2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec - Ford Focus steering knock 13 Jun 2010 (Forum)
My Focus seems to have aquired a knock on the steering. I first noticed it when parking in a tight spot and having the steering on full right-hand lock and it knocked when it reached the 'stop'. Since then, I've noticed that the steering isn't as precise as it used to be and on checking the tyres they had worn on the inside edge. -

Ford KA, KA2, KA3 (1996 - 2008) - 97 1.2 Door unlocking problems - please help! 5 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The key fits in the lock but I am unable to turn it, it has slowly got worse to the point where it doesn;t move at all. At the moment I am having to get in through the boot, which works fine but is very embarrasing when you are stuck in Sainsburys car park!! Once I am in the car and the key is in the ignition the doors unlock themselves and stay unlocked, locking the doors is not a problem at all. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 01 2.0 HDI Fuel pump/ immobiliser starting fault 7 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Hi My 306 has been intermittently not starting once parked & switched off, it didnt happen everytime just occasionally. This is happening every so often but only ever since my car got broken into, so 2 weeks later "today" the car was turning over fine but just wouldnt start so called RAC out to find the fault he ended up saying the fuel pump had gone and it needs replacing. -
Honda Accord UK (2003 - 2008) - 2004 2.2 cdti Shudderung on start up 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
She pulled over and after a few minutes all seemed well, except for the fact that the foot brake sounded like an air brake everytime she depressed it! By the time she arrived home, on parking it and turning the ignition off the foot brake had no give in it and as she described it, 'It was solid.' I have tested it tonight and everything seems to be fine again, but I really do not like this shuddering and wondering whether this is an injector prob. -
Speed hump muppets. 11 Jun 2008 (Forum)
The speed humps where you have 3 individual humps across the road seem to be getting more popular. These work fine when when the road is clear and you can drive over the hump on your side of the road, often without having to dip below the speed limit. The problem comes when there are parked cars on either side of he road and to make smooth progress you need to drive over the centre hump in the road. -

Cit ZX Diesel smoke plume at start up 19 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I can turn the key in the morning and literally a plume of white smoke will rise up and float over the house. Bit embarrassing in car parks too as it's the smokiest car I've ever seen TBH. I have accidentally engulfed people in smoke before who were standing 10 meters away. :( During this start up and smoke, the engine runs a little lumpy, but after about 10 seconds it's perfect, and once it's running/warmed up, it's perfectly fine, no smoke, it just runs nice. -
Audi 80 1995 2.0E, Which CV joint? 21 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I am sure a CV joint (perhaps joints) needs replacing as I am getting a distinct knocking noise on full lock whilst manoevering in the car park. Also a clattering/knocking noise on taking up drive and on the over run. I have looked under the car and the cv joint covers are all intact and everything else - suspension, tie rods and ball joints look fine. -
K reg Renault Clio - choke? 11 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It runs fine when the engine is warm and I can drive it from cold ok - i just have to rev the hell out of it as I get going, which the neighbours don't appreciate at 6am in the morning!! Would I be right in thinking it is the automatic choke? -
Astra alternator problems 9 Oct 2002 (Forum)
However there seems to be a fluctuation in the output. I noticed yesterday that the rev counter was fine at 70 mph (approx 2700 revs) but at 40mph the pointer was not steady. When I first started this morning the charge light was flickering on at idle speed and when coming to work the dash lights were not steady until approx 60 mph. -
Scratched MGF paintwork. 8 Sep 2001 (Forum)
It is a well loved second car and when not in it's garage has covered only 3500 careful miles in west Scotland. Nearly every panel has fine, visible scratches in the laquer layer yet the car is rarely left unattended in a car park and is not subject to unusual attacks by road grit and scratchy hedges. (the car is carefully washed after flooding with water with a new sponge. -
Old cars and the environment. 11 Mar 2001 (Forum)
The old XU diesel is dirty in today's terms, but it's turning in an average of over 50mpg, cruises happily and quietly at 70-75 and I've known park benches less reliable (we do around 10,000 miles a year and the engine has not needed a repair of any kind in the last five years). Now that manufacturers are offering paint warranties lasting twelve years there's really no need to scrap at ten - unless you fall for the "look what he's got on his driveway" con which suits the manufacturers just fine. -

Nissan Note - Help needed - intermittent vehicle fault 26 Nov 2015 (Forum)
I drove the 23 mile journey to work with no issues. The car sat in my works car park for ten hours and started fine when I came to leave at 1am this morning. I got around half a mile down the road when the car started to struggle going uphill on a dual carriageway. -
Unlicenced car - help needed 10 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Yes I was wrong not to get my car taxed 2. Why does it take 6 months for the DVLA to bring this matter to my attention and issue a fine? I could imagine a situation where someone did not tax their car for months and only when the letters start to come through did they find they owed thousands in fines. 3. I suspect the police or a member of the public reported the car on the road. -
Don\'t mess with the DVLA 21 Nov 2003 (Forum)
If you declare a SORN and use the car while it\'s in force then you are liable for any backduty up to a maximum of 2 years. This applies regardless of if the car was ever used or parked on a public road. They don\'t care if you used it or not, the law has changed and they WILL get \"their\" money. The maximum fine for this is £2,500. Innocent until proven guilty? - no, just guilty. -
VW Passat 03 1.9tdi - Sudden collapse of Dual mass flywheel 17 Apr 2011 (Forum)
My car which is a 2003 1.9tdi Passat manual 5 speed. Was hit on the passenger front wheel and wing. My car was stationary at the time(parked) waiting for the wife. My car was pushed again'st the kerb and subsequently up it. The car suffered a damaged wing/bumber and the steering is way out. Apart from this the car sounds and drives fine apart from pulling to the right.
