• Astra 1.7dti fan relay fault 28 Jun 2014 (Forum)
  My Astra 1.7dti suffered from a flat battery I started it using jump leads then when I disconnected the leads the car shut down. I've had the fuel pump ecu replaced a new alternator and battery, yet the EML is still illuminated apparently reading fan relay faults the air con isn't working either. I've replaced the fan contol unit with a second hand one and still have the same fault could I have two faulty fan relay units or is there something else I should look at.

  Hi guys a follow up with my car yesterday I reset the ecu and I didn't use the car for about 2hrs after I did reset when driving the car with spanner went of then on way home after shopping (I left car running while misses went shopping ) the abs light went out and then the traction control light went out This morning all warning lights out and all clocks dails gauges working Any body know why this has happened (Some one said it could be a bad earth some were)

  The breakdown guy found the following fault: P060C "internal control module main processor performance", which from net searches appears to be generic. I'm not sure if it's the ecu or what to try next? Any help appreciated.

  I have recently bought a 57 plate Mondeo 2.5 T. Should i spend another £400 on a 'Blue fin' from Superchips which would alter the ECU and give me 260bhp rather than the 220 currently available? Apart from an increase in my insurance, are there any other problems with doing this? Will it damage my engine or reduce its life span?

  HELLO I RECENTLY CHANGED MY FUEL FILTER AND SINCE COULD NOT START THE CAR, AFTER ATOL OF TRYS I BOUGHT A SECONDHAND PUMP HAD  THE CODES REMOVED AND SWAPPED THE ECU OF THE PUMP ONTO THE CAR, AS I WAS TOLD THIS WAS THE FAULT, I ONLY HAD MY BLUE CHIP KEY AVALIBLE AND TRIED TURNING ON THE IGNITION FOR 60 SECONDS THEN OFF THEN TRIED TO START IT BUT NOTHING. DO I NEED MY BIG CENTRAL LOCKING KEY OR WOULD THIS MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?

  I have traced the wiring which seems ok to the bulkhead but cant seem to find it again under the passenger footwell where im presuming it should enter the ecu. Autodata doesnt list a wiring diagram for this model so does anybody know of a possible cause for this or know where i can download a wiring diagram?? Thanks for your help.

  is it possible to code in a second hand chip or would i have to buy a new one? or can i get a way through this by takeing the immobilizer out of the ECU? and how do i take it out? Best Reguards, Mickeybo

  It is not a fueling problem on the pumping side, it is on the electrical side. There is no feed going to the injectors to open them, Ecu been checked and is fine so it tends to look more like maybe a broken wire or relay something like that. Anybody got any ideas, will try anything as electrics just baffle me. cheers

My question is - can I do this even though my car is an automatc? Many thanks in advance

  I've tried injector cleaner and also a new O2 sensor, currently there are no fault codes being displayed by the ECU. The exhaust is intact,idle speed seems fine. I think fred flinstone could out accelerate me at the momoent

  Hi The glow plug light on my Octavia 110bhp Tdi sometimes does not go out as it should when ignition is switched ,engine starts fine and when started light goes out but idle speed sits at about 1200rpm. Local garage ran diag and no faults reported but say it may be ECU fault which could need replacing. Has anyone had similar fault Thanks Bigtone

  my fiesta o3plate tdci 1.4 coming home the power totally went now when i start it up it seems there is a air lock im putting a new fuel filter in to see if this will cure it reading the comments ive seen here it could be may be ECU problem,can you help please defiantly fuel starvation Subject line tweaked to show engine rather than electrical faliure -PU

  How does a novice go about scoping the dwell on his coil packs? I need to calculate both the running and cranking dwell for my car to properly configure the ECU. My friend has a bosch diagnostics terminal (smallish hand held green box of tricks that plugs into most cars about the size of a closed newspaper), this has a scope function and has 2 leads that plug in for the 'multimeter' functions it does.

  Well, after a grand two days of successful Puma motoring, the little one died. It's been to the local ford dealer who've diagnosed a broken coil pack and ECU and tell me it's a fiver off a grand to fix it. I didn't have any warranty from the used independent dealer I bought it from. But my question is, does anyone know if I have a case for the car being 'unfit for purpose' after 2 days and then needing £1000 worth of work?

  The problem with the car is a ticking noise when using revs up to 3200rpm. I concluded this was the injectors but the ecu doesnt recognise this now. I was wondering what sort of problems a faulty TPS might cause? The car is idling fine but just has the engine noise problem. Is it worth getting one of a breakers year or get a new one?

  Also the drivers information system is not working along with fuel gauge. I've tried disconnecting the battery for a while but it made no difference. Could it be the ECU ? or one of the million sensors !! Any help would be much appreciated, all the best a rather peed off Benno

  When the engine is at normal temp there is not a steady idle and there are flat spot's between 2/3000 rev's. I have replaced the water temp sensor to the ECU,plug's and dizzy cap and air filter. Still doe's it. Could it be the intake manifold gasket? Any advice would be welcome. Thank's fender.

  Hi Folks I remember many years back a friend telling me diesel engines ware normally good for double the amount of millage than a petrol engine - engines running at lower revs and diesel having a lubricant in the fuel were i seem to recall the main resons- . At that time before ecus he said around 100k-120 - pertrols and 200k for diesels. In recent posts on this forum it seems petrols engines are good for between 120-200k and i was wondering if diesel engines would still do double the amount of miles than a petrol - and if not why not??

  Hello i'm trying to find were i fill up the diesel additive, as i'm getting the warning on the dash 'diesel additive minimum level' i've purchased a filling kit for £30 but can't find were to attach it, i've looked on the fuel sender unit under the o/s rear seat but can only see the fuel feed and return lines, please please can anybody help, i understand you have to take the vehicle to a st ealer to have the ecu updated that it has been replenished, is there a cheaper alternative? any help much appreciated.

  Just wondering about fitting the meter. Is it a serious job? Has anybody done this one themselves and have any tips? Does the ECU error message on next service make a difference to the running of the engine??
