Rover makes 'difficult decision' to axe £240,000 Range Rover SV Coupe 31 Jan 2019 (News)
Land Rover added: “Our Special Vehicle Operations division is continuing to develop exciting cars that push the boundaries of luxury, performance and capability – the all-new Jaguar F-Pace SVR is weeks away from its first deliveries and we have many more new models in development.” The manufacturer will also be focusing its efforts on the new Defender, which is finally set to arrive later in 2019. The new Range Rover Evoque, revealed recently , is also likely to be a strong seller for the brand - while updates of the Discovery Sport could also give the firm's sales figures a much needed boost. -

Barn finds are proving ever-popular at auction, but Bonhams was able to offer something a bit different – a castle find. This collection of 12 cars were all offered at no reserve. A 1969 Maserati Ghibli SS 4.9-Litre Coupé sold to a telephone bidder for €174,800 (£150,532), 1980 Aston Martin V8 Volante Convertible achieved €172,500 (£148,551) and the 1933 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Phantom II Roadster realised €111,550 (£96,073). -

There will be plenty of excitement this weekend 19th/20th May as Darlington & District Motor Club holds its Northern Saloon & Sportscar Championship with 77 entries. Entries cover 35 different makes of car, forcing the DDMC to split its entry list into two grids (the first for classes A and E, the second B, C, D and H).
