  • Citroen C5 (2001 - 2008) - 06 2.0HDi 138hp - clutch slipping? 15 May 2010 (Forum)
    I'd like to be armed with some advice before it goes in for its service - I've asked them to check this - in case it's something that can be fixed under warranty. Thanks! {various repeated stuff in subject header that gets picked up and displayed when you make your choice from the drop down menus deleted}
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - 06 1.9CDTi automatic gearbox - jerky changes. 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
All of this work was done under warranty with guidance from Vauxhall technical support and included about 180 miles of testing. Having got the car back I am not convinced that the problem is fixed, except that it may now happen and slow speeds, e.g. in a slow moving queue, or when accelerating from slow speed, e.g after a roundabout.
  • The good service thread - Vol 1 17 Jan 2007 (Forum)
I'll start: --- I had a credit note for £200 from my local Ford dealer going back about 18 months that applied to a repair that they had initially charged for though subsequently realised was covered by a TSB and therefore should have been done under warranty, I had previously redeemed £100 of this and had £100 still to use. Also at the time I booked the last scheduled service - which cost little more than £100 - they had an offer of one year?s free AA roadside assistance.
  • *** HELP Merc C320 (2002) Wipers *** 1 Mar 2006 (Forum)
My wipers stopped working all of a sudden. When I try to use them, i can hear the motor at work, but the wipers won't budge. Mercedes Benz inspected my car and gave me an estimate of £450 (£120 for the motor and the rest is labour; full of duress). Many forums suggest that the wipers may have simply snapped off the motor.
  • Citroen C3 (2002 - 2009) - 03 1.1 Hazzard lights and speedo failing 17 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi can you guys help? My son bought his 1st car just over 2 weeks ago (from a small local dealership) that has a 30 day warranty and we are getting problems with it. The hazzard lights come on from time to time and the speedo dies (stays at 0) too.
  • Golf brake failure 3 20 Mar 2002 (Forum)
The service manager said this was quite common in cars that had lost all fluid, the lack of fluid apparently allows the seals in the master cylinder to turn and you can't get any brake pressure. Everything except recovery paid for by VW. Goodness knows how much this excercise would have cost a private motorist with a car out of warranty.
  • Towing - common fail D or petrol v costs 19 Jun 2007 (Forum)
OK, I know the obvious answer is a Diesel, but how many of us can afford to keep on buying new and ensure we get rid of the thing before the warranty expires, because that is the most cost effective, hassle-free way I can think of of driving a diesel as I do.
  • Skoda Karoq - Possible Purchase 30 Jun 2021 (Forum)
I I don't intend on keeping the car for very long outside it's warranty so might not be much to worry about I was looking at the VW Tiquan, however the Skoda appears to come fully loaded, for a similar price, of a not so fully loaded Tiquan. and they are essentially the same car.
  • renault clio 1149 1.2 turbo dynamique tom - excessive steering wheel and column vibration 13 Oct 2012 (Forum)
They have advised me this issue will be resolved under the manufacturer’s warranty.  I have been told this is an 11 hour job. My wife has been given an enterprise car for a week to 10 days while all this is happening. We believe that if this all gets sorted that the car was never 'fit for purpose'.....what about the underseal rust proofing and re-sale value since we feel like going to another manufacturer.........where do we stand legally?........
  • New wheels for NoWheels 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
If the folks who promise to pay me some money actually cough up, I want to buy a car -- some time between now and Christmas. Since I work from home, I don't need it for commuting: it will be used for a strange mixture of local runs (shopping etc) and relatively frequent longer journeys, including five trips logging Ireland of abt 1000 miles each.
  • Dacia Sandero 30 Dec 2013 (Forum)
After 6 years with his Micra dad has decided a new car is on his new year "to do" list. 3 of his last 4 cars have been Nissans (Primera, Almera and Micra) and during that time the only part that has been replaced has been a rear wheel cylinder on the Almera and the only warranty jobs have been a lock circlip on the Almera and a faulty electric window switch on the Primera, to say he is happy is an understatement.
  • Jeep Patriot 09 - Faulty gearbox 19 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I have been assured by an independant garage that the problem is the third gear synchromesh, this was relayed to Jeep customer relations and we were told that as the car is out of warranty we will be liable to pick up the bill. We have opend a complaint as it seems just totally wrong for your tires to outlast a gearbox, and in particular as it has only just done 32k miles.
  • Saab 9-5 2.2 TiD '02 (51), good buy? 5 Jul 2007 (Forum)
However it seems there may be cause for concern with the EGR valve sticking closed, as well as intermittent build quality issues. Saab do well in JD Power but poorly in Warranty Direct. Having said that, nearly every car review I read seems to throw up a long list of potential problems and I'm starting to think that I'll just have to take a bit of a risk with my hard-earned.
  • Audi a6 2014 3.0l diesel 204 PS with 60k - Failed dpf regen forcing diesel into oil? 2 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Hi there    Bought car from Audi 10 months ago.  Coming to end of warranty.  Had it in for some work and I noticed the electronic oil gauge said too full, remove some oil.  I have not had a warning message.
  • fiat panda 1.1 - HELP fiat panda steering issue - should i worry ? 22 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Is it a COMMON REGUALAR HIGHLY likely to happen problem? THERE are millions of Pandas in Italy and Poland - THey have the same choices of cars as us - are they mad or just clever? I dont care WHAT car it is that i end up with.. No other car except panda, sems to offer the age/milage/cost combo i have dreamt up. Its so difficult becasue Honest JoHn likes the Panda, Warranty Direct put Panda 2nd after Pug 207 for reliabilty (which before you ask seems to be outside my age/milage/cost criteria) , ..
  • Honda CRV 2014 diesel 2.2 - Advice needed re.used CRV warning lights 3 Jun 2021 (Forum)
After owning two very old and battered cars (and spending no money on them as they were pretty much fault free for 17 years) we decided to buy a CRV from a very well known dealer. Looked tidy, fairly low mileage for year, drove well. Not a very expensive car as they go of course, but a step up for us and obviously from a dealer is rather over the odds anyway, price-wise.
  • Volkswagen Golf IV 2.0 GTI 2002 - Emission light/catalytic converter 27 Feb 2011 (Forum)
5 weeks ago I bought a Volkswagen Golf IV 2.0 GTI, first registered in 2002, from a used car dealer. The car has 74k miles on the clock, 1 previous owner, and a full service history. Two days after I bought it a yellow light came on on the dashboard. I understand this to be the emission filter light.
  • Legacy 2.5 Tourer - 40,000 mile report 22 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Ride/handling compromise is generally fine - it does understeer a fair bit, hence my interest in some possible tweaks which Aprilia has suggested. What's gone wrong? Not much - seal on a headlamp failed at 6 months - replaced under warranty with no quibbles. Clutch pedal started squeaking - attempts by the dealer to lubricate it were only partially successful initially but problem has now gone. Paintwork seems to scratch easily. Biggest surprise - never thought I'd use the Hi-Lo gearbox function but I do - very useful for motorway jams crawling along at walking pace.
  • Help with replacement car choice 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Four years ago I moved to a rural spot and my property is located at the end of a half mile long rough farm track covered periodically with used road plannings. When we moved I replaced my then car with a Hyundai ix35 4wd 2.0 diesel which is now coming up 6 years old. I bought the Hyundai as I did not know what winter weather would bring and wanted to have one 4wd car in the household with raised ground clearance to assist in getting down the track in tricky conditions.
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport - Land Rover Engine failed suddenly 26 Sep 2022 (Forum)
On the advice of the RAC Recovery Technician it was towed to a reputable garage local to us.  This garage has investigated and has advised that there was an issue with the timing chain. On the day they were moving the car to start repairing the timing chain issue, the engine failed.
